DDA Chapter 7

It's been a busy morning. Matthew has two AP exams this week that start before school. Our plan was for dh to leave for work a little late and take him in. Well...we both forgot that the first test was today!

Matthew asked me at 7:20 if I was taking him in, and I was clueless and also unshowered. He needed to be there by 7:45, and it takes 15 minutes to get to the school. Miles wasn't awake (which he usually is), and Laura needs every minute of her morning to get ready. Somehow we managed to align all the stars and planets just right and get him there on time!

Now I'm ready for a nap. :rotfl: But I need to leave to get Miles to school and me to preschool.

I don't know if I'll make it back. We have to get preschool decorated for the Mother's Day teas. Miles has Art Club. Matthew has a track meet. I need to bake cookies and make fruit platters for the Mother's Day teas, and I don't even have the fruit yet, so that means shopping.

Yesterday was not so good, because on top of everything else that I had to get done, I forgot that the synchro meet entry had to be in the mail. The post offices all closed at 5:00, and I thought I had until 6:00. I did manage to drop it in a box that said last pick up at 5:45 about 5:44, but the box sounded like it had already been emptied. I'm praying that they accept this entry with a day late postmark. I will be in so much trouble if they don't. I'm feeling just a bit stressed right now!

Anyway...have a great day, DDA!!!

By the way, I think I must be losing my mind, because I used to be so much better about keeping all this stuff under control. Maybe there was just less stuff? :guilty:

Yep, every year the kids get older it means more stuff! :grouphug:

The phone rang this morning at 2:15, got up and ran to get it and fell. :headache: Missed the call, checked caller id and it was the hospital. Called Dawn to make sure it wasn't her and she called mom to check in, they are both fine.
 Sounds like you need a phone next to your bed. :thumbsup2

Jake has a soccer game tonight (if it's not rained out!), and Andrew's rec baseball team is playing a team with a lot of the kids from the tournament/select team tonight. My stomach is already in knots... Our rec team lost a good player last week -- he broke his ankle in a bouncy house... I'm not praying for a win (truly out of the question, as the other team has beaten every team including us by 15 or more runs)-- just a good game for Andrew so that his select team continues to have confidence and respect in him. Andrew is really enjoying getting to know those boys, and since he doesn't go to school with them it's somewhat of a challenge.

I'm still feeling crappy, but it could be much worse, so I've started taking antibiotics so it doesn't get out of control.

I hope everyone has a terrific day! :)
:wizard: :wizard: for the games tonight!

Well, I need to get my day started. I should be getting my shower and packing. Chuck would like to leave at 10am. Not sure if he'll be ready by then but I better be just in case. Chat with you later.
Safe travels today, Vicki. Also, here's some :wizard: for a favorable outcome at the trial.

I saw that but I'm confused. There is no boat with the Illuminations Dinner & Dessert party. There is a 'special viewing area' though.

Also, with the Magical Fireworks Cruise GG, do they only take out your group on the boat, or do you get put with other people?

For the Magical Fireworks Cruise, you go out with a group of other people. The boat probably holds about 50 people. When we went, the crew asked "pirate" questions and those with the right answers got prizes. I don't know if they do that still. This is what the DDA group did after the Mickey's and Minnie's got married.

Oh, I forgot about the GG dessert party. I was thinking you were asking about the regular Illuminations Cruise.

No boat...you eat dinner over at the Odyssey..then you go to a roped off area to watch Illuminations and have dessert.

The fireworks cruise: the boat holds around 30 people...so you are with other GG groups

Hey Deb-

chager just posted this (sorry I don't know how to pull a quote from a different thread) on the CB:

My ds13 has been complaining of stomach issues for 6 weeks! 2 ER visits, countless tests, still no answer. Interestingly enough several other kids from his class have had similar symptoms lately. No answers for them either. He will take Motrin to help control the pain when it gets bad. He also gets a bad upset stomach with it. No particular time of day either. So far the docs are thinking some strange virus.

here's the thread:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1816069

Thanks for the link. If this wasn't an issue that pops up on a fairly regular basis I would think viral, but since I've seen if before I suspect it is more stress induced.

Well, Dad's mystery was a good one! Apparently, Mom mentioned in their Sunday School class a few weeks ago that I had a potential job offer, but that we'd have to figure out transportation. Tonight, their Sunday School class teacher and his wife came over to ask if they could give us a car. It's a 1994 Volvo, but the mileage isn't too bad and it runs well. They had recently gotten a new one and hadn't decided what to do with this one. When Mom mentioned us to the class, they decided that was what they were meant to do. I thought that Phil was going to fall over in shock, he was so surprised. I had a suspicion that a car was involved somehow, but had no idea it would be this. What a blessing!!

On top of that, it looks like I may be a nanny as of Monday. It is with the lady from a few weeks ago. It seems we had some missed communications, but we talked on Friday and I met with her tonight. She still seems a little flighty sometimes, but in a handleable way, if that makes sense. There's also a lot going on for her right now with her job, finalizing a divorce and moving at the end of the month. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and give it a try. I think that it should work out okay. The girl that she had hired isn't working out I think more due to age and experience. She's younger and has never lived on her own or nannied for 3 kids. They are going to continue to use her as a babysitter in the evenings/weekend.

So, that's our excitement for the day! I've got to go get tags, etc for the car tomorrow, but after that we're good to go!!! Talk about answers to prayers!! Now if we can only find Phil a better job. I think we're on track to be back in a place of our own by the end of the year if things keep going the way they are. :goodvibes:

Wow, it seems that the stars are aligning for you. Congrats on the car and the nanny job.

Tomorrow Terra and I are headed over to the Ronald McDonald House to take Danae to the zoo. They got into town on Sunday for follow-up appts this week. Apparently the one this morning was not so good and it looks like Michael may have surgery next week to do some repair work. It's not as serious of a surgery as before, but not minor either. I guess they'll be around for a few more weeks again. :( Hopefully, they'll have some more details, etc after the tests and appts tomorrow.

:wizard: :wizard: That Michael recovers

:wizard:  I think you need a quiet Mother's Day to decompress:hug:

By the way, I think I must be losing my mind, because I used to be so much better about keeping all this stuff under control. Maybe there was just less stuff? :guilty:

I find that every year gets busier. I've been good about giving up a lot of the things that I used to volunteer for. It was either that or go crazy.

I saw that but I'm confused. There is no boat with the Illuminations Dinner & Dessert party. There is a 'special viewing area' though.

Also, with the Magical Fireworks Cruise GG, do they only take out your group on the boat, or do you get put with other people?

I'm pretty sure it is a big group of people. You meet for a dessert first then go to the boat for the fireworks. At least that's what I remember from when I booked. I obviously need more concrete answers, like what time to meet and where :rotfl2: I'll get there sometime.

Chris and the boys keep asking me what I want for Mother's Day and I really don't need anything. I finally told them that I'd like to go horseback riding at FW. The boys are too young so Chris will have to stay with them. I told him when he asked what I wanted that he was going to be jealous, but he insisted that he wouldn't be :rotfl: He was wrong :lmao: Now I need to do some research and decide on the best time/day to do it. Maybe I should just book it last minute when the weather is nice :confused3 It's something that I've always wanted to do so I'm sure it will be fun. I haven't been on a horse since I was a little girl.

Chris' father's day present arrived yesterday so I've tucked that away out of his sight.

I need to get ready to leave. Colby has school and his observation at 11:30 AM. I will run some errands while he is there. We have a fiesta at 5 PM and I need to bring a hot dish. We had planned to have pulled beef in the croc pot last night, but it wasn't cooked enough for dinner. I'm thinking I'll pull the beef apart and reheat it in the croc pot then add some rice to it. Does that sound Mexican? BBQ beef and rice :confused3 At least it's hot right?

Happy Birthday Bernadette!

I hope you are having a magical time at WDW!!!

:bday: party: :cake:  :bday:

Well, I made our OKW ressies for December. I had to waitlist for one of my nights and 3 nights for my parents. I hope they come through!

Happy belated Birthday, Heidi. :cake:

I'm sorry I missed posting to you this weekend. :goodvibes
