DDA Chapter 5

To give you the whole story, I had two cousins that had trouble saying V's as well. One called me Bicky and the other called me Gicky. I had hearing problems as a child. So I could tell they weren't saying it right. One of them would say my name and I'd yell "My name isn't Gicky (or Bicky), my name is Hicky Hue Homas!" My parents always got a good laugh at my insistence on how to pronounce my name.

When I graduated from high school, dad wrote HHH on the envelope with my graduation card. It took me a couple of minutes to understand what it meant. When my aunts (dad's sisters) starting giggling, it hit me!

That is too cute! :goodvibes

Thanks, everyone.
I just called my cousin. She said my sister can stay with them for the summer - they are just an hour from my mom and they have a guest room with a bathroom. Here my sister would be stuck in a corner of my living room. My mother said my sister might prefer to stay with my other sister (fine, whatever) but I don't see how that would be much better! Seems to me that staying with my cousin (whose DD is my sister's age) would be better for everyone!
I have no idea how long a course of chemo would be. If the chemo lasts until school is out then I can bring my sister back with me after the surgery. I just don't think she will be happy here because she won't be allowed to go anywhere or drive or anything else.

I'm glad some of the details are falling into place

I've read along but haven't had time to reply. :wizard:, :cheer2: and 's all around. And my enter key broke on my laptop so it's very difficult to do much. The new keyboard should be here tomorrow. Molly and I just spent 3 lovely hours at the "Moon Doctors", the urgent nighttime clinic. She started screaming this afternoon when she use the potty saying it burned and then would not use the potty again. I figured there was no way that I was going to wait, I didn't want her to fear going to the potty. Thankfully, it seems that now there is nothing but the dr. did give a prescription in case it starts to get worse in the next few days. I am now headed to bed as I am exhausted- hungry too as I skipped dinner. At least I won't waste away ;)

Thank goodness Molly is ok! Hopefully it won't come back... and I'm glad you thought quickly to avoid any aversions to the potty, since you all have been working so hard!

I enjoyed the catch up reading. I have a few thing to do before bed.

Read ya again soon.

Good to see you, Paula! :goodvibes

Good morning all!

off to work, then out with some of my coworkers for happy hour--its been a long week and they mentioned it yesterday so off we go!
Its so funny when we go because the 5 of us are so close, and we have such a big range of ages..theres me, a 35 year old, 40 year old, 45 year old , and 75 year old! We went out earlier this wseek and had a blast so im looking forward to it

have a great day all!

Have a wonderful day and happy hour! :)

Yes. I just got an email from Disney Visa. They have added a few more designs for the cards. So I called and got myself the Where Dreams Come True one. The one I have is just the basic red.
I never get those emails.

:wizard: for Molly & you!!

Becky,
You look great in the pictures!

Elizabeth,
I am sorry to hear about your mom. You are smart to tell her not to wait. Sending you good thoughts.:wizard:

I think I fell asleep around 4 AM. It's going to be a long day. I need to tell Momboss what's going on, but I am not doing well saying it out loud. Her sister is coming to visit today so I think when I see her she will have her sister with her. I might e-mail her. Which is kind of weird but it might be the best way.

I read everything (you all were chatty today!) and am now caught up! Good to hear from Becky ad Robyn. And Theresa is on here when the rest of us are!

Time for bed now, as I am falling asleep at my computer. :) Good night, everyone!
It's good to be here.
PD to Molly. That could not have been fun for either of you.
Waiting at the clinic is just maddening. They were packed last night, and painfully slow!
I enjoyed the catch up reading. I have a few thing to do before bed.

Read ya again soon.
It is so nice to read you :goodvibes
Robyn - I hope Molly is feeling OK tomorrow! :wizard:

I can't sleep.
Thanks Elizabeth. I sure hope you got some sleep.'s
Robyn - I hope Molly doesn't have any painful potty issues today. :wizard: for no setbacks!

Good morning. :)
Thanks Tammi! Me too.

Sounds like a fun night!! My card playing buddies are all older than me. It's me, my cousin-50, my mom-57, a family friend-61, my aunt-62, a former coworker-63 and my aunt's friend-70.
Thank goodness Molly is ok! Hopefully it won't come back... and I'm glad you thought quickly to avoid any aversions to the potty, since you all have been working so hard!
Eric thought I was nuts for dragging her there last night, but I refuse to have her revert back to pullups!

:wizard: for Molly & you!!

Becky,
You look great in the pictures!
Thanks Anne Marie! How's Sophie this morning? And Becky you do look great!

More    's I am sure she will be very understanding so try not to worry about telling her.    's

I need to get off of here and finish getting the girls ready for school. I swear Eric did absolutely nothing last night after he put Emma and Lucy to bed- which was 5 minutes after I left. He sure had a lot of time to at least do something.

OK.
My mother just called. The surgeon she saw today is certain it is cancer. They did a biopsy, and they told her if it comes back negative they will do it again becasue they are convinced it is cancer. There is a 3 cm tumor.
She sees the oncologist next Wednesday. The surgeon she saw today said they will probably do a round of chemo first to try to shrink the tumor, then she will have a mastectomy.
I told her I will fly up for her surgery. She wants to put it off until school is out. I told her she will NOT put it off.
I don't know what else to say right now. I am so worried that she has let it go for too long.

Elizabeth -- I'm so sorry! I'd be scared, too, but you should try not to worry until you know more details. My mother had cancer in BOTH breasts -- one tumor was almost the size of a golf ball, and she beat it. My Aunt also had it, as well as a SIL and they are all doing well. Unfortunately, bc has become way too common. The advances in surgery/treatments have come so far! Many of the surgeries are day surgeries, and there are lots of different chemo options. Some nowdays are even pills -- not even intravenous. Do not let her wait, and make sure she puts you on all her HIPAA paperwork so you can stay informed.

We're all here for you anytime, and you know Lindsay and I are close and willing to help.

I've been working away at my projects. Colby's room now looks more like a storage unit as we have put a lot of the kitchen and living room furniture in there. Now I will only need to cover a few big pieces when I sand and paint. I also took down the curtains from the great room 5 sets and those are washed. I have already done our bedroom curtains and the ones from Hunter's room. Nick's are in a pile to be washed. All of Hunter's old bedding is washed put away. I have ordered new bedding so he will have to live with sheets and a blanket for now. I've also dug out the drywall cracks, making them larger to accept the durabond repairs.

I have a dust allergy and this is making me itchy and my hands are so dry they are cracking. I keep applying ointment to them which helps. Tonight I even have a bit of a sore throat, which is definitely dust related. removing curtains and moving furniture kicks up a lot of dust :sad2:

Deb -- I'm sure you are doing this, but are you wearing a mask? It does seem to help me some, but since I'm terribly allergic I also take extra meds when I'm in the middle of a big clean-up.

Good luck with the projects!

I think e-mail is a great idea. Just be truthful and tell her you're still adjusting to the news and that you want her to know but that it was hard to say outloud this morning and you want to talk to her about it when you see her next. (not sure if Momboss or Dadboss gets home first)

Lots of sports tonight, so I'd better get to working. The a/c won't be fixed until tomorrow or Monday, and it's supposed to be 85 today. Luckily, it's the a/c in my area and Merrie's, but Merrie is in Memphis today so I'll put a fan by my desk and possibly move to another area that has a/c if it gets unbearable.

I hope all the sick kids, including Sophie and Nicholas are better!

Have a good day everyone! :)

Oh No that could be bad timing for potty training. Hopefully she will realize that if the burning comes back it is just as bad with a pull up as when she is on the potty. Of course I pray that it doesn't come back :wizard:

Colby is doing very well too. He has only had one wet morning in the last 2 weeks  Maybe I won't have to drag pull ups to WDW this trip :cool1:

I was thinking that I'm in pretty good shape to work on the dry wall today, but that was last night. Now that I have a fresh eye on the situation I realized that I still have a lot of things to box up and get out of the rooms before I create more messes for myself. That is what I will work on this morning. I do have some dust masks and they help some, but not with the skin irritation. I had itchy dry skin :scared: At this point I just want to get it over with. Hopefully after tomorrow the dust issues will be cleaned up. Of course that means getting my butt in gear now :rotfl:

This is good to know, I was hoping it would last a few years at least.

we did some of that way back when...when my mom bought her house it lasted 17 years. We liked it better than some of the other stuff available...and a plus was it was easy to put down!!:thumbsup2

Sorry you had such a rough night. to you & Molly, hope she is feeling better today!

 I'm so sorry! Hope you can get some more answers quickly as I'm sure the unknown is killing you.

I think it is a little to much myself, The coach says his 1st priority is for the boys to have fun then 2cd is winning. I think it is the other way around ;)
Where does school fit in? 3rd/4th......

My goal for tomorrow is to finish and mail the camp application. It is about half done. I have a hard time promoting my own skills and achievements, so job applications/questionnaires are not easy.
Great photos! Good luck with the application.

Molly and I just spent 3 lovely hours at the "Moon Doctors"
Hope she's over it now! :wizard:

You could come here-it is in the 40's but rain/snow mix in the 30's tomorrow and 30's over the weekend.

Jen have fun tonight!

Paula, nice to see you posting!

Elizabeth I know momboss will understand. We are all here for you

Elizabeth -- I'm so sorry! I'd be scared, too, but you should try not to worry until you know more details. We're all here for you anytime, and you know Lindsay and I are close and willing to help.

I'm quoting this, because Marci said it so perfectly. Lots of  :wizard: and prayers coming your way, and hang in there. I know it has to be so terribly scary, but keep making plans like you are and make sure she gets the treatment pronto. (I am confident you can hound her into it. ;) )

Like Marci said, there have been so many advances with BC in the past few years, and they can do so much now. Don't lose hope! My MIL's best friend has just been diagnosed with cancer, but they're not sure what type it is as of yet - like she told my MIL, as crazy as it sounds, she's asking everyone to pray that it's breast cancer (where they found the lump originally, but they think it looks weird), since that would be the best one to fight.

Please, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!!!!!!! I am so sorry.

Anne Marie - glad to hear Sophie is feeling better today, and that MIL's dr.'s appt. went well! Sorry that she's a PITA, though. :sad2:

Robyn - hope Molly is doing better today!

Deb - good luck with all the projects. As I'm exhausted just reading about them, I'm sending you lots of energizing thoughts, and :wizard: for the dust/dryness issues.

Jen - Yay for the cruise! Have fun tonight! :yay:

Becky - good luck with the app. - I enjoyed the pics!

Janet - hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel for the 1st stages of your bathroom remodel!

Paula - good to read you!

Marci - hope you're continuing on the upswing! Stay cool today! :cool2:
