I am exhausted. Another big but fun day. Alyssa's bday party was a lot of fun, and we had a good turnout. Then it was time to come home and play with all of the presents. I need to go back to work tomorrow so I can get some rest!
You have been so busy!

Can I tell you all how much I HATE dealing with airlines?????
!
WOW! so glad you got it straigtened out

Good morning DDA! i could have slept in this morning ,,but here i am :)

I do, but I haven't uploaded them yet. YIKES! I'm turning into Amy!!! :rotfl:

:grouphug: for today.

Are you pregnant?!! ;) :teeth:

This early morning post is courtesy of my daughter who woke up at 6 a.m. to a "bad dream," and has since proceded to draw all over her arm and leg practicing the letter x. :rolleyes1

Jennifer, I hope your interview goes well today!

Tammi, great pictures from Nicholas' First Communion. Looking forward to seeing Alyssa's party pictures, too.

Robyn, your cake looked phenomenal!!! I noticed a definite resemblance between Mo and Emma, as well. What is it about age 4, making our girls look so grown up?!! :goodvibes

Janet, your haircut looks great! Sending you lots of strength for today's funeral. Please don't feel guilty about your upcoming trip...you deserve it!

Lindsay, I'm praying that your brother only manages to make your trip better, not stressful!

Marci, I hope confidence ran high over the weekend and all the games went smoothly!

Bernadette, more awesome creations!

Deb, I'm sorry about your work schedule. You've been there so long...did they just cut your hours because it's been slow? I hope you can work it out, rather than have to search for a new job.

Glynis, I was so happy to read that your ultrasound went well! :yay: What a relief that you caught those flight issues, too! Phew!

Karen, I'm sorry you have to find another night attendant. What did you think about the dog on DH last night? :)

Tia, sending you and Phil some extra :wizard:

I haven't had a chance to check out Denise's live trip report...I hope they are having a magical trip!

Congratulations to all the new Webkinz adoptions over the weekend! :rotfl:

Good morning to everyone else! :wave2: I hope you all have a GOOD Monday! :grouphug:

We had a busy weekend!

On Friday, we hit Hallmark to buy some cards, and we earned one free Webkinz (the black bear). Then we went to JCPenney for Alyssa's four-year-old portraits. It was a great session (Matty actually cooperated for a couple pictures with his big sister!), and I'm $200 poorer. :rolleyes1

Saturday, we hit Hallmark again, because I didn't realize you could get a free Webkinz for every $10 spent per person. Thus, I used my children to score three Webkinz that we will donate to the Republican picnic and auction in June (and most likely bid on and win ;) ). I also tried to find our laundry room's floor and Kevin worked in the yard.

Yesterday, our morning was spent at church. Last night, we had the pleasure of meeting Jack. Oh my gosh, he is so tiny and adorable. :lovestruc I have never seen so much soft, dark hair on a baby. Julie has given me permission to post pictures, but I have to upload them yet. ;)

I made fajitas for dinner, and since everyone (even the four kids) raved over the steak, I'll share the recipe:

Yields enough for a 2-3 lbs of steak

Ingredients:
4-5 large garlic cloves, crushed
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped roughly

I cut the steaks into strips and let it sit in the marinade for 24 hours.

Oh my heavens, you were chatty! I need to go back and find Chapter 6 to catch up and then get through all the pages here, too.

We had a synchro meet to go to yesterday about 3 hours from here in Albany. It was the qualifier for the May meet in Andover, Mass. I am thrilled to say that Laura's team took 1st place in their age group and is moving on! I am disappointed to say that Laura's duet didn't have their best swim yesterday and took 4th place out of 7. They needed 3rd to move on. She was disappointed, too, but saw the silver lining of having more time to practice figures and team. I haven't seen the official figure scores, but I think she had a good figure day, too, though she wasn't in the top 8 (nor were we expecting anything close to that).

I need to get some kids out the door, and then I will have a few minutes to start catching up.

I probably won't be around too much this week, because we have an open house at preschool which translates into a lot of extra work for me.

Have a great day, DDA!!!

Good morning. :)

Hi Elin. Did you get a car?

picked one out... waiting to hear why there is a price difference between the one I drove and the one I want. It was fresh off the truck and still wrapped in plastic when I got there yesterday, so I drove a different one. This is a very cool dealership to deal with, so far. Apparently their internet quotes are close to rock bottom and there has been no hassle so far. I have a couple of questions for the salesman and if they can "round out" the final price then we probably have a deal. I will let you know!

Amy - your fajita recipe looks good! What cut of meat did you use?

Well, so much for catching up this morning. I had a phone call to change one carpool which pretty much had a domino effect, so that resulting in more phone calls. Also, Miles wanted eggs and toast for breakfast. So now I'm running late, and I didn't get to catch up at all. :sad2:

I hope that I get a few minutes this afternoon.

Beth

Well I am off! My interview is in an hour--i cannot wait for it to be done! I feel prepared, but i always get so nervous before interviews! Ill be at work afterwards, but Ill post back later this afternoon and tell you guys how it went

have a great Monday everyone!

Here's the Pooh dress I made for Emma. This is the one I had to take apart but it looks so cute on now.

And some fun shorts for Lizzy:

Adorable. Is that a dress for Crystal Palace?

Can I tell you all how much I HATE dealing with airlines????? Alan bought 4 tickets to London on December 17 of last year. We booked the flight that we wanted, seats that we wanted, etc. It was done and we weren't going to have to worry about it. Well, we received a confirmation on December 18, so I've been checking periodically to make sure our departure times don't change (at least too much). Well, during our Spring Break, Alan was checking on them and noticed that instead of flying from Salt Lake to Newark then Newark to Heathrow, 3 of the tickets were the same, but one (for a minor child) was scheduled from SL to Houston, Houston to JFK, JFK to Gatwick!!! Not acceptable at all!

Alan called the airline and got the run around. He was finally able to leave a voice mail, and we've been waiting to hear back. Yesterday, he got a message on his voice mail from the airline, saying there is a problem with the tickets, and he needs to call ASAP!

He called last night at 5:00 and was told that Continental had CANCELLED THE FLIGHT 2 WEEKS AGO. We were not informed by email, phone call, postcard, etc. Nothing!!! So, from 5:00 until 7:00 last night, Alan was talking to Delta to try to work this out. At first, they wanted to put us on a flight that would get us from SL to Newark, then we'd have a 20 hour layover until a flight to Heathrow. NOT ACCEPTABLE! By the time he got off the phone, he had us booked on a flight from SL to JFK (red-eye), then we get upgraded to first class from JFK to Heathrow! Coming home, we are nonstop from Heathrow to SL with the possibility of first class.

Phew!!! We now have hard copies of the tickets tucked neatly away with my passport! I'm just glad that we had been checking periodically. It would have been horrible to show up on June 1st and be told there was no available flight for 3 days!

What an ordeal. It sounds like the effort was worth it as you now have first class. Do watch Delta though as they change flights constantly. Our only experience with them ended with a flight change sometime between when we left for the airport and when we arrived :scared1: Thankfully they bumped up to an earlier flight that was nonstop. The downside was the flight was leaving in 10 minutes and we had to go through the additional security check :headache:

You and me both! We need to start posting on the support thread again! With Deb's reminder the other night, I didn't have my second bottle of pepsi (though it was tough)!

:rotfl: :thumbsup2

Well I am off! My interview is in an hour--i cannot wait for it to be done! I feel prepared, but i always get so nervous before interviews! Ill be at work afterwards, but Ill post back later this afternoon and tell you guys how it went

have a great Monday everyone!

Good Luck

Well I didn't sleep well at all last night. I'm so upset over my schedule. The owner has backed himself into a corner since he keeps hiring thinking that we will get busier, but we don't. The newest waitstaff get a token one night to string them along. The problem is that a token night for them takes shifts away from the rest of us. The other problem is that he schedules by seniority. While I originally started there in 1992 I did not start waitressing until 14 months ago which puts me way down on the seniority list. When I agreed to waitress he made lots of promises which he isn't keeping. He even tells me that if anyone needs to give up a shift I'm first on the list. Turns out he tells anyone that didn't get enough shifts the same thing :headache: Obviously we need to have a heart to heart and that is what I had on my mind all night. I haven't decided if I'll go in to talk with him tonight or if I'll wait until my shift tomorrow night. All I know is that 2 good nights won't pay for vacation and the nights that I got are the worst 2 possible :headache:

Amy - your fajita recipe looks good! What cut of meat did you use?

I used Angus top sirloin, since it was the same price as the prepackaged skirt steak. After marinating for 24 hours, it was very tender!

The recipe could also be used for chicken, but it wouldn't need to be marinated nearly as long.

I hope all goes well at the car dealership! :wizard:

Yay, for Laura's team! :cheer2:

I hope your end-of-the-year open house goes well. When does your preschool let out? Alyssa's last day is May 14th!

Treat yourself to something sweet before you head back to work! Good luck! :wizard:

I'm sorry you lost sleep over this, Deb. That just doesn't seem fair that your seniority is based on 14 months of waitressing, not 16 years of working!!!

We're only going to have a high of 55 today, but I'll take that over the white stuff Vicki and Theresa were talking about over the weekend. I think we'll still walk to ballet.

Hope everyone is having a great morning! :goodvibes

I agree. And since I started busing tables in 1992 that must make me the most senior in that department. I've decided that if I can't get wait shift I will insist on getting bus shifts to make up the difference which should totally screw up his scheduling. I'm thinking a little leverage might go a long way. I hate to play dirty as it is not my style, but forced into a corner what's a girl to do?

Glynis - :cool1:  :dance3: Sounds like the dr news is good. I'm so happy to hear it!! Yikes on the flights! I'm glad that you got it all worked out (and in an even better way it sounds like - you deserve it!).

Robyn - Amazing cake! Looks like a great party. I'm happy that The Magic House (children's museum type place) has Moon Sand. She can play with it there and I can get out of buying it.

Becky - Sounds like a nice weekend! Our GS camping was great other than the sudden cold snap. 40ish at night was a bit much after the wonderful week or two we'd had up until the hour we left for camp.

Janet and Vicki - I think I missed them before, but prayers and :grouphug: for the losses in your lives.

Vicki - That is one major shopping spree! Hope the camper is ready for you now.

Karen - Argh! Can't believe your night attendant is gone already. Many :wizard: wishes for finding a new one ASAP. The puppy will work out and you'll have a new baby soon, I just know it!

Elin - Good luck car shopping today. I don't envy you. I'd have the perfect salesman for you in BIL if you were closer!

Tammi - Wonderful pics from the confirmation! Such a handsome young man and your family picture was perfect

Elizabeth - Glad your new computer is up and working. Dinner was probably cheaper than the Geek Squads offer, plus you get yummy food out of it! I'll be the Squad wasn't bringing food wit them. ;)

Deb - So glad that Chris gets to help with lacrosse. I know he was looking forward to it. Sounds like things are coming together in the house and camper. You'll get it all done! Hope that you can work things out with your boss and the additional shifts start reappearing ASAP. :wizard:

Kristine - How is Club Penguin with the charge? Is it very Webkinz like? Terra plays that, but only the free portion. She always wants to buy things, but has come to terms with the fact that only members can and I refuse to pay for the membership. I know, bad Mommy ;) , but I figure she's can play Webkinz and Build-a-bear-ville so she's fine.

Janet - Love the new haircut!

Bernadette - Hope there are no more spots and Emma is raring to go by the time you leave. Lots of :wizard: for a light case or, even better, no pox at all. Great sewing projects!

Amy - Can't wait to see the pictures of your kiddos and Jack. Please pass our congrats on to Julie!

Jen - Hope your interview went well!!
