DDA Chapter 4

Bernadette, just off-hand, I think your snack credit estimate is likely a bit low. Also, are you talking $10 for each of you for CS meals ($20 total per meal), or would you be sharing, so the $10 is total? If it's the latter, that might be a bit low too, in some circumstances.

Good luck with the number-crunching! It begins to make my head hurt after a while. I'm glad I can't do it currently, since I'm staying at the Swan. ;)

Well don't tell any of the DDP police but I figured we would be doing just 1 TS meal a day so that would be 2 CS meals a day were I would use 1 credit for each meal and pay oop for anything else we would need. I still think my $10 estimate is a bit too low.

I can't decide if this would make things easier or if it would just make things too complicated. I'm leaning toward the more complicated.

Oh forgot to say....it is making my eye hurt. I wonder if its changing colors too.:lmao:

I think its time to take my drugs and head to bed. My ear hurts too. I think I'll finish out this course of antibiotics and see how it goes. My stomach definately doesn't like them.

Lindsay, we just made our room requests with Special Needs. Asked for Courtyard View (on Crescent Lake side) 2nd floor with full balcony. Hopefully, we'll get it! Did you have 2 Queen beds? It looks like it would be a quiet room and a good location for us. Thanks again to you and Elin!

Were you able to get a wheelchair for Rees? I know that you were in the process, but never heard anything more.

Well, I'm going to head out again for a bit. I had the day off for the holiday, and went and had my first massage at my V-Day present spa. It was awesome!!! I am so glad I have a whole year to enjoy that place - I told Jonathan he can make that my V-Day gift for the rest of eternity if he'd like! Even better, they were telling me that they want to build a 2nd location closer to where I live, which would be great.

To continue with the pampering theme, I'm going to go try out a new nail salon - I need a manicure/pedicure, and figured why not just make it all about me today! ;)

Catch you guys later!

That sounds like a heavenly day :cloud9:

We had bouncy seats for the twins, and they were ok. Not fabulous! Leslie hated hers!!! Seriously, she would scream every time we put her in it. It's all trial and error, though. You never know what's going to work until you try it.

Good luck with the formula! I wanted to breastfeed, but never produced enough milk for twins. So, we supplemented from the first. It was nice, because it got Alan involved as well.

Bouncy seats didn't come along until my last was born. We used it some. My boys were all swingers, they loved the swing. The johnny jump up was also popular, but their are new contraptions out for that. We could not have lived without the exersaucer for all 5 kids. I had at least 2 in the house at all times in varying rooms.

I like your choices for the nursery :thumbsup2

I'm in need of some advice. Long story short, I found out that Nicholas had taken a $50 bill out of Alyssa's money and put it into his. I confronted him, he readily admitted to it, and when I asked why he said he wanted to get enough money to get a Wii. I had the whole stealing talk with him, how I'm not proud of him for this, if he were older he would go to jail for it, and that I've lost trust in him. I have no clue how to punish for this. Taking away video games for a week or two just doesn't seem to do it justice. I considered having him pay a "fine" to Alyssa, since she is the one he stole from, but I'm not sure about that either. Anyone have any suggestions or have had this problem with your kids?

I haven't had this problem, but if it were my house the Wii would no longer be an option. Alyssa's money would be returned and the rest of his money would be deposited into the bank with a clear understanding the he can't be trusted to monitor his own money until he was regained your trust. I know that I tend to be harsh with punishments, but I expect my children to know right from wrong and to make the right decisions. Sometimes it is tough to follow through, but I know in the end it is for the best. That being said good luck with whatever you choose.

So....i have to tell you guys something that I havent told anyone...After chatting with some of you guys---and some of my friends---i have finally been convinced to sign up for an online dating site...
Then, as i was thinking about it, there was a post on the community board talking about some free ones..so i signed up and figured what the heck...i just signed up this morning, but have talked to one guy on instant messager.

So that was a big step for me..now we just see what happens...but i had to tell SOMEONE!

Sounds like a good step. You do need to open options, just be very careful.

Were you able to get a wheelchair for Rees? I know that you were in the process, but never heard anything more.
Funny you asked. He had PT today, and the therapist has finally gotten the wheelchair rep to come either next Thursday or the following one. We have a rental right now, and it's bulky/too big for him/and like an adult chair. Which kind did you get for your boys? We're also debating getting a Special Needs stroller vs the wheelchair (like a Macleran Major). I need to ask opinions on the DISability board too.

Your secret is safe with me. ;)

That's one of the things about DDP - sometimes it just feels like too much work to me (particularly now, when you still have to have $$ for tips). It would be one thing if you couldn't get the DDE and this was the only discount available to you. I found the one time we did it, I fretted too much about the where/when of using all our credits. I just like to eat when I'm hungry, and don't when I'm not!

Oh forgot to say....it is making my eye hurt. I wonder if its changing colors too.:lmao:

I hope you get to feeling better soon! We don't want your eyes to change colors! ;)

Tammi,
Well I like the fact that he didn't try to cover it up. I give him credit for that. When my kids have done something wrong & when confronted with it & not lied to me, I have been more lenient.

If it were one of my kids, I would have him return it to his sister with an apology. Also I would ground him for at least a week or 2, no priviledges (tv, video games, playdates). I am also harsh with punishment so take it for whats its worth.

Just remember he's young & probably didn't think about what he was doing. At that age sometimes all they can see is the end (his Wii) & not the process to get there. Being a parent can sometime suck eggs eh? (but youre not alone!!!!):grouphug:

That is one of my many reasons for not wanting to breastfeed. I acknowledge the benefit to breastmilk so will try and pump for the babies' benefit. I am not interested, however, for personal reasons in actually breastfeeding (even with one). I do remember though, how important it was for my dad and I to feed my sister... so I am adamant about sharing that joy (seriously, joy! Ok, and night feeds are a bonus too, for whoever wants to help ;)) with Kyle and my family.

You are thinking quite clearly, Jennifer!!! It is wonderful (especially with twins) to have help with the feeding. I breast fed as much as possible, but there were times when that was ALL I got accomplished all day long. By the time night came around, I really needed some sleep. And Alan needed to feel needed, too.

I was also lucky that my girls showed that they could sleep through the night at 3 months. Up until that point, I had them co-sleeping in a playpen in my room. When they first slept through the night, then into their own cribs they went. For a while we let them sleep together in one crib, but as they got bigger, it seemed to annoy Mary, so we separated them. Now that I look back on it, I can see that Leslie has always been dependent on Mary. Still is. That's why they are in the same kindergarten class.

Oh, you are going to have so much fun as you get to know these twins!

Wish I could help you, but we haven't had this particular problem, yet. My SIL did have something like this happen. Her daughter stole 10 dollars from an older sister to buy a purse that she wanted. When her parents found out about it, she had to give the purse to her older sister, plus repay the 10 dollars. She was given extra chores to help pay it off. I also think that she wasn't allowed outside the house without an "escort" for a good long while.

This could be a very good thing for you! We all know there are some good success stories! Just be careful, and listen to your instincts!

Good for you, Jen! I was really nervous about it at first, and as long as we were emailing or IMing it was fine. When I had to make or take that first phone call I was petrified. The thing that attracted me to Bob right off the bat was how easy he was to talk to on that first phone call. We hit it off from the start! Good luck to you! But just be careful. Always let someone you know know where you are going, when you are going and when you will be home. Meet in a public place, and NEVER get into a car with him until you know him well. Also give a friend the name and phone number of the guy you are meeting, just in case.

Good advice! Take it from Tammi! She knows what she's talking about.

Now that I'm caught up it looks like everyone else has vanished. Alan stayed home from work with a monster cold! Runny nose, scratchy throat, sneezing, coughing, you name it! He felt it coming on a couple of days ago, so I moved to the couch to avoid getting hit with it. Well, it didn't do much good apparently. My throat is starting to feel scratchy. I've started Zicam, and will take some cold medicine and head to bed. Still going to sleep on the couch, though, since I'm hopeful I can avoid the worst of the cold that way. Of course, my neck will be in need of one of Lindsay's massage pretty quickly. Ouch!!!

Night all!

Hi Becky, good to see you stop in!

Jennifer the babies room is going to look wonderful!

Jen I will echo everyone else. I am happy for you, just be careful :goodvibes

Glynis hope you & Alan are better soon :wizard:

Lindsay a massage would be so nice right now, glad you enjoyed your pampering day!

Tammi

Glynis-I am sorry you caught the cold. Hope it passes quickly!!:wizard:

:scared1: Not you guys too??? Hope you can get over it fast!:wizard: :wizard:

Glynis - I hope that you and Alan are feeling better.

Tammi - I don't have much to add, but I think that the advice given so far has been good.

Jen - Good luck with the site. Just follow your instinct and I'm sure it will go wonderfully.

Bernadette - Good luck with your DDP decision. I'd be interested to know what you decide as Terra and I would probably operate pretty similarly to you guys.

I know that I missed some, but my brain is getting tired. I had to get my exercise in so we're a little late to bed tonight. However, it is apparently snuggling time so I've got to run. Good night!

Bernadette and Glynis - hope you both get to feeling better very soon!

Girl you give me a headache. ;)

So. If the AP rate is $50 per night off a Deluxe room like it was earlier this year we would be saving an extra $15 per night on the room over the AAA discount. Then we could add DxDDP for $70 per person which adds $210 per night. Subtract the $15 and it gives us an increase of $195 per night over where we are now. DxDDP would save us 6.5% tax, but cost us 18% - 20% in additional gratuities, probably $45 per day if we did buffet breakfast and signature dinner because DS would be ordering from the adult menu. Hmm. It would also mean re-doing my ADRs for those days to make sure we got the signature dinners in there. Hmm. Definitely hmm.:rolleyes1
