DDA Chapter 5

Thanks, everyone.
I just called my cousin. She said my sister can stay with them for the summer - they are just an hour from my mom and they have a guest room with a bathroom. Here my sister would be stuck in a corner of my living room. My mother said my sister might prefer to stay with my other sister (fine, whatever) but I don't see how that would be much better! Seems to me that staying with my cousin (whose DD is my sister's age) would be better for everyone!
I have no idea how long a course of chemo would be. If the chemo lasts until school is out then I can bring my sister back with me after the surgery. I just don't think she will be happy here because she won't be allowed to go anywhere or drive or anything else.

My sister says it's tiring. She didn't have any leave time from her job and worked the entire timeshe went through her partial mastectomy and treatments. I don't know how she did it.

does anyone have the ability to open a .cwk file?

That is a ClarisWorks file and I did an internet search. It says that only ClarisWorks or AppleWorks will open it. I don't have either of those. I am checking to see if there is a converter but haven't seen one yet.

Thanks Vicki...

I finally figured out I could open it sort of in Word...although it's somewhat jumbled, I am able to get the gist. This is for Kirsten and her astronaut project...I swear it's haunting me

I'm sorry, but I found this rather funny. :rotfl:

Lindsay - Thank you. :)

Sally - I don't think she really has a good grasp of what the chemo will be like. I guess we'll see what happens.

I am going to go see her next weekend. DS and I will fly up there Friday morning and come home Sunday.

I was hoping I could find a converter for Microsoft Word for that extension that could be downloaded but it doesn't look like one is available. I'm really glad that you can at least get the gist of it.

Colby is doing very well too. He has only had one wet morning in the last 2 weeks  Maybe I won't have to drag pull ups to WDW this trip :cool1:
Horray for Colby!!!!!!!

Morning, everyone!

Robyn - How's Molly doing this morning? Everything ok in the potty department?

Deb - Take care of yourself, ok? We don't want you getting all sick and yucky before your trip!

Kristine - This astronaut assignment is intriguing. Won't you be glad when it's done?

Paula - Good to see you! How are things going with the girls? I miss pictures of them!

Tammi - How is Nicholas feeling, today? Any more big spring cleaning projects? You inspired me to wash my curtains, so that's what's going on here!

Becky - Your pictures look so good! You are such an amazingly beautiful woman! I hope your application goes well! We know you are wonderful 100% of the time!

Elizabeth - I just wanted to let you know that my aunt got really sick during her chemo treatments, and one of her nurses told her that she should drink 8 ounces of purple grape juice before her treatments, and another 8 ounces after her treatment and that would help with the nausea. It really seemed to help her! As for telling momboss, I think an email would be just fine. Some things are hard to vocalize without falling apart. You guys are in my prayers, and will continue to be there for as long as you need them!

Theresa - Sorry about the fighting at your house! Sounds like normal times to me! My kids have been at each other's throats, lately! I think it's because they want to be outside all the time, but it's just not warm enough for them to be there for long periods.

So, Alan and I are on the outs today! He called me on his way home from work last night to tell me that he was coming home. No problem, he does this every day, since he has a 45 minute commute, it let's me know when to have dinner ready for him. Just before he hangs up he says, "Oh, by the way, I'm only going to be home for a few minutes to freshen up. I'm working on my freelance project tonight." Well, this was the first I'd heard of it! I told him that I don't mind him working with a client, but I'd like a bit of a head's up. Just to be included. I told him that I'm beginning to feel like he's cutting me out of that portion of his life. Not to mention the fact that he promised Jacob that they would start his Pinewood Derby car last night. Talk about one disappointed 8 year old! Alan couldn't figure out why I was so angry. Hopefully, we'll both cool off today and talk it through when he gets home tonight.

I love all of my volunteers but a few hold special places in my heart. Suzann is one of them....

Last week she had a fainting episode and hit her lip on the edge of the desk...scared the bejeebers out of me. But we got to teasing about it and I told her I'd have to belt her into the seat from now on. So what did she come into work wearing this morning?? that's right....A huge belt:rotfl:

Thanks, Glynis! I will mention the grape juice to her!
The thought of purple grape juice makes me queasy - it was one of the things I couldn't keep down when I was pregnant. :scared:

I hope you get things sorted out with Alan! It's no fun to be in a fight. I hope he makes time to help Jacob with the derby car soon. It is a really time consuming project! DH lined the bottom of the cars he made with DS with flattened lead fishing weights to make it heavier. They could weigh 1 lb., but not more than that. DH said the car will go faster if it is heavy. :confused3

Make sure she is getting enough salt in her diet. That is one of the main things that the doctors have told us Becky needs to do to curb the fainting spells. We didn't add salt to anything in our house. We have started to since the doctor recommended it for her.

How cute! She sounds like a fun lady! :goodvibes

I am glad to see this, Elizabeth.

she told me it doesn't happen often but they never could figure out why it was happening when it did. I will talk to her about it....such a silly goose.
She was on slim4life and lost a good deal of weight and stopped taking their "herbs" and has put some back on but she can finally go to the dr. when she wants as she is finally eligible for Medicaid.

Glynis - I hope you and Alan get back in each other's good graces tonight.

Theresa - Your volunteer, Suzann, sounds like a lot of fun!

she's my fun one...then one Betty (I have three working for me) is my mom away from mom:goodvibes , and Phylis is one of my staunchest supporters and one of my Sue's (I have 2) is the world traveller and I live vicariously through her.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Suzann just came in and asked me how I liked her hair....she just saw herself in the mirror and said who the heck is that lady:rotfl2: She did her hair differently. I tell you she is the sweetest and funniest lady. :goodvibes

Glynis-I hope you and Alan work it out and he makes it up to Jacob.

OK.
My mother just called. The surgeon she saw today is certain it is cancer. They did a biopsy, and they told her if it comes back negative they will do it again becasue they are convinced it is cancer. There is a 3 cm tumor.
She sees the oncologist next Wednesday. The surgeon she saw today said they will probably do a round of chemo first to try to shrink the tumor, then she will have a mastectomy.
I told her I will fly up for her surgery. She wants to put it off until school is out. I told her she will NOT put it off.
I don't know what else to say right now. I am so worried that she has let it go for too long.

I'm so sorry, Elizabeth. I really hope that she listens to you and doesn't put off the surgery. Lots of prayers and :wizard: for you all. :wizard: :grouphug:

Thanks Lindsay! Gary told me just a couple more days lol He is finishing the trim now, then we will start on the floor.

Janet - hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel for the 1st stages of your bathroom remodel!

I couldn't imagine going through treatments & still trying to work.

My sister says it's tiring. She didn't have any leave time from her job and worked the entire timeshe went through her partial mastectomy and treatments. I don't know how she did it.
