DDA Chapter 6

I made it home safe and sound. It was raining (sprinkling) most of the way in the Lower Peninsula. The roads were wet but not slippery. Within 10 minutes of crossing into the U.P., the skies cleared and the roads were dry all the way home. Just wanted to stop in and let you all know I'm here.

Oh, I'm so glad you just hit the rain!

We started our day with the kids last day of bowling. They invite the local police stations to send officers to bowl with the kids. Colby really enjoyed it, but Nick and Hunter bickered the whole time. From there we went to the bingo hall for the awards ceremony. Nick and Hunter's team which was in 1st place last year end this year in 6th place. They got very small trophies. Colby's team (which Summer and Logan are also on) took 1st place in their division. They were so cute.

After bowling, Nick had a tech crew party to attend. It was at school and they got to use the sound equipment. I think he had fun though he didn't say much (he's at that age where he doesn't say much about anything)

Wonderful pictures, Deb! The rooms did really turn out great!

I had the nicest surprise tonight! Kristin called from the highway to tell me that she and two friends from school were on their way to town to take me out to dinner. So, I met them at Cheeseburger in Paradise for a wonderfully fun-filled evening. Then they just showed up on my patio because they wanted to talk some more before heading back to Richmond. What a terrific end to my day. :)

What a wonderful surprise, and a lovely evening! :cloud9:

Thanks for the comments on Nick's room. I got a little sappy tonight when I realized that most of his "kid" things are gone. He still has 2 Mickey Piggy banks and a stuffed Mickey that is actually speakers for his MP3 player. Everything else is gone :sad1: His room looks so mature. The good news is that he only moved his stuffies to his closet, he wasn't totally ready to part with them yet :goodvibes At least Hunter's room still has the bright colors so you know it is a kid's room. Sappy...I know...

Does the stuffed Mickey dance? With the speaker being in his foot? If so, my mom definitely just bought the Minnie for the girls' room :rotfl:

Jennifer, I took the liberty of making a stick family shirt for you.

Debbie, that is really great! I love the clipart on the t-shirts. Wonderful job! :goodvibes

I hope the rest of you are also doing well! :goodvibes We've had a very busy, but very nice weekend. I have come to dislike packed weekends a bit since it makes Monday seem to arrive so much faster.... but I'm getting closer to being finished at work, which is helpful!

I saw Amy and Alyssa yesterday, and Amy looks fantastic! I was a bit taken aback when I remembered we were "due" at the same time, it certainly didn't look like it! :rotfl: Alyssa was a true princess at a shower that might ordinarily be a bit much for such a young lady, but I'm not at all surprised princess:

Today after church, the ladies there are throwing what I believe is the last of our showers. I am so overwhelmed at how much these girls are loved already! Kyle and I have had a wonderful time putting everything away, and I just can't wait to meet them! :cutie: :cutie:

Here are a couple of pictures from the science fair yesterday.

Hunter's display

Summer's display (I think Mom may have helped :rolleyes1 )

My kids displays always looked more like Hunter's as well. He did a great job!

Jennifer - It sounds as if you are doing quite well considering you are harboring two little ones on a daily basis. How nice that you got to see Amy and Alyssa yesterday. It is always fun to share pregnancies with friends, so I am glad you have that network, including Julie. Enjoy this lovely Sunday!

The rest of my day/evening was spent on Nick's room. I ran out while he was at his party to see if I could find a comforter as his old one looked old against the fresh paint. Mom had the 30% off at Kohl's and I was lucky enough to find striped bedding that matched the paint chip I had in my purse :lmao: Of course it was on deep clearance so I HAD to buy the matching curtains, valance and throw pillow. I even found a rug to match. All for just over $100 which isn't bad if I do say so myself :rotfl2: I managed to sort through the books and reload the new bookcase, got the closet doors on and all the other odds and ends done. The only things left in that room is to paint the door casing one more time and find a couple of photos of him and Tuffy for his photo collage. He made a big collage of photos of "his" dog as he still misses him terribly. So here is the big reveal.

This is standing in our clearly unfinished entry looking at Nick and Hunter's rooms

Some of the photos have weird shadows that aren't there in Real Life

That looks like a wonderful young man's bedroom! I love what you guys did with it. What does he think of it?

Good morning, Vicki! :wave2: How is your weather in the UP?

Good morning DDA! It is a lovely day here in the U.P. The sun is shining again. Maybe more of this snow will melt. We have about 4 inches left in the driveway even. Chuck said it snowed continuously from sometime Friday night until Saturday morning about 9:30am.

:lmao: I typed my good morning message with how it is here this morning before I saw your note.

Sounds like Mother Nature knew Vicki was coming home! :thumbsup2

More prayers & pixiedust: needed for my family. Remember the cousin I said had cancer. Well, we got more details. She had a biopsy and we are waiting to here if it is cancer. My uncle got the message garbled. So prayers & pixiedust: that it is NOT cancer.

However, the reason for more prayers & pixiedust: is said Uncle from above is having some serious health issues and is currently in intensive care. So prayers & pixiedust: that they find out what is causing his problems.

Good morning DDA

Deb- Nick's room looks :cool2: Way to go!

Debbie- I love the stick figures! Great job.

Elin- Your evening sounds glorious!

Jennifer- :cheer2: for nearing the end of work.

Janet- I love the new furniture.

Vicki- Glad you made it home safely.

So today I got up and went to the Delegate meeting.

Our annual Girl Scout Council meeting is scheduled for next Saturday. I got an invitation stating that I'm getting an award. I've already received most of the awards so I'm not sure what this one is. I'm still not sure if I can make the meeting.
