DDA Chapter 4

I'm off to sleep now! I am all caught up on the thread. I don't think I'll get on in the morning and it is a 8 hour drive home. I am going to sleep in and take a leisurely drive home. I'll stop at my mom's on the way if she is home. Talk to you all tomorrow night!

Why am I so eaten up over this? I keep thinking I made a mistake, or that I'm overreacting, or just being a ITCH... I don't want to have made a mistake, but I feel like I did, even though I have to trust my instincts. Sometimes being a parent sucks.

I know that it's hard, but I think most will agree that you made the best decision for your family. Ig the situation changes, you can always adjust the decision. My prayers that BK comes to understand and that things improve quickly. :grouphug:

And I need prayers for John. He has lost the sense of taste for the past month. Went to the doctor today and they are running all kinds of tests for some pretty serious stuff including MS, some weird brain tumors, cancer, and syndromes. He's very depressed and just went to bed. He's not eating. Between that and today, I'm now in tears and a basket case. He's my rock, the one we depend on. What if it is something bad?

ETA: Well, they ruled out all the little stuff today. He's not sick, no ear or sinus probs, sense of smell is completely normal. His tongue "feels weird" and his taste is gone, so they are pretty sure it's neurological. Now to find out which lovely reason. They call with bloodwork Monday and then will schedule an MRI or CT. We're both really scared.

First of all :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: . Second, loads of prayers and :wizard: that the doctor's can find the source of John's loss and that it isn't serious. Lean on us all that you need to. We're here for you.

Well, I'm finally caught up inbetween the final prep work for Terra's party. I've got one decoration that I'd like to make if I have the time. Otherwise, we're mostly set. The Disney Store had the perfect shirt for her to wear so I didn't have to design that, but I have made the picture for the plates, goody bags, crayon labels and playdoh labels. I need to get the cake baked here in a minute so that I can decorate it tomorrow. I've also got a little clean-up today. I was wonderfully on schedule until several things this afternoon/evening threw that off. Oh well, I shouldn't be too far behind (knock on wood).

I did however get catfish at Cracker Barrel for dinner as part of the messed up schedule was that I had to be out of the house somewhere, anywhere, for a couple of hours. And since fried catfish and perfect biscuits go along way to help stress, I'm doing great now. ;) Even better, it was a kid's portion so I'm not off track on calories!

Alrighty then...I'm off to back and them off to bed.

Oh yeah, I've got to put the Buzz patches on Terra's jeans. Can't forget that!

I am sorry that it is pouring right now in your life!!
My boss lost his sense of taste about a decade ago....they couldn't/haven't ever found a reason for it. Hope it's something like this.

sounds awesome can't wait to hear about the party and see pics!!

Vicki-I hope Chuck feels better pronto

Karyn-I will keep Desirea and her family in my prayers that everything goes the way it's supposed to.

sounds awesome can't wait to hear about the party and see pics!!

I'll be sure to take some of everything before the party and will put someone else in charge of them at the party. The best part is that the 2 invited friends get to come! Wendy is bringing Danae over as Dad is in town and can stay with Michael. Plus, her other friend's mom called today to say that they are healthy enough to come. Colds had been going around their house the last two weeks. I'm so glad as there are only those 2, plus Kassie, Connor and Terra. She is sooo excited and counting down the hours!

It's a little long (5min) but this video is amazing...

http://www.komando.com/videos/2-14.asp

Computers can do some amazing things. But they may never outstrip the human mind. Stephen Wiltshire illustrates this, literally. He is an autistic man with an incredible ability. He can see an entire cityscape and reproduce it perfectly on paper. Watch him draw Rome after flying over it in a helicopter.

Well, the cake is beeping (well, the oven anyway) so I'd better go grab it. Then it's a little more clean up and off to bed. Tomorrow's going to be a long day.

Good night!

I'm sorry your computer is acting up, Jen. I have no idea what to tell you, but I hope you can find a resolution soon. Did Dell have any ideas?

Dell has been no help--Ill try again this weekend--didnt have time today
Tom - very cute, both the outfit and Leighanna.

Elin - love the new pictures in your sig.

YAY Olivia!

Alyssa went to the doctor, and has just a viral cold. He said it is going around and almost as bad as the flu. So she will just get motrin and lots of water. I also found out that our ped is retiring at the end of April. So now I have to be on the search for a new one. John asked if I wanted to do it or if I wanted him to. DUH! That's a no-brainer. Who knows what criteria he would use to judge a good doctor!

Tom-Cute oufit!!!

Tammi-hope alyssa is feeling better

i need to ask for some pixie dust sent to Desirae. she left her husband last night after a huge fight. they are going to try and work it out and she is/has given him some ultimatums for her to stay around. she is going to talk with him tonight and tell him what he needs to change and what she wants them to work on. he has an appointment for him to try and get his anger issues under control on Tuesday. i am really hoping this helped him see whats going on. thanks for the ears to listen.

Pixie dust sent!

Oh Denise, it sounds like you definitely did the right thing! What rotten children!

I agree Denise--poor BK!

hi everyone-
I just got home from teh concert and am just checking email and catching up here before i go to bed..
I had a blast at the concert! Carrie Underwood seemed to have a sore throat, but still sounded pretty good--keith urban was just amazing! The concert went til amost 1130--it was great!
But it was a long drive home and its after 2---im headed to bed! getting up at 8 for my massage!

have a great night!

I pay several bills monthly with mine and have never had a problem. But again, I don't carry a balance on it, so maybe that has something to do with it. :confused3

We most certainly won't be carrying a balance. I have done those balance transfer checks with other bank cards (I have one dedicated to JUST balance transfers that we have used for Disney in the past). I have NEVER had any issues with the APR jumping! Unfortunately we haven't gotten any checks from that card in several months. I don't think they are doing that promo right now. (Or the checks got lost with all the rest of our mail. ) I will probably charge a couple of things like our storage unit and maybe one other bill next month and just see how it goes. I am very good about paying the bill so it should be fine!

Yes I am. :flower3:

I never understand the "so" much packaging for small items. Disney did it to me, when the stuff we shipped home during our trip came. The box was huge and the UPS man said it weighs 12 pounds. :scared1: There was more filler then items. :sad2:

I was looking at the villains pin set, but went with individual pins instead.

I bought 4 sets of the "Hollywood" pins. It's a 5 pin set. The pins are in a box. The box is in a sleeve. The sleeve is in bubble wrap. All that is in a flat box about the size of a shirt box. The 4 shirt size boxes were stacked in a HUGE brown shipping box. Ridiculous! :sad2:

Why am I so eaten up over this? I keep thinking I made a mistake, or that I'm overreacting, or just being a ITCH... I don't want to have made a mistake, but I feel like I did, even though I have to trust my instincts. Sometimes being a parent sucks.

Denise, that girl purposely bamboozled B-K and then STOLE from her. You did NOT make the wrong choice!
Being a parent absolutely sucks.
DS is having some problems with his former "best" friend. The friend is apparently trying to impress some of the "thugs" by being kind of a jerk to DS. The friend isn't a very cool kid, so he tends to gravitate to the thugs. DS is also struggling with not being one of the popular kids. I don't care if he isn't popular as long as the popular kids don't taunt him. Middle school is brutal, I know that, I went to one once upon a time. I just want DS to be marginally happy. :guilty:

I am here for now. I started to get a sore throat this afternoon at my first recital. Now it is just awful and I think my cold has headed south into my chest. I stopped at the drugstore and got more Zicam and the REAL Nyquil that you have to sign away your first born to get. I hope Kathrin doesn't mind that Rite Aid and the FDA own her now...

If I can do it for ExMomboss then Kathrin can do it for you! (I have heard that the pharmacies aren't linked, so if you need more meds you can go to another pharmacy and buy them.)

Denise, this is not your week! I hope it is nothing serious!!:wizard:

love the new hair, Vicki!! :)

More pics! We need more pics!!

Yeah, that's it! I don't know if it was that good a movie that I was surprised or if I was just "off" that day. It was the first and only time I have ever been "shocked" at the end of a movie like that.

I WISH I had gotten a chance to watch this movie before I heard the big spoiler! It's very different when you know the secret from the beginning!

It is pouring rain here. I think we will be stying IN. I told DS we need to start going through his summer clothes, but I wonder if it is too early to start that? Maybe I should wait another month or 2. :confused3

I am still in Lansing. I worked until 12:30 last night (this morning). I got up at 5:30am again to get started. I ended up working until 8:30pm tonight. I had hoped to head out by noon today but there was still too much to get done. I want to make sure I have things in place so that I can take the week off without calling in while we are at Disney. By the time I left tonight, I realized I was too tired to even start home. Our weather report is good until Sunday so I should be able to get home with no problems.

I am glad you decided to stay, Vicki. Traveling when you were tired would have been hard for you and you had the option to spend the night and get some rest. Smart move! :)

Anything I can do to cheer you up??? ;) :rolleyes1

:rotfl: I'm feeling pretty good today, but thanks!

Actually, I wasn't that upset. I just needed to make sure we were on the same page with "bigger" stuff (sharing names, decision-making, history, etc). I hate to be like this towards his mother because it seems so stereotypical. Still though, if my mom could not keep ANYTHING to herself (large or small.... please realize the issue here is not at all that she told everyone the genders. They clearly will find out soon enough anyway ;)) .... then I would hope we'd keep her in the dark a bit as well! There are some things that adult children should just be able to confide in their parents in, without it becoming public knowledge. I know some people are just better at keeping private things private. Hence, the reason she was never let in on all the details of these babies beginning.... God forbid we end up a story in their small-town newspapers! :rotfl:

Thanks for all the advice. One thing I'm quite concerned about is the girl taunting or bullying BK now that I've said they can't play and have asked for BK to sit elsewhere on the bus. Any advice for this? I don't know if it would happen, but BK is very tenderhearted, and it would kill her if someone was mean. I don't want to be mean to this girl, but their relationship is just not healthy for BK.

I don't have any advice (I was definitely the same child, so I can sympathize with your fears).... I will keep you and BK in my prayers! Give her an extra hug from us as well!

Nah. My DVD arrived today. DH just went to pick up a pizza so we'll watch it when he gets back. Guess my code must be running a bit behind.

I keep meaning to ask -- is there a new DVD? I'm so out of the loop! I used to order one each year, but they seemed to keep the same one for quite a while. Are you all just requesting it at hopes for codes, etc?

Ok, I know that I'm not going to be able to post without putting up the pictures. Unfortunately, I forgot to have someone from work to take them yesterday when I took the time to style it. You can't really see the change in color in these pictures or the actual style. :lmao: I don't even know why I'm posting them.

Looks good! Now if only we'd have some spring/summer weather someday this year, you'd be set -- the cut looks perfect!

:( Denise, I pray for peace for you all until you can get some answers! I hope this turns out to be nothing. :wizard: :grouphug:

I sent her a nice coupon-that should cheer her up.;)

It doesn't sound like that girl will have too many kids who will pay attention to her and I'm sure BK has lots of good friends. It really stinks!

Where's mine?

I wouldn't worry too much.

I got it, thank you! I'm hoping they might adjust and at least give me the gift cards for every $40 spent... we'll see. If not, maybe I'll let Kyle shop a little... except that everything he picks out might already be in our closet :rolleyes1

I have to tell you that webkinz site is addictive. We had a good time playing tonight. Each of the boys had a computer and I had mine. They thought it was great inviting me to their "homes" and to play games with them. They were a bit competitive over who's turn it was to play with mommy :lmao: I am impressed with the quality and quantity of things on the site. :thumbsup2

I'm heading to bed as I NEED more sleep.

TTYL

Sounds like a fun family night! I have yet to check out Webkinz, for anyone I know!

I was also shocked at the end, Vicki. The Sixth Sense is so NOT my kind of movie but some friends really encouraged me to watch it so I rented it for Bob and Kritsin and me to watch. The two of them left the living room because they were not really interested and took naps, leaving me to watch the rest of the movie alone. The end left me speechless and I had NO ONE to talk to about it!!! :rotfl:

Just as an update, my email address changed quite some time ago. I thought I posted a change on here, but maybe I really didn't (we're talking probably at least a year ago). Thanks Chanon and Amy for bringing it to my attention!

The only email address I really check at home is jn.kaufman@yahoo.com. If you have been emailing stuff, I'm sorry!

Denise -- also, I really didn't get the email you sent about your friends. Amy pointed out that it went to an old address, but even when I searched there I don't see it. Just wanted you to know, in case you were looking for a reply! :goodvibes
