Good morning![]()
Riley played a doubler header yesterday & the won both gamesIt was a long day, but a good one.
Time to head to work, have a great day all!
Congrats to Riley!
Anne Marie -- congrats to Daniel for his super play this weekend!
All the recitals went well, but the last 2 were held in the dark! We had some powerful storms go through our area last night about 5:30 and there were trees downed all over the place. Most of the downtown area and a large portion of our section of the county were out of power for about 6 hours.
The emergency lighting at the library came on for the second recital but it went out about a third of the way through the 7:15. One of the parents had brought an outdoor lantern so we hung it from the microphone stand and it looked a little like an old-fashioned street lamp. The ambiance in the theater was actually kind of nice!
As the emergency lighting started to go out the students had trouble seeing the keyboard but did remarkably well. I held a flashlight on the music for our last performance since it was a very advanced duet that required the used of music.
The lights finally came on during our awards ceremony after that last recital so the reception was much better than the one for the 5:45 recital. No one had a clue what they were eating!![]()
I had a very dark drive home as the lights were out from the river all the way out into our county and into our subdivision. Power was restored here about 11:15 so we could turn the lights out to go to bed!
Oh my. I'm glad no one was hurt by the storms in your circle of music family.
We got in early yesterday from Waco -- around 5:30. The first game Sunday morning went really well -- we run ruled the other team and it ended early. We all packed up and went back to the hotel (one family was staying last night) and used their breakfast area to do lunch for the team. We went back at 2 for our next game, and the other team run ruled us. We just didn't play well. The team was so used to winning that I think the drive to do well was really gone. This seemed like a good lesson learned for them. Before this game, they were second in the nation for their age division.
We have staff days for the next two days where we meet as a group, brainstorm, work on certain projects etc. The boys have a basketball camp this afternoon, and both have games tonight at 7:30. Andrew's team is playing for second place.
Have a good day everyone!
