Whoo Hoo! I'm a guru! :teeth: And why does everyone think they are bothering me WHEN I'M AT WORK and DOING MY JOB?! :rotfl:

eta: but i'll still be up early calling!

Well, I did email after I thought I had figured it all out... :rotfl2:

now, if only the New England summer vacation would fall together more affordably... Think the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism is offering free dining or 40% off hotel and car rental prices?

What's the difference between a strip steak and a striploin? We are trying to decide our menu...
Grilled New York Strip Steak - topped with button mushrooms and roasted garlic served with piped whipped potatoes and veggie medley
Slow Roasted Striploin - sliced and served with horseradish merlot jus served with piped mashed potatoes and veggie medley
It looks like they are the same cut of meat (when I attempt to google) but just cut differently??

(If anyone wants to see some of our other choices let me know! I don't mind sharing because we are having a heck of a time trying to narrow down what we actually want to try at the tasting...)

As a red meat guru :teeth: I'd say the cuts of meat are the same, but the striploin is probably served more like London Broil since the menu states, "sliced." I think it's funny that one comes with whipped potatoes and one comes with mashed.

Now I'm hungry! :)

Our mortgage officer just called me to let me know that our loan processor was killed in a car accident this morning. She was 27 years old. Our mortgage officer is having a very tough time dealing with it. What a tragic loss. She wanted us to know that our loan could be slowed by this. That is so unimportant in the whole spectrum at this point :sad1:

Very sad. :(

We had a scare in our family this morning. Two firefighters were killed when a floor collapsed. The news kept reporting that one was a part-time firefighter, but fortunately, Kevin's cousin finally got a hold of her husband who was on the scene. Such a tragedy for the other families though. :(

Lansing is closer to me! And slightly less snow too! :teeth:

I'll add those to my pro side of the list! :rotfl: I'm also closer to Disney which is already on the list. It is also cheaper for flights which is on the pro list. :lmao:

The gnome was 26.95....I think it was around 15 for the shipping.

The kids like him....now they want to start a gnome collection  so for right now we compromised and ordered "George the mini gnome" he can travel with us and I told them hey can take pictures of him at different places....I guess you would say he's a "PAL GNOME" :rotfl:

We want pictures on the Pal Mickey & friends adventures & fashions thread once you get him and he starts travelling! :lmao: I'm really serious!!!!!!

Channon-I think you are right in they are the same cut just cut differently.
I would love to see your choices!!

that is sad:guilty:

I get those too, but I just take a needle and pick at them until I get the center out. I didn't realize that I was doing a medical procedure though :thumbsup2

What's funny is that I almost did this myself. I probably will in the future now that I know that is all they do to remove them.

Like anyone on here would want to listen to food choices...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I don't know any difference between the steaks... have you asked the banquet staff?

I just received an email from AR (my favorite CM)

She wrote in part

I want to thank you for that great letter you wrote to WDW on my behalf. Believe it or not, it took until late January before it finally reached me. The good part was it was sent all the way up to the desk of Erin Wallace, WDW Senior Vice President of Operations and I was presented with a Disney "Star" Pin (really neat pin) and a special Cast Member Recognition and copy of the letter signed off by Erin "Arlene, thank you for making magical memories for our guests". It was read at one of our team meetings and I was presented the pin. It was really neat!! Thanks for making a magical moment for me.

I was surprised at the lengths that Disney went with this. I'm very impressed.

That's wonderful Deb. I'm glad that AR was recognized for making your trip special.

I'm sorry that I've been MIA the last few days. This week has been H E L L

Tuesday was the bus incident. It appears that 2 kids have been suspended as a result. Today I brought a box of chocolates out to the bus driver to Thank him for looking out for my kids. He was shocked, but I wanted him to know that we were thankful that he dealt appropriately with the situation. I also hope that it keeps him motivated to continue to do so.

Yesterday I stopped by Best Buy to check on the status of a TV that I had brought in for potential repair. I paid $35 to have them ship it to a repair center to be diagnoses. They were to call to let me know what was wrong and to give the a repair cost. The initial paperwork gave an estimate of $64 I hadn't heard anything so I stopped in last week and they were going to look into it and contact me, but still nothing. Yesterday they pull it up and tell me that it has been fixed and that I owe an additional $140 :scared1: I did not authorize the repair and certainly would not have. It is a 3 year old TV and I'd rather put that $140 into buying a new one with a warranty. I still have no idea what they plan to do about it as the tv did work (though poorly) before I dropped it off.

This morning I got up with high expectation of getting a lot done on Nick's room. I started by heading into Hunter's room to hang the closet doors. I inadvertedly put my hand on his desk only to leave a huge void. His entire room was covered in a white dust. I thought that my mother must have sanded while I was at work (which I had told her NOT to do). I started cleaning his room (which was completely brand spanken new on Monday. Then I noticed the dust on all of our electronics in the living room. After 4 hours of cleaning I was in tears as I felt like I had been set back by DAYS not just hours. I called my mother (crying no less) and she swore that she hadn't sanded, but she would come down to help me clean. As I went back into Nick's room I picked up a hammer that was speckled with white paint and the dust. Well I had used the hammer before work yesterday which meant the dust occurred last night. It turns out that Chris had used our new paint sprayer to pain the doors and it had created a white vapor that travelled throughout the house leaving a white dust. Thankfully it comes off by dusting, but what a mess. And to make matters worse the paint gun had left the door all blotchy so I had to hand paint them anyway. So now I am way behind schedule and totally stressed out. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I'm so sorry to hear this Deb! :grouphug: I wish that I lived nearby so that I could come help you out!

Happy Friday, DDA!

Sorry I've been MIA again - this has just been one of THOSE weeks. I can't even really put my finger on what has me in a funk, but according to Jonathan I need to snap out of it! I'm hoping the weekend will help (although that does include doing taxes, cleaning, going to an art show and movie - neither of which I'm intersted in, etc., so who knows! ;) )

I've been reading along, but things are kind of a blur! Lots of :wizard:  :grouphug: :cheer2: for anyone I inadvertently miss!

Elizabeth - I know I missed you, but I hope you have a good weekend with your mom! Lots of continued :wizard:   for you all. It sounds like the news is a bit more encouraging than at first!

Deb - I'm so sorry to hear about the fumes fiasco! I think I would have broken down, too. I don't know what it is about the dust that is generated when doing home improvements, but that is just some wicked stuff. I hope your day continues to look up, and that you enjoy the bowling this weekend. I was so sorry to read about your loan processor - how tragic.

Amy - happy belated birthday to Alyssa! Good luck with all the party prep, and make sure we get to see some pics one of these days. :goodvibes

Anne Marie - two weeks! :cool1: You must be getting so excited! Do you feel prepared?

Elin - good luck with all the package scenarios! What would we do with ourselves if there wasn't Disney Math to be done? ;)

Robyn and Tia - I'm going to have to check out that NKOTB footage, if nothing else for laughs! ;) They were my 1st concert ever, and I just LOVED them. When I heard they were regrouping, I was thinking - but they have to be in their 40's by now!

Tia - thanks for the head's up on the new Bounce Back dates! Another DIS friend of mine just returned from the GF, and shared the new dates with us - very cool that they've extended it out! Of course, only 2 of my December dates fall under that umbrella, and being that rooms are scarce at AKL CL, I'm sure I'll just have to be happy with my AAA discount. A girl can dream, though!

Chanon - good luck with the honeymoon plans! Sounds like you guys will have some full days (but good days!). :thumbsup2

Jennifer - glad to hear the girls are still growing as they should! Take care of yourself in the meantime! (BTW - I am very jealous of your "days left of working" ticker!)

Kristine - love the gnome! Don't know that I could ever see myself with one, but I will look forward to pics of your new traveling companion!

Marci - good luck with all the baking this weekend! It sounds like another full one for you. :wizard: for the boys' game!

Theresa - :wizard: for Abi, and for you! You are a good mommy!

Vicki - glad to hear your procedure wasn't too terrible. I hope the bruisng and swelling go away soon!

And with that, I need to get back off of here. Have great afternoons!

That would be a typo on my part. To me, whipped is mashed no matter how they try to play up the potatoes! :rotfl:

Belated Birthday wishes for Alyssa!party: :bday: party:

Elizabeth-sorry I missed you. Hope you have a nice weekend visiting with your Mom.

On the Disney Screening Room thing I was invited to join after the Mom Panel rejection ( ;) ) we've started getting clips from the new Tinkerbell movie. Thought some of you might be interested. Here's the first one:
http://www.totaleclips.com/player/Splash.aspx?custid=864&clipid=e38758&playerid=2&affiliateid=-1

There will be more posted over the next week or two. If anyone's interested I can post them as they are posted to us.
That was pretty funny! Would love to see them.

Don't know anything more about it, but I saw this mentioned on the Dec'08 code thread. Lyndsey - Don't know if you could take advantage of it. Bernadette, want to add a Dec trip, say the 5-15, and tag me on as a 2nd room? ;) :rotfl:
I would love to but I don't know what DH would think.

How tragic!

when I need her brainstorming? :rotfl:

Let me type this all out (so I don't inundate Chanon with this drivel!)...

We have a AAA package with discount booked for our September trip. I am looking at the possibility of having the free dining promotion available to us for that trip. So, I worked out some numbers and came up with this.

4 nights @ Polynesian (Lagoon View) at rack rate + 1 day base ticket and no dining = $2133.54 (this is what free dining would give us)

same package with DDP added = $2437.46
same package with Deluxe DDP added = $2693.46

difference we would need to pay if we were allowed to upgrade to Deluxe DDP appears to be $256

so, the free dining package w/ upgrade ought to be about $2389.46

4 nights @ Polynesian (Lagoon View) w/ AAA discount + 1 day base ticket + Deluxe Dining = $2396.50

Am I missing something here? Is is about equal? Have I missed something??
There is a simpler approach.

AAA is a 15% discount on your LV room so $440 X .15 = $66 + 12.5% tax = $74.25

You give up the $74.25 discount per day to get free dining at 37.99 for 2 adults is $75.98 per day.

:wizard: Hope you get a great AP rate!

I read this on the codes board...

Here are the details for 2008 Free Dining. 08/24/08 - 09/20/08. Disney Visa holders can book on 04/07/08 with code AYG...General public opens up on 04/10/08
Will you book a 2nd package for free dining? I don't think I will bother & I'm sure what my chances of getting a suite would be anyways. I guess I should run my numbers.

OK just did....I am saving $41.40/night with 20% AAA on ASMU family suite. The meal plan for the 5 of us is $105.95 so I would save $64.55/night with free dining or $258.20 for the last 4 nights of our stay BUT I would have to buy $342.94 worth of tickets to do so. I think I'll just leave things the way they are.

Very sad. :(

We had a scare in our family this morning. Two firefighters were killed when a floor collapsed. The news kept reporting that one was a part-time firefighter, but fortunately, Kevin's cousin finally got a hold of her husband who was on the scene. Such a tragedy for the other families though. :(

 I'm having the same sort of week.

I too am hoping getting a few things done around the house will help. I did electronically file my taxes yesterday morning so it is good to know those are all set.

And that is precisely why you deal with numbers in real life! I only have to be able to count to 9 usually... and not often, as most music is not in 9/8 time. :upsidedow
