DDA Chapter 6

me too... Bob would LOVE the American Orient Express trips!

We ended up watching that so we wouldn't forget to watch the WDW show! When they said you stay on the train for 8 days DH and I looked at each other and said EIGHT days? :scared1: No train for us.

Remind me again why I'm going to the meeting/celebration tomorrow? I was hoping that as it got closer, I'd get more excited about it but that isn't happening. :confused3 Girl Scouts was a big part of my life for the last 10-11 years.

I got to that point with volunteering. It is just burn out. I hope you enjoy the event anyway!

So yesterday Nicholas told me that he would like to play baseball. This was 2 weeks after he told me that he didn't like baseball because he wasn't really good at it. Guess when registration ended....yep, yesterday. So this morning I talked to his dad to see if he would take him to his games on the weekends that he had him. He agreed, so tonight I went and paid the $20 late fee and signed him up for baseball. Soccer is over in the beginning of May and baseball starts on the 19th. I hope he likes it.

DS really wanted to play, but he only wanted to play on a team with kids from his school. Then with my mom not knowing what all will be happening I didn't look for a team. I hate not signing him up for somehting he WANTS to do, but I think it would have been a problem with scheduling. Not to mention that I don't know any other boys from his school who are playing!

That's cute, Bernadette!

Bernadette, you are on a tear with the sewing! It all looks great! :thumbsup2
As much as I would love to do V&A it would possibly be a very expensive mistake for myBob. He has gotten more adventurous, but not enough to take what they "dish up" on a regular basis. ;)

I don't think V&A is my kind of restaurant, but it does look nice.

Speaking of kids, have I told you all that his ex has picked up and moved to St. Augustine, FL. She is giving Bob custody of Bethany during the school year, and she wants her for 8 weeks in the summer. Her house here in VA was foreclosed on, so she quit her job and moved to FL with what Bob calls her "flavor of the month". Actually she has been dating this guy since the fall. I just can't believe that a mother would leave her child behind to move with her latest fling. It's pretty much a done deal, they are just working out the formalities of holiday visitations. Good for Bob, but her behavior is very sad, IMO.

I think I know her twin! :scared: But the woman I know would never give up the kids because she would never give up the support checks that come with them.
It is sad for Bethany, but she will probably be better off this way.

Good morning from Port Canaveral!!!!!!!!!!

We are at the Residence Inn & heading over to the Kennedy Space Center. The hotel is very clean & the staff is very friendly.

:goodvibes to everyone!

Yay!! Have fun, Anne Marie & Family!!!

I wasn't all that impressed with the Disney Splurge. I told DS he could change channels 10 minutes before it was over, so I missed most of the ABD part. I didn't see anything new or amazing during the first 50 minutes. :confused3

I think I will head over to Macy's this morning and see if they have anything good that the other store didn't have. I'm meeting Marci at 2 PM. :) I am picking Princess up at 5:15 to take her to dinner. After dinner I'll take her back home and watch her for the evening.

Then we go to see Hairspray at 2.
Is that tonight? Have a great time!

Bernadette, the material and outfits are adorable! :goodvibes

I will be working the entire weekend.
Thanks!

Don't work too hard.

You all make me wish I liked sewing enough to even feign interest! The finished product (and the number of options!) is so cute!

My in-laws are coming today, at an undisclosed time, for an undisclosed amount of time.... while Kyle is not here. :headache: I appreciate the thought tremendously, but I think they should have waited until I was more stir-crazy, and looking for whatever interaction I can find! :rolleyes1
Thanks!

Have a nice day!;)

I received a notice from Air Tran for a flight change for May. My flight coming home leaves a 1/2 later, I can deal with that :thumbsup2
:woohoo:

I just came to my computer to print out a new pattern piece. Back to cutting out and sewing!

Anne Marie I am so glad you were able to pop in, have fun today!

Robyn sounds like a busy weekend for you!

Tammi hope you can get some rest today.

Jennifer enjoy your company ;)

I feel like most (all?) of the Disney specials on TV are that way. We all know WAY too much to actually "get" anything from any of them! For me, it's just fun to see and get a little fix. I totally agree though, that there is never anything worthwhile if you're looking for a tip! ;)

Thanks Janet for the dittoable post. :cool1: on the later flight home!

Elizabeth and Marci- Have fun today!

Stephanie- Have fun this weekend/week with the GOTV!

My soup is in the crockpot! I have to tell you I think I have the weirdest child. I was cutting up the veggies and I used some parsnips and turnips. Molly saw the turnip on the counter and grabbed and took a bite. "Mmmm this is good Mommy!" :crazy2: I can't imagine eating it raw and thinking it was tasty. She continued to munch on it for about 10 minutes.

Off to shower and and get the girl's bags packed. Have a great Saturday!

Guess what babies just got a package?! (Addressed specifically to them, which I got a kick out of!) Inside was an adorable outfit set (lots of mix & match pieces) that said "I'm the Little Miracle that Came True" :cloud9:

And......

The girls' first custom outfits! princess: princess: How cute is this?!

The tag reads "Fun in the Sun with Pooh and Friends; HandMade original by the Old Vermonter" :teeth:

Thank you, Brooks family! :goodvibes

(So seriously... how much work is the actual sewing? Because I would LOVE the designing and the dressing.... but the in between stuff, I'm not so sure about. You all are going to have me hooked though! Well, I mean, if I could figure out how. Oh, and where to find a sewing machine :rotfl: )

y'all have been chatty and i have had a busy week. i just caught up from last weekend.

Tammi-poor Bethany. at least she has a dad that is stable and there for her. maybe this is a good thing.

Jen-congrats on your interview and passing the first round. i saw a show today on travel channel about Alaskan cruise i was jealous.

Glynis i am sorry to hear of you niece passing

we had a visitor come to our house Tuesday morning. a bird flew into our house at 6 am. it was tough getting him out but he finally left Wednesday afternoon. they have also started on our house. i have interviewed some people for the night position and i have 9 this week too. i had a interview for a job but we will see.

The meeting and awards ceremony is over. I'm at the library waiting to go to dinner. I got the Peninsula Waters Pin. That is the name of our council (or at least is until April 30 when we merge with other councils in Wisconsin). It was nice to see everyone. Katrina is coming with me to the Sunset Celebration tonight. It is from 7-10pm. My friend & coworker is going to dinner with us. Talk to you all later.

Do you know how hard it is to write a paper with trees being made into mulch and several tractors zooming around outside? Plus the birds outside are being noisy. I guess I will find something else to do til it quiets down a bit outside. But I really need to write this paper. But my mind is highly distracted and can not seem to shut off the outside noise.

Walmart... ;) Seriously! For under $100 you can get started!

Those outfits are just precious!

Winter/Summer

With the littler ones, I'd probably agree with this! It's lots of fun and a little easier than Fantasia from what I've heard. When she was 13mo, Terra loved crawling (wasn't walking yet) around the course while Rachel and I played.

Dress rehearsal went well this morning. We are premiering a piece that was commissioned by the University of Mary Washington in commemoration of our Centennial Celebration this year. It is also in memory of a dear friend of mine, Dr. Patricia P. Norwood, who died suddenly last month. She was chair of the Department if Music and a most amazing woman. I can't wait to perform it tomorrow night with piano and string quartet. The lyrics are from Psalm 67 and the composer (David Kidwell, who is also an alum of my school) is in residence this semester, so it was very cool to have him sit in on our dress rehearsal this morning.

We are also performing 5 Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre. The Hebrew lyrics were written as poems by his wife when they were in Israel and dating. Absolutely phenomenal. He is 38 years old and his writing is like a dream. Our third piece is Nun ist das Heil und die Kraft, a JS Bach choral cantata (with organ).

Then we myBob and I went to lunch with friends. I went back out to do a little shopping for dinner. We are having a light meal since we ate ribs for lunch. On the menu: Melon with prosciutto and a balsamic drizzle, Asiago cheese and a Sobon Estates Old Vines Zinfandel. Dessert will be DarkDarkDarkDark Chocolate. Yum!

I hope everyone has a delightful evening. I will check in later.

How sad. Though good for Bethany in some ways I'm sure. I know of 3 other moms who have done that. At least 2 asked for custody of the kids again a year or so later and wanted them to move to her state. Both ended up that way as the new agreement wasn't good enough to protect the dad. I know yourBob will do the agreement right. (These dad's weren't much better than the moms IMO.)

mine was under $60....at WalMart...regular price was under $100.

I need to make some grocery bags this weekend, thanks for the reminder!!

:rotfl: At first I thought you were accusing someone of purchasing the outfits from Walmart! :rotfl:

What a wonderful lineup, including that beautiful tribute to your friend! I must say, though, that I really quoted this because I could not be more in love with Eric Whitacre's arrangements!!! My choral group at Miami did something of his every year for as long as I can remember, and he was even our guest conductor one year (we have a quasi-famous one each spring, because my director is apparently so important. I say apparently, becuase he is a freaking prodigy in all aspects of music and has been since he was a young child, plus his father is some professional singer famous in some circles (I personally had no taste for his music)..... but we just went to parties with him :rolleyes1 ).

One of the first pieces I can remember singing was Water Night, which, while we were learning it was horrifying (those totally bizarre chord choices he makes!). The first time we "got it" though, and it wasn't bizarre chord choices plus 100 different voices doing their own thing ;) gave me chills! From there on out, every song we did of his was immediately my favorite! I think my favorite now, while I'm not singing any, has to be Lux Aurumque. Or Water Night :)

Ahh, what a wonderful conversation to have. I hate being so removed from that group! :flower3:

ETA: In case you're curious, I'm trying to remember (and look through music I have on my laptop). Right off hand, I can remember doing A Boy and a Girl, Five Hebrew Love Songs, Water Night, Lux Aurumque (a few times), She Weeps Over Rahoon (more often done by the men's glee club), Sleep and Winter. The class after me did Three Songs of Faith, which was also gorgeous!

ETA: (again) -- ooh, ooh! Do you also know anything from Morton Lauridsen? He's another of my absolute favorites. Very different than Eric Whitacre!
