The first! :rotfl:

After being so tired when I posted last night at 9:30ish, I stayed up and watched a movie with Kyle (or, rather, fell asleep on and off while he watched a movie). I didn't really make it to bed until after midnight, and without a nap, that's LATE for me lately! :teeth:

I did get up by about 6:30, but lied in bed reading for about an hour. I love vacation! :cloud9:

:yay:

Mine are off this week as well.

Did you get snow yesterday? It snowed off & on all day here. Hopefully it will melt away today. At least the sun is shining!

I love my Owner's Locker!!!

Kids are off the entire week....todays fun includes a trip to the dentist for all 3! :scared1:

Jonathan left at 3 pm yesterday....most like likely we won't see him until May for a very brief time before his internship starts.

Hello, All!

I'm still sick, so here's :wizard: and  and  for everyone.
I have no energy for a proper reply.

I will say I do not have an astronaut costume. But I am curious why Kristine wants one in the middle of March! :rotfl2:

Elizabeth - is this an adult or child-sized costume? ;)

I wish you were feeling better today. :goodvibes

Elizabeth sorry to hear you are not feeling well, get better soon :wizard:

Here is the most recent incarnation of our dining plans for September/October. I have to make ADRs this coming weekend!

Dining032408.jpg

some of the dinner reservations are around the time of Wishes. I don't care if we are in the park or not, but would love to be able to see it either from our balcony or a nice restaurant!

Elin your dining plans look great, lot's of wonderful choices! Look forward to hearing what you thought of them.

Are you going to use all 16 snack credits in one day?

possibly... there are 2 of us and we will do that for lunch that day. If we want we can use them at any time during that week we are there, but we are not planning to go to the F&W Fest on Saturday or Sunday... all the locals will be there those 2 days!

Sounds like a good way to eat lunch, so many different choices!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter,

the azaleas are in bloom so I thought I would share a little Spring with my friends who haven't seen it yet, hang in there, it's on it's way,

So is it just me who gets irritated at just about every "family" function?

I just need to suck it up and let it go, but I think I have steam coming from my ears!

Tom - Leighanna looks adorable.

Jen - Sorry about your delima, I'm sure your Grandma understands.

Beautiful photo! It looks like you guys had some warm weather - it was kind of chilly and overcast in Dallas yesterday.

I hear you on the family stuff. I had an e-mail from one of my SIL's this morning detailing yesterday's drama with the other BIL/SIL in Houston. Needless to say, I'm not at all sad that we missed out on the family "fun."

im almost in tears here. i have the window open and there is this precious little kitty outside on the window sill crying for some food. its so skinny and i wanna feed it and take it to a cat rescue on wednesday but my parents are against it. so i hope she(i think its a she) comes back monday and tuesday and wednesday so i can take her. i dont wanna take her to the vet im afraid that they might put her down and also the spca. she is sooo friendly. i have named her elphy. lol i took a picture of her i will post when i receive it. sent it from my phone. i kinda see her as a comfort because she is silky black like shocker and has beautiful yellow green eyes.

Are there any "no kill" shelters that you can call about it?

We had a great visit with Kristin as well as a yummy meal, even if I say so myself! ;)

Her scene for her Acting for the Camera class that will be filmed tomorrow is learned and she opnly has the lats act of "Merchant of Venice" to finish tonight/tomorrow a.m. I believe she's got it! :goodvibes

When we got off I-95 on the way home, traffic was at a dead standstill just north of that exit. But am I glad we got off then! I pity those on I-95 from Fredericksburg northward! :(

Sounds great! :thumbsup2 Glad you didn't get stuck in that traffic. :scared1:

Thanks..i know its not a big deal, but its so important to her..she is thinking this will be the last possibility for us to go on a trip together. I am trying to convince them to push it to late june, but then its almost double the price.
Im okay with not going --shes just not!

Jen - I hope this all works out. I was wondering if you could get a sub, or if they could push the trip back just a bit. Good luck! :wizard:

I'm so sorry! I hope you manage to salvage the week. Sending PD for good weather and for your Uncle. Randy's oldes brother has had three open heart surgeries this past week and almost died. Luckily, he is doing much better and may even get out of ICU tomorrow. It's been a real rollercoaster, made worse because we couldn't go visit him and were relying on updates through the hospital and occasional updates from his wife. (She's super quiet and isn't a good communicator...very sweet, but a little strange...)

I'm not feeling worse, so that's a Blessing. I think I have a sinus infection, but the mouth ulcer is beginning to get better. I no longer talk funny. :rotfl:
I did e-mail Merrie to tell her I would be working from home tomorrow. That way, I can take more meds without having to worry about getting sleepy during the long commute, and since the boys will be home, I can have some more time with them. Sports died down because of Easter, but will gear up this week so it will be nice to spend time with them. I'll also get a lot of work done from home, as I won't be interrupted so often.

Sending PD and prayers to all of those sick or needing uplifted spirits! :)

Lots of :wizard: :wizard: for Randy's brother - how scary! I hope another day at home does you a world of good!

We had a wonderful albeit busy day. First the kids had to find their Easter baskets as the EB always hides them ;) Hunter had trouble finding his, but he did find it in the end. Then we got the kids dressed and Chris kept them busy while I hid the treasure chests and all the clues. They were so anxious to get moving.

I bet it took them 1 1/2 hours from start to finish. They've already requested another one next year :rotfl: The cell phones were a big hit and they can't wait for me to activate them. Unfortunately for them it won't be until our Disney trip.

You will see in the pictures that our house is torn apart since we are working from ceiling to floor in many areas.

What wonderful fun, Deb! You are so creative. :goodvibes I love hearing that Colby's key was in his pant's pocket! :rotfl:

I did notice the torn up floors - I feel for you guys during all of this. Good luck with the red paint today - I like the color!

My trip here as been great. I leave early in the morning, pick Becky up in Lansing and then head back to the U.P.

I was hoping to see Chanon but with the late arrival on Saturday that just isn't going to work out. Bummer!

My sister & I went shopping yesterday afternoon. Mom had wanted my sister to help me pick out a couple of outfits. I say no way at least 7 times. Somehow, my sister still ended up getting me to try on clothes and I ended up with $400 of clothes from Marshall's at my mother's expense! There's a long story behind it so I'll share after I get home.

Happy Easter DDA and have a great Monday.

Wow - sounds like a great trip! Drive safely!

Texans; but any of you can give your opinion. My neighbor has been asked to help cater an upscale pig roast/ steamship Round of beef event for a 175th anniversary celebration. The person coordinating is from Texas and says they have Black Tie Pig Roasts all the time.

My neighbor created a list of potential sides, which several people he talked to consider upscale. The guy coordinating did not think these things were what he was looking for. But he had no idea what he wanted. Do any of you have any experience with these events? What types of sides do they serve at a Black Tie Pig Roast? Thank you for your help!

My thought was like baked beans, corn on the cob, smashed potatoes, Texas toast, Mac and cheese, etc but I do not consider this stuff upscale. What are your thoughts?

We went to my Grandmas's their were 14 people there. Came home for a short period of time and went over to my neighbor's they always have a big Easter party. There were about 50 people, about half were kids. They have an egg hunt and the kids just play.

Becky - I have never once heard of a Black Tie Pig Roast (or any type of pig roast for that matter!). I would think that the menu items you list above are probably on par with what shoudl be served - maybe they just "dress" the ingredients/presentation up? Around here, I know a huge thing right now is "gourmet" mac & cheese, with like 6 different types of cheese, crumbles on top, etc. Good luck!

I love my Owner's Locker!!!

That is a great deal for the Owner's Locker! I wish I hadn't already signed up - although I am getting a free Brita water pitcher with mine!

Can't wait to hear the "astronaut" explanation! :thumbsup2

And Jennifer - loved the "belly" shots. You look FABULOUS.

Your plans look great!

At first I thought it might be "death by snack credits" with using all 16 in one day, but forgot that it would be split between the 2 of you! :thumbsup2

This has now effectively made me hungry! Unfortunately, there is not nearly anything as appealing around here for lunch.

Lots of fiber here... I like Benefiber the best too. I have been dealing with this for about 21 years, so I know what to do and what not to do. What to do seems easier than what NOT to do!

I assumed you did, but I continue to get off the wagon as far as fiber goes, and never cease to be amazed at what a difference it makes! You'd think I'd learn! Maybe in 21 years...

Off to be productive! We had this ambitious 3 page list of things to try and do.... we were very realistic about calling it a "wish list" of projects, instead of a to-do list.... but NOTHING has been accomplished. We went for our tour and pre-registration at the hospital today, and were going to go to the zoo but canceled that because it's so daggone cold! Hopefully our motivation lasts!

Have a great day, DDA! :goodvibes

I've never been to a Black Tie Pig Roast -- maybe it's a Hill Country or West Texas thing? The only thing I can think of would be -- Texas Caviar, which is an upscale blackeyed pea salad, or maybe jalapeno flavored beans? Twice baked potatoes? I really have no clue -- but I wish I could help. Maybe Elizabeth, Lindsay, Karen or Jennifer can help.

Elizabeth -- I sure wish you felt better. I still think it's worth a trip to the doctor. Are you running a fever?

Deb -- thanks for the pics. You did a fabulous job, as usual!

Good morning everyone! I made myself get a lot of work done before posting. It was nice to get up around 6:30 instead of 4:30.

I hope everyone has a good day today! :)

I don't have a costume. I just wanted to hear why Kristine needed one!

Elizabeth sorry to hear you are not feeling well, get better soon :wizard:

Thanks for the well wishes!

In all of my charity experiences I have never encountered a pig roast. :confused3 The really upscale things I have been to have served things like salad topped with goat cheese (GAG!), filet mignon, shrimp, and asparagus, and dessert of a chocolate thing - sort of a vertical tube of chocolate filled with cream and garnished with fresh berries. The menu changes yearly, but it still manages to stay VERY close to the things I mentioned.

I am not running a fever. My throat isn't sore at all anymore. Now it is all head congestion. My nose and my ears are all stopped up. I took Nyquil last night and it really did help, but I didn't have anything to take this morning.

The boneheads next door are POWER WASHING! :headache: I swear they must go to Lowe's every afternoon and look for some tool that will make an unprecedented amount of noise. They have been at it for the past 2 hours.

I put Princess down for an early nap because she was falling asleep in the car on the way to and from the post office. Also, the housekeeper is coming today and that produces disastrous results for napping. She must be really tired if she can sleep through the power washer.

::yes:: & I really enjoyed it! I definetly did not leave feeling hungry lol

I think my favorite was the quiche from France & The buffalo with onions(was this Oklahoma?) :thumbsup2 I know there was a lot more I would have liked to tried!

Isn't that what you and Chanon and I did in October 2007? ;)

Poor Terra! I went to St Louis for Christmas one year and really wanted to go to the Arch but my FIL was afraid of heights so we didn't go. I'm still disappointed! I'll have to come to St Louis so Terra can take me and I'll ready nice & early for her!!!!!!!!!!

She'd love to take you! Lesson learned too about just how we'd have to plan our days if I ever convinced everyone to go to Disney together. :thumbsup2
