the kid slept the whole time...I told then I had no clue what they were complaining about...I think they are so nervous...the baby senses it...and he wants a pacifier...and they refuse to give him one. I swear if I would have had one...I would have popped it in his mouth

There is nothing wrong with a NEWBORN having a pacifier! I hope they enjoy the sleep deprivation because it sounds like they are setting themselves up for a lot of it!

Thankfully Jonathan made it home safely last night....he looks good. College has really agreed with that kid. He has informed us that he will not be home this summer..:sad1: he has accepted an internship...he will be doing research in a nuclear particle lab. Honestly, I didn't even understand what he was talking about...apparently this includes a trip to Switzerland. So he's pumped up to say the least. He will be graduating next year...1 year early....then off to grad school. This used to be the worlds laziest kid...and now he's an academic powerhouse...so there is hope for my Christopher! :rotfl2:

That's wonderful! How exciting for him! I think college is good because the kids can choose what time to have what classes, what order to take things in, etc. They have much more control over their schedule and to some extent they can tailor it to their interests. Middle school is run like a prison - go here, go there, learn this, eat now!

Tammi - I can't remember if I have ever shopped at Belk. :confused3 We had Burdine's in FL which I really liked. We used to have Lord & Taylor here but they all closed. When I first moved to TX we had Bloomingdale's, but that has been gone for a long time. We still have something in the Galleria - Marshall Fields or Saks? Can't remember which. :confused3 We had both, then one went out of business. And we have Nieman Marcus where I NEVER shop. The employees are just so :snooty: , which I find hilarious since they work RETAIL! Retail is my fall-back in case there ever comes a time when I can't find a suitable nanny position. Working as a sales associate in a department store doesn't make one special, but none of them seem to have gotten that memo. :rolleyes1 And for the ones who are on commission it would be in their best interest to be NICE. But whatever. I will stick to Nordstrom.
The mall across the street has Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstorm, and Neiman's. The dead mall has Disney, Sears, Dillard's and JC Penney - their Macy's closed.

Congratulations to Jonathan! He will love Switzerland, it is so beautiful there.

This gives me hope for Garrett lol

I hope the day clears up for you! I just let Lacey back in & took out the trash, it's pretty nice out there.

cloudy here Janet....usually I can see the skyline from here...and I see nothing. Must be foggy in the loop.

Poor Bill :rotfl:
Janet...he has a fear of shallow water!! :lmao:We went to a water park :lmao: around here...and I made him go on the lazy river and he was getting all jacked up...finally I told him to put his feet down...it was 3 feet deep!!!!

:rotfl2:That's so funny. This kid has gotten so many tickets..he is one away from losing his license. I had to hire a lawyer last time...$700 later. Damn kid. How can you be so smart...yet so dumb?!

One of my friends worked for a family from Japan. The dad is a world famous bio-genetic researcher. He is so, so, so smart that he is literally befuddled by normal tasks. He just can not dumb down his thinking to a level that allows him to function like a regular guy. He is another one who just drives like a goofball, gets tons of tickets (in school zones! :scared1: ), leaves the house for an international flight 30 minutes before the plane takes off, that sort of thing.

Looks like there is a auction going on today, maybe I should go see what I don't need lol

at least he drives... Kristin can drive but hates to. She does not have a license and has no great desire to get one. I took her out driving this week and she sang nonsense songs to herself the whole time. The lyrics were about how much she hated to be in complete control of a huge piece of metal with an engine. :rotfl:

Katrina didn't get her license until she was 17. She just wasn't interested in driving but it is a necessity where we live if you want to go anywhere. I was not hauling her around with her friends and stuff anymore. I told her just school related stuff.

Kristin is 21! And I don't haul her around either. I will take her shopping but she has to make all other arrangements for anything she wants to do when she is home on breaks. When she is at school it is not so much an issue since most things are within walking distance or she has the city bus system if absolutely necessary.

She understands the need to drive, and would do so in an emergency. But absolutely HATES it. I hope she lives in a city the rest of her life. ;)

all of my kids had a pacifier...so from my view..it seems totally appropriate.

middle school sure is interesting, huh? Jackie has a couple of teachers that are WAY out there. As a matter of fact...I was tempted to say something...but then she is almost a straight a student...so I didn't feel like I should...if that makes sense.

I'm off to Lansing today. This is going to be a crazy week again. I drive to Lansing today. Luckily, one of my staff is coming down with me. There will be two of them down there but only one is riding with me (they wanted to have another car down there). We come back sometime on Thursday.

Very early Friday morning, Becky & I will be heading back downstate. Becky's boyfriend is going to pick her up in Lansing. They are heading to his house for the week-end. I'll then be heading to my sisters in Ohio. I'll be there until very early on Monday morning when I drive back to pick up Becky and get her home by 7pm Monday night for her class.

I'm looking forward to spending time with my sister, niece & nephew. Mom will be there as well. The kids and my sister are really excited as well. It makes me feel guilty that I haven't been there sooner. It's been 3 or 4 years since I've been down there.

Their father is like that...so I am sure that's where he gets it from

The trees outside our dining room window are FULL of birds. Now and then a bird lands on the windowsill. The cats are both sitting in the window just waiting. The window is closed, but they don't care. At one point Aurora decided the birds must be able to see her, so she jumped down to the floor to wait. Now she is back in the window.

As usual, it sounds like a jam-packed week for you, Vicki! I am so delighted to hear you have some fun planned for next weekend with your sister.

I have gone so above and beyond with this man...including him etc etc etc. (For God's sake, he wants to go on vacation with us!) So I will tell him if he wants to continue in this progressive relationship...he needs to MAN UP & SHUT UP...or he can go to being an every other weekend kind of dad.

So you are like me.....plotting your revenge. :rotfl:

Well I need to get myself ready. I'm off to church and then grocery shopping. I know this day will go by quickly so I best get busy.

Have a great day.

I think there are some people who truly don't want to drive....It may be better than those who want to drive...buy are truly bad at it.

Vicki have a safe trip & enjoy your time with family next week!

DS had a pacifier, and so did a few of my charges. Why don't they want the baby to have one?

DS has pretty good teachers this year. The science teacher is disorganized, which is bad because DS is disorganized, too. He already has a zero for one assignment that he says he turned in. I have e-mailed her about it.
The rest of them seem OK. His language arts teacher is GREAT, but I think she has been teaching for a long time. Same for the math teacher. His social studies teacher is young, but she is doing a good job.

I knew you weren't driving her around. I figured you had a better transportation system then we have here. We live 7 miles out of town in the country and her friends got tired of coming out here to get her.
