OK, DVC owners. Can someone please explain the 25% discount on rooms if you are paying cash instead of using points? Is that just on DVC rooms, or is it on regular resort rooms???

well, let me put it to you this way...I made my December reservations, day by day at VWL at the 11 month window...and did the cash 1 at the same time...but maybe MS was wrong to let me do it ....

I went back and read the thread again. They were talking about how rooms are added into the inventory, now some are for points and some are for cash and some that are for points are converted to being for cash after they are less than 60 days out.
There was a lady who had points she wanted to use but the room was only available for cash. If she wanted to use pts. she had to waitlist. CONFUSING!

So tell me about this "day by day" deal. You can see which days are open and if one day isn't open you can waitlist for it or see if you can book it for cash?

You can make reservations 11 months (home resort) after your check out date....but you can start calling and making reservations (day by day) and they link it together. For example...this AKV concierge part of our trip is 10 nights long...if I had waited until the 11 month window of the that 10th night..NO WAY would I have gotten it. So I began calling at the 11 month window of the check out of the first night...and I told then I was doing a day by day reservation. They will ask what your final check out is...and then link it all together. I hope hat makes sense. I am too much of an obsessive planner to do it any other way...

My heat came on! Did my state dip below the equator last night, so it is now winter??

My yard is a swamp. The cat next door climbed through the fence and thought he was in the jungle. The lawn was mowed last week. My gardner will need a sickle to get through this marshland, if it ever stops raining long enough to get the mower out.

One thing I am thankful for though, the heater to my water bed came on too. A least I won't have to sleep on frozen pond.

Hmm. When our guide called MS today they said the only studios they had for my dates were OKW and SSR. But on the Disney site they show a savannah studio for the dates I requested! How can I get AKV instead of OKW? Is that possible, or is this going to be one of those "dedicated cash rooms"?

So we spent an hour and a half at a boring band meeting....and had parent's ask why is there 3 section leaders for the flutes?? no other section (not even percussion..the biggest) has 3. Had to answer "Heck if I know"

Elizabeth - first, congrats and "welcome home"! Now you have a whole new set of rules to wrap your head around (for our amusement)!

CRO cash inventory for DVC villas is completely separate from DVC Member Services inventory, and as far as I know, once a villa is given over to CRO, it never goes back to DVC inventory. (Most of these villas are due to members trading out to other locations through Interval International, so those villas are given to CRO to "resell".)

Thus, that's why CRO can have completely different availability than DVC. And, as far as I know, the villas through CRO also have no correlation to the cash discounted rooms available to members. You can waitlist for AKV, but that availability will likely have to come from members with existing AKV reservations shuffling things around/canceling.

And like Kristine, I've been able to book cash discounted rooms 11 mos. out, too. We did that for my BIL/SIL last year, as they wanted to stay an extra night. MS just linked their cash reservation to the points reservation, and they paid upon check-in.
