I am off to work today. I was hoping to get all this laundry done today but it will have to wait til tonight. Katie has a fundraiser at school tonight so we are definately back to "norma" around here. Oh yea & it's 44 degrees here which is quite a change from the 80's we had just yesterday!

Prayers needed. I can't give details but it is not life & death. My niece has to testify in a trial. Please pray for a speedy trial and a good outcome. The trial starts next Thursday. Chuck & I will be going down there to be with my sister, niece & nephew while it lasts. Both of us are able to work from anywhere as long as we have internet access. I've already cleared it with my boss.

Robyn - Sorry the bakery job didn't work out. I love my job, but I can tell you it is next to impossible to be a nanny with more than 1 child of your own. Susan goes through spurts where she wants to work but she just can't find anything where she would be able to bring both boys with her.

I was talking to the asst. mgr. in my Disney Store yesterday. Disney is taking the stores back on Thursday. He said IF things go like they have been told that Disney will give them the benefits they used to have. If the benefits were good enough I would really consider working there at least one day every weekend. Of course they are supposed to close the store where I always go, so I would have to pick another one.

I put my application in to work at our Disney Store and it closed about a week later. That's my kind of luck!

Beth- i am also allergic to slupha meds. or at least thats what we say bc i took sulfa meds twice and got hives but not the normal looking hives

elizabeth, marci and lindsay- wanna go out to dinner July 11. i am pretty sure thats the day i have to get to dallas. i can probably make it for dinner if i can snag mylittle bro to take me and us leave late morning early afternoon. i will be headed to plano to my aunt and uncles house.

I just looked at Emma's spots on her belly and they look like they are drying out. Now we just need to get the negative test result for Lyme.

Ok, Airtran has changed my sister's flights. What do I need to do? They were to fly out first thing in the morning and have a direct flight arriving by 10:30 in the morning. Now the flight doesn't leave until 1:30pm and arrive at 4pm. I know they can't do this without making a reservation for them on another airline. I need details so I can get this fixed. My sister will freak!

I missed your original post, Anne Marie. Welcome back!!! I can't wait to read all about your trip and see the pictures! On becoming a Disney CM! I wish we still had a Disney Store.

I'm home. I had a long talk with my boss and gave him all of my concerns and listened to his rationalization. I totally understand his perspective and I think that he now understands mine. He does not want to lose me so he is willing to work with me for additional shifts. He will try to give me more waitress shifts and will also fit in bus shifts or hostess to make up more time. The owner's all believe that we will get busier, but I have my doubts. They have bulked up staff for summer, but the crowds may not come. We get very few locals these days as people simply can't afford to eat out. We used to serve over 100 people on slow nights, last night we served 38 and I bet we did around 55 tonight. It is such a bad economy. He is supposed to hold off on hiring anyone else until things greatly improve. Hopefully people will start taking vacations thus freeing up more shifts. Bottom line is we'll see how it pans out over the next couple of weeks. Next week won't be a good indicator as we are open all day on Mother's Day instead of just the evening and I will most likely get a double that day which is highly unusual. I hope that you are able to pick up enough shifts. This economy does have me very concerned.

Ok, Airtran has changed my sister's flights. What do I need to do? They were to fly out first thing in the morning and have a direct flight arriving by 10:30 in the morning. I'm glad you could get it changed. As everyone else pointed out, Airtran is phenomenal about making things ok without any charges, etc.

I did want to point out though, that you're probably thinking of the "Rule 240" that used to be touted around the DIS, and this thread. I just wanted to let you know, because we've been stuck by it before, that it isn't really true. In the 70's, when airlines became deregulated, it went away. Now, some airlines still honor it to some extent (many have something written in their policy) but most wised up and do NOT book you on other flights, etc. Unfortunately, they now have every right to say "tough luck!". At best, many airlines' "Rule 240" now just gives you meal vouchers, phone calls, etc -- if they even have one in their policies! Most new carriers don't even have one, since they never did to start.

Sorry for the rant, I just have been reminded on 2 separate, ugly occasions that it isn't really all people made it out to be, at least not since my lifetime started That being said, many seasoned travelers say you should still try it out -- some older airlines might do SOMETHING for you, once they see they can't walk all over you. I have a feeling though, even that will go by the wayside with any shred of customer service some of those airlines have left (ie Delta) when they're more financially strapped than ever!

Chanon helped me figure out what was going on. The non-stop flight was moved to the afternoon. My sister has a couple of choices. She can leave earlier and have one-stop and arrive at the original time, or she can leave a little later but arrive a couple of hours later, or she can take the non-stop and get there at 4pm. I'll talk to her and we'll get the best option for her.
