DDA Chapter 4

Marci & Lindsay - Do either of you guys have a subscription to DSM? I REALLY, REALLY want to take DS to "Cats" but only subscribers can get tickets. I'm afraid by the time they open up tickets to the public the good seats will be gone.

I managed to get DS to try on his new clothes. Those 12/14 shirts are HUGE! The 8/10 looked so small when I held it up, but it is a little bit big on him. Who knew children came in travel size? :confused3 So I am going to return the huge shirts and see if I can find the Nike ones in the smaller size.

We switched DS's backpack from the one he has always used to one of the "Disney" backpacks. I don't know that there is much difference, really. The new one does have a little slot inside for a cell phone, though. Strange thing is that when he started pulling stuff out of the old backpack he had a huge pack of colored pencils AND a pack of sketching pencils. I thought that stuff got stolen out of the locker? So now he isn't really clear on what was stolen from the locker. I am quite certain I will be ignoring the supply lists that come home next year. I will buy the basics and keep them on hand here at home, but there is NO WAY I am sending bags of supplies to school just so they can disappear.

Love this one Heidi!!! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday Leighanna

Hope we can see you and your daddy and maybe mommy if we get a meet for Philadelphia.

Well - I decided I was going to try and keep up with this board, but it just did not happen. I tried and tried and when I came on this morning I was 20 pages behind. So I skipped here and there.
THere are so many things I wanted to say to different people and so many cyber hugs I wanted to send, but I kept loosing the names. I wish I knew how to respond to many people like I see others do.
Anyway, I see people are talking about a Philly meet. Please keep me in mind if you do. I would love to meet other Philly people.
Take care everyone one & Mrs. Heg (the mousekeeping envelope lady), good luck with your operation.

I didn't even think of that! There has to be SOME way established, right?!

You had a late night! I definitely crashed about 20 minutes after I got home! Thanks again for dining with me! :goodvibes

Me too! :lovestruc

Have a great time at your party!

I'm glad the surgery is finally coming! I'm sure someone told you this (I hope!) but please, when you're hypoglycemic, follow up your fast-acting carb/sugar with some protein and/or a long-acting carbohydrate. If you don't, you'll just end up crashing lower than your initial reading which could be dangerous! Have you purchased the glucose tablets that are available? Orange are my favorite, and they work REALLY well (it's essentially 15g of pure glucose). They'll be all you need to bring it back up quickly. Other really great options that work most efficiently are juice and/or hard candy... but then make sure to have cheese, or half a peanut butter sandwich (or PB crackers) or something once you get back in range!

It sounds like you are really making wonderful, healthy changes... I hope that things settle down and continue to get ironed out for you! :wizard:

Thanks for the advice, I do have glucose tablets in my purse, you think I would have rememberd them, but I kind of freaked and all I could think of was the last little Dr. Pepper in the fridge that I kept, just in case. I didn't know about the carbs afterwards, I'll have to keep that in mind. Glad to hear that you finally got some sleep.

Hi Penny, I'm a regular here and I have a hard time keeping up, a lot of times I think I have and then I realize that I've missed some posts. Join in whenever, whereever, this is a great group of people here. Thanks for the well wishes on the surgery, it is actually my son-in-law. I had to smile at being called the mousekeeping envelope lady!

I hope you don't have to deal with low blood sugar all that often, but if you do at least the extra protein, etc snacks will keep you where you need to be! I don't know that I'll ever know what high blood glucose feels like, but I'm all too familiar with hypoglycemia -- it can be downright scary sometimes, especially if you're dropping quite low compared to your norm! :goodvibes

well I am going to try real, real hard. :goodvibes
Penny

Do whatever you can, and that will be perfect! :)

If you were referring to the multi-quote posts you see (like Mrs. Heg just did, where she responded to two of us), it's a fairly new function on the DIS (maybe 6-8 months? I really don't remember when it showed up). At the bottom right hand corner of each new post, there is the "quote" button, and then a little square button next to it with a plus sign and something else. If you click that one, it will turn red, but you'll stay on the page you're reading. You can do that to as many posts as you want as you're reading along, it will remember what you've selected. Then, when you hit reply, they'll all show up in one nice box for you to reply to.

If you weren't referring to that, ignore my rambling! ;) Hope that helps... but it's great to see you regardless of how "caught up" you are! :goodvibes

Vicki - did you see this?

Extra Magic Hour Test
Extra Magic Hours are available to Disney Resort guests at select theme parks on select days. When resort guests enter the park for evening Extra Magic Hours, they go to a designated location for a wrist band. This easily identifies them as a resort guest to Cast Members.

One of the difficulties, especially for the evening Extra Magic Hour, has been clearing the park of non-resort guests. Walt Disney World will test a new procedure from February 24 - 29, 2008. Each Disney Resort Guest will need to carry (and show) their valid Disney Resort Key to the World Card for access to the theme parks for evening Extra Magic Hours. Wristbands will not be issued. Be sure to have your Resort ID available as you enter any attractions.

I think this is a horrible idea. At least the wristbands are visible. A KTTW card in someone's pocket isn't.

That sounds a little odd? I thought that they didn't care if guests were still in the park during EMHs? I mean, if they're just shopping, etc what does it matter. Wouldn't you need to pull our your KTTK Card at every ride under this process? Sounds like kind of a pain.

Sorry to be MIA so much lately, life is at a fast pace as usual. The long awaited surgery will finally be Monday, although it was a stressful ride, they will definitely be much better off going this route than they would have been trying to make payments.

I had my first "low blood glucose" experience Thursday, a little over an hour after I took my meds I got extremely lightheaded, so much so I thought I was going to pass out, I took a reading and my level was 44, :scared1: , so I had my first sugared soft drink in over a month and that brought it up to 58 after an hour, I napped, or passed out in between the readings, after the second reading I had some chocolate candy and got it up to 80. I will be taking the meds with dinner from now on, that isn't an experience I care to have again.

I'm glad that the surgery is scheduled soon. Prayers and :wizard: that all goes well and it does the job for him.

How scary for your low sugars. I'm glad that they came back up, but I'm sure it was a rough day. Take care of yourself, though I know you are!

It seems everyone had gotten into their busy Saturday. We're still pretty quiet here for now. Heading to Kristi's around 5, but not much else before then. It's observation day at dance today though so I'd better go ask Terra if she wants to go watch Rachel.

Have a good one, everybody!

Did someone say DDA Philly meet!!! If its not the last 2 weeks of August then I am there!!!

Deb,
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for you! Good to "see" you!
