DDA Chapter 5

We are on our way to Akershus for an early breakfast. The bad weather missed us. It poured while we were on the bus last night to Magic Kingdom to catch the monorail to the Grand Floridian. By the time we reached MK, the rain had stopped and the rest of the night was gorgeous.

If you could spare some pixie dust for my dad, he could use it. He wasn't going to work tonight unless they needed him, which then did in the end. He called around 9:30 to day that he was in a ditch. As of 10:45 a tow truck was on the way and he may have a delivery or two to finish. Luckily, his company volunteered to foot the towing bill. It's not something that they normally would do, but I think that they felt it would be some good will since he's one of the only drivers out there. He thinks that the can is fully driveable, but won't know for sure until they wench him back up the hill. Hopefully there is no front end damage. This is the van he bought just 2 weeks ago and has only been driving for work for 4 days now. Sooo not what he needed today.

I was hoping to hear from Vicki by now. I am so in need of a live trip report. Doesn't she know that I am living vicariously through her :rotfl2:

I know, I know! I'll work on it today. However, I got online this morning to make sure I posted this just for you! Becky had the perfect tank that fit perfectly underneath. The shirt was just a little big on her and would gape (is that a word?) at the front. Plus, she is not one to wear low cut shirts anyway. This worked perfectly.

Great picture! Your girls are beautiful (they look like mom!) & the shirts came out great.:thumbsup2

Yeah!!!!!! The tickers are back!!! I love to see how many "days" left!!!
:cool1: :surfweb: :cheer2: :dance3: :cool2:

Good morning, DDA!!!

Vicki - Beautiful picture of the girls.

Well, Dad called back around 12:30 to say that he was finally out of the ditch. It took the tow guy almost an hour to wrench him up the hill. I guess he was pretty far down. There doesn't seem to be any damage so that was very good. It drives and looks the same as before his adventure. I don't know what time he finally made it home, but hopefully it wasn't too late and he didn't torture mom with the frozen feet he mentioned having.

Thats good news!

I'm finally here on Chapter 5! I just finished catching up on Chapter 4, and don't have time to start here tonight. Hopefully I'll catch up to y'all tomorrow. I have got to remember to check in on the weekends! Otherwise, I spend most of the week playing catch up! Although, in my defense, I've had sick kids since Saturday night, and no relief in sight! Can I just say I HATE THE FLU?!!!!

Talk to you in the morning!

Oh no, I hope today finds everyone a little less sick. :wizard:

Well we ended up with somewhere between 10-12 inches. I went out to shovel thinking it would be about 6-7, but found a lot more! It took about 1 hour and 45 min between my shovelling and Phil's to find the driveway again. Terra was helping too. ;) Mainly though she just flopped her way through the snow and tried, usually unsuccessfully, to stay on her feet. I'll try to upload some pictures tomorrow.

:wizard: :wizard: for your dad. 10-12 inches  I hope you aren't too sore this morning.

Thanks for all the anecdotes to support the fact that accidents happen. :grouphug:

Glynis, I hope your household is germ-free soon!

Vicki, I can't wait to hear more trip details!

Robyn, I'm sending you strength for tomorrow. Yay Molly!

Deb, great shirts!

Debbie, love your most recent design!

Anne Marie, your pin frame turned out super!

Jen, a massage reward sounds like great motivation.

Theresa, I'd share some sanity, if I could (though I'm scaping the barrel this week. ;) )

Bernadette, please clean out your PM box. :)

Elizabeth, I hope Princess is feeling better tomorrow.

Tia, I hope your dad's vehicle is all right. Pixie dust for him and you, because you are going to be sore from all that shoveling! Our weatherman said we should be grateful that we were above freezing today, since it would have resulted in 2 feet of snow instead of the steady downpour we had all day.

Be gone snow and tornadoes!!!

Good night to all! I hope Wednesday is a great day for the DDA!

Thanks Amy!

The shirts look great on the girls. I'm glad you are all having a great time.

Good Morning!

No school today. Lots of ice yesterday afternoon and evening, with a coating of snow on top of that.
I see tree limbs down and power lines sagging! I know the cable that supplies our internet and t.v. is laying on the ground. I guess I will need to call the cable company later.

Robyn, good thoughts for you and your family today.

Mo, you can do it!

Vicki, great photo. The shirts turned out great!

Have a great day all!

Those came out so good, Deb!

Deb -- the shirts are great! I especially love the one with just the swirl!

Great job Anne Marie! Maybe I should do something like this. Not sure where I would hang it though, hmmmm.

Anne Marie -- the pins look terrific!

Beth - I hope you feel better! Princess actually stopped coughing for the most part after I got her up from her non-nap. Which is good, because her Dr. never called back! I wish she went to my Dr.'s office. The female pedi there is awesome and they CALL BACK if you leave a message for the nurse!

I hope Princess is better today.

So the last few days have just been a blur. Joe left yesterday morning. Then it was soccer and Dr. Seuss night at Emma's school. That was a lot of fun. The PTA set up 6 or 7 different workshops and the kids/parents rotated between each of them. My mom came up with my niece and took the girls around. I volunteered and we made edible Cat in the Hat hats- ritz cracker, red life savers and white frosting. Very cute!!

Today has been :upsidedow Not bad just not normal. Molly has used the potty all day. :yay: (I refuse to get too excited, but it's progress).

Emma and I went to the funeral home for my aunt's viewing. What saddened me most is seeing my uncle. He is just lost. He told me that she was his rock and his heart. :sad1: It's sad that 75+ years together was not enough for him. Their love is the kind you don't see everyday. Tomorrow I feel is going to be gut wrenching.

I am off for a bit to get into my pj's and get dinner. I'll check back in.

I'm so sorry for your Uncle. Sending PD to him and to you and your family. I hope Mo continues to make progress today.

I'm finally here on Chapter 5! I just finished catching up on Chapter 4, and don't have time to start here tonight. Hopefully I'll catch up to y'all tomorrow. Talk to you in the morning!

I hope the kids are feeling better. Did you know you can use Tamiful as a preventative measure when one of your family comes down with the flu? It helped Randy from getting it when we had it last year. Of course, the pharmacist didn't tell me that until three of us had it.

PD sent. I hope the rest of his route was problem free!

Has anyone heard from Kristine lately? Hope she is doing ok.

Kristine and I PM each other sometimes. She is doing OK.

Yeah, i was kind of disappointed that I didnt like it better--but i figured that doesnt mean i cant still work out..Im so frustrated with my weight that i know i can keep it up--and save money!

I also decided that if i am still doing my working out in 3 months (the length of time the kickboxing class was for)--im treating myself to a massage as a "reward"

Sounds like a plan! I keep trying to think of a way I can fit in some exercise but I haven't come up with anything.

Robyn-I am so sorry for your Uncle...what a love...I can't imagine that kind of love and devotion.

Jim can't go back to work until next Monday....and he's driving me BONKERS!!

Theresa, I hope he gets better and goes back to work sooner than expected!:wizard:

Yikes! I am glad he made it home safely! I would NOT like to have nearly a foot of snow!:scared:

Yay for dodging the weather!

I agree! :goodvibes

Bernadette - I am glad Joe's vision is good! The eye Dr. told me that the tests at the school are pretty inaccurate overall, but they do catch some things that need additional testing. Like DS. ;) Oh, and look out for falling moons because he DOES want to wear his glasses to school today!

Off to the shower! Have a great day, DDA!

Tia you really got hit with the snow! Glad to hear all is well with your dad.

Glynis :wizard: that everyone is feeling better.

Vicki your daughters look beautiful & the shirts look great! Deb I want one lol

Lindsay -- I worried about you yesterday. It seemed the further North the worse the roads were. I hope your fur baby is doing better.

Vicki -- great pictures! I'm glad you are having a great trip!

Our weather here is still crazy. We woke up to snow/ice in some areas of DFW yesterday, then it warmed up to high 50s with sun, then by tomorrow during the day, temps will drop and we could have more wintery mix. We didn't get any snow, so I'm hoping to see some big fat flakes.

The shirts look terrific on them. I still think that the pattern should be labeled Junior. :thumbsup2

We got a call at 5:30 AM saying that school was delayed 2 hours. Another call at 7:30 AM that it was cancelled. It has been raining since yesterday and the back roads must be pretty slick. The boys are happy to be home, but that makes 2 days that they need to make up. Hopefully they won't have many more snow days as it is quickly encroching on our vacation. We had a week between school ending and vacation, now there is only 3 days

Yikes! I am glad he made it home safely! I would NOT like to have nearly a foot of snow!:scared:

It makes me very thankful for the guy who used to live in the apt next to us in Salem. There were 4 apts and we had a front walk, 4 spaces of parking on the side and a sidewalk there. Every snow storm that 100+" winter, he was out there shovelling before anyone else got out there. He took care of all 4 spaces and the sidewalks, plus would make me a path from our backdoor since he knew that's how I usually came and went.

I did feel really bad one time during the blizzard as he worked all morning to clear the side parking. He had been inside no more than 15 minutes when the plows came through piling at least 3" of snow blocking the parking again. Thankfully, one of the guys upstairs saw it happen and went out there with his shovel before the original guy ever knew it happened.

Lucky for me, I'm not very sore at all this morning. I wasn't sure how I'd be doing. I only did half the drive as Phil did half too, but it was 2-3x as much snow as usual. We really need to get an actual snow shovel though. This using a grain shovel thing is going to kill me yet. First, it's short so you have to bend over more. Plus, it's not all that light on it's own, so add snow to it and it gets heavy. Then there's the fact that it's metal so the snow freezes to it. :sad2: Why didn't anyone listen to me when I suggest a shovel for Dad for Christmas. ;)

That is cutting it close! :wizard: for no more snow days. Not to jinx us, but I think we have only used 1 snow day. So hopefully school we be out this year as scheduled.

Well, I made good use of being snowed in yesterday. I finally got to my "to be sorted" folder of pictures I had uploaded. Got those and everything else reorganized into folders; pulled pictures from the computer crash over and organized them; reloaded all of the old Terra pictures from CDs onto the computer and organized them; and searched out all of the photos across Mom and Dad's computer organizing them. I want to try to recover a few things from Phil's crashed computer today and them I am fully updatesd on photos, having them all organized and ready to back up.

The next step will be to back them up to our external drive again to make sure that everything is covered, then I'll burn them to DVDs. Amazingly enough, I think that all of it will fit on 5 DVDs, if I am calculating correctly. That plus slim jewel cases will be much more space friendly in the firebox than the 15 CDs in regular jewel cases. Best of all, I'll have one more step of protection against losing them all.

Of course, once that is done I have BOXES of pictures to scan and save. :scared: Oh the price of caring about preserving the family history. LOL! If I didn't take them, I don't know where all of Meme's pictures would have ended up. I'm highly contemplating taking a laptop and scanner to Granny's with us next time so that I can start plowing through her piles of pictures too.

Well, I've got pancakes to make so I guess I had better go. Wish I had remembered that promise before I had cereal for breakfast, but oh well. The kids are back in school today so maybe I'll get something else productive done today as well.
