DDA Chapter 4

What kinds of things? I'm off to the Budget Board!

A lady is claiming that her LOCKED IN rate of 3.9% on a balance transfer has gone up to 24% without her being late or over the limit. That sounds completely wrong to me - those balance transfer checks are absolute unless you violate the terms! BUT if it is true then I am really not sure I want to use that card for anything!

i need to ask for some pixie dust sent to Desirae. she left her husband last night after a huge fight. they are going to try and work it out and she is/has given him some ultimatums for her to stay around. she is going to talk with him tonight and tell him what he needs to change and what she wants them to work on. he has an appointment for him to try and get his anger issues under control on Tuesday. i am really hoping this helped him see whats going on. thanks for the ears to listen.
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Hope they can work things out.

Chanon,
Have your heard anything about DDP for AP holders?

Bernadette,
Yay for your ADR's!!!! So we are all set for 8/20? I am still working on where I can fit in the WC.
8.gif
I sent you a PM. Not what we were hoping for. Seems you can't do a table of 10. The CM wanted to put the 6 kids at one table and the 4 adults at another.

I haven't. I will do some research. Even if we can buy it without being required to purchase park passes I still won't buy it, because the park passes weren't the deal breaker for us. If we can buy it and still have a discount on the room I will think about it.
It would work for us because the price of the DDP for the 3 kids is less than the price of a character meal. I just didn't really want to do a TS meal everyday but if I can do it without a pass and still get a discount on the room I might have to consider it.

Hard to believe.:confused3

Bernadette - I can't find anything about DDP for AP holders. Ordinarily things like that are leaked way ahead of time. :confused3 I wonder if that's why the AP discounts are so paltry? They are going to let us add DDP on top of the AP room rate and not require tickets? Hmm.

:lmao: I was waiting for you to respond.
I know Elin did too.

I haven't been doing my ewwww's every time I see a ewwable time.....but I knew I couldn't pass up a valentine's ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!:lmao:

The CM didn't say anything about AP room discount but Disney does off discounted packages with DDP so why not? I found it hard to believe it was going to come out on Monday and noone has heard anything about it. She did sound knowledgeable though????

I wonder do those CM's have nightmares about having to repeat "this is a non smoking restaurant, park admission is required, characters subject to change without notice, please allow 1 hour travel time if using Disney transportation, please arrive at the podium blah, blah, blah...." all day long.

I don't know if they have nightmares about it, but I almost do! :rotfl2:

Well, in January the AP rates were a flat $50 off the room rate for Deluxes. Paltry!!! In the past they were $75-$100 off each night. I am still trying to sort this out. With DDE we will spend around $150 per day on food (total). Deluxe DDP would cost $210 per day plus tips. So even if we save $50 per night and can buy the plan we'll still be paying MORE than we would paying OOP and using DDE, with the only bonus being adult portions for DS which I know he can't finish!

I meant to say....I was VERY happy with my AP discount in January!!! You really can't beat $49 for a value resort. I think the discounts are paltry because bookings are up. Why give a discount if you don't have to? BUT if they want me to buy into the DDP they need to do something.

At the begining of the call the CM asked if I had the DDP and I said no and she told me do you know you can save up to 40% on the DDP? That is when I told her not when I already have an AP and have to buy tickets.

If they do something I'll have to think about it because this is the last year all 3 kids are Disney kids.

Sorry....I broke my Deluxe habbit a few years ago.:lmao:

I think bookings at Deluxe hotels are up. I was getting $33 off per night or 40%. I was happy.

Who has a Disney Visa? Have you ever had any weird problems with them? A bunch of folks on the Budget Board (who all have flawless credit, of course) are reporting all sorts of horrible things. Our card is still pretty new, and I just paid it off so if they do something bizarre with the APR it won't matter. Our first 6 months were 0%, and I knew that was ending so I didn't want to have a balance on it. But now even if I am going to pay it off every month I am kind of nervous about using it! Which is silly, but those Budget folks are making me paranoid!:scared:

We have 2 Disney Visa cards. One we pay off monthly. The other we used a visa check at the 3.9% rate to purchase DVC. I've had no problems with interest or with rewards points. We are charter members so we've been onboard for years now.

I got the 20% off code via email for requesting the DVD (my first code ever). But, the dates don't include our travel dates for April 26-May 4. I'm just happy I got the 10% off with AAA. At least it's something...

Well, at least you know you can now get one.

How long ago did you order the DVD? I already have one (ordered it in early Jan.), but ordered one under Jonathan's name/info. earlier this week, hoping it would trigger a code. Nothing yet! I do have AAA on everything I do have booked, too - thank goodness for that!

Those are cute! I'm loving what they're doing with clothes for kids lately. :thumbsup2

I was on the phone with Disney Dining today and had a great rep so I made an ADR for the 4 of us (you, your Mom, me, & Emma) for Tusker House on May 5th at 10:30. It is EE at AK that morning so that would give us time to do a few rides before breakfast. That is what Joe & I did and it worked out great. It was a bit when we first got there but it got nice and quiet as the place started to empty out. I can always call and cancel or change if it doesn't fit your schedule.

I'm thinking that will work! Thanks for doing that! :goodvibes I heard a good review on a podcast of that breakfast recently, and it made me SO HUNGRY!

I haven't had anything weird happen with mine. We've had it for almost 3 years, I think. :confused3

The only problem I had was my own fault. It was after the diaster of a trip in October 2005. 9 nights at Poly CL room only with a AAA discount. So I paid the balance of 8 nights on my Disney Visa at check in and all other trip expenses so I had something like a $6,000 balance due when I got home. That was the trip that I was convinced I would never go to Disney again after so I came home in a really nasty mood and then we all got sick so I ended up missing the payment. I had a late fee and a huge interest charge and then that put me into revolving credit so I had to pay interest on the next month too. AND they didn't credit me the $60 of rewards dollars either. BUT....as soon as I got it all paid they did give me the $60.

It did cure me of my concierge habbit.:lmao:

I've continued to use my Disney Visa as I know I will use the rewards and they are easy to use. I just have to order a new card so I can use it to buy my AP in May.

Same thing happened with my Amex Jet Blue card only thier billing cycle is a lot smaller so I missed the payment after my August trip. I don't think I will let happen again.

What happened? :listen:

Lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for them.

She could have very easily been late with another creditor, and that spurred the increase. I've read the fine print on those deals before and if you default under ANY agreement you have out there (not just with that particular creditor) it can affect your interest rates and credit across the board.

Another busy night here. When I picked the kids up Alyssa complained of a sore throat. They wanted to go to the roller skating party that there school was sponsoring so we got there a little after 6. Alyssa complained again about her throat, but she wanted to stay. I could have taken her home and had another mom bring Nicholas home when it was over. So when we finally do get home and I get her inside I could tell she was running a fever. It was 101 so I got some ibuprofen in her. Now she is sleeping here in my bed. I hope it's a peaceful night for her. The good thing is her dad is off tomorrow so she can stay with him. Plus it's a long weekend for added recovery time. I just wonder if it is strep and if I should get her into the ped tomorrow.

Oh, I hope she is feeling better soon! I almost wish it would have been strep... hopefully the virus isn't a long one! :wizard:

Oh, I love Carter's sales. I haven't found much lately for the boys, but if I knew of a baby or two that will be arriving soon...I could be persuaded to shop. Of course I would need to know the gender(s):rolleyes1

MEANIE!!!!:upsidedow

Jennifer - so glad you had fun shopping! You know, I have a Carter's right down the street....but I'd have no idea what to buy. And I just can't stand buying something yellow or green!

Well, it ended up being a low-key night here, which was nice. I so wish it were Friday, but sadly it's not. Jonathan got me a very thoughtful gift - a new spa with a membership package has opened here (the idea is you commit to paying a monthly fee for a number of months, and each month you get a spa treatment for "free" and any other treatments are a certain reduced rate). I can't wait to begin using it!

Not much longer, you impatient ladies! ;) I actually told my family last night. Kyle wanted to tell his too, "to be fair"... but I'd rather the entire world not know. If it were up to me, you all would know LONG before my MIL! :rotfl:

(And Lindsay, what a great gift!)

Tammi-I hope Alyssa feels better quickly...I forgot to say that yourBob is so thoughtful.:lovestruc

I did end up finding No Reservation....very slow moving movie..I am afraid I have corrupted my oldest. She said it was also predictable (it was).....I didn't realize how much she has started loving English and literature. Abi didn't want to watch it...probably a good thing since on screen kisses still get ewwww's from her:rotfl2:

Ooh, I just added this to our Netflix! I want to see it, even if it is predictable . I, too, find most movies too much so today!

Last night was the night for DDA dreams! I NEVER remember my dreams, but last night's I did.

Glynis... Bob and Kristin and I came to visit you and you and your whole family had you had a cookout/party for us. Although your house didn't look like mine, I noticed that we had the same teapot, china, stoneware, snowmen and serving platters. :rotfl: We had a great time, by the way. Thanks! :rotfl2:

Sounds like fun! :) I like your new signature pictures!

Jennifer - I am so glad that you know about those little babies now. It sounds like they jumpstarted your enjoyment of the pregnancy with the revelation of the gender(s). As Elizabeth can attest, there is nothing that beats a shopping trip!

Can't wait to find out when you are ready to tell us. :goodvibes

See, now look at Elin exuding patience! Maybe I'll tell her first..... ;)

Ugh I'm sick  Chills or Sweats, fever, cough, sore throat and ear ache. Along with some body aches. I think it might be the flu :confused3 I haven't slept well the last couple of nights. I have medicated and hope that it kicks in soon as Hunter is in a mini play at 9 AM and he will be heart broken if I don't make it. My plan is to hit his play and pick up Logan early since I will already be there. I told my DB that either I get him early or he can get him himself. Early is fine with him :lmao: He was here yesterday so he has already been exposed. I think he will help occupy Colby's time and make life easier for me. We will all have a nap today though.

So my mom was sick last week she called me last Friday to tell me that she was sick and running a fever. She had started feeling achy last Wed. then on Thur. she developed a fever. So Jeff and I rearranged schedules on Sat and his day off Mon he switched to Tues so I could work he worked Mon. Mom says on Wed. she is feeling better and can watch the girls yesterday. I get home at 815 last night and mom calls me and says around 4:30 she started feeling achy again and at 5:30 she took her temp it was 102:scared1: which for her is very high her normal is 97.6 same as me. Jeff did not pick the girls up till 6:45. So I might have to call in tomorrow if she is still sick. We are supposed to go to Waco next weekend. I hope the girls don't get sick.

Oh no! All of you need to get and/or stay healthy! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Good Morning DDA!

Sounds like everyone had a great Valentine's Day! I had to work last night so I took DW out for lunch.

Leighanna has her Valentine party today. She is excited! She made up all of her classmates cards all by herself. Now mind you, I can't read half of the names she wrote, but she clearly can tell you which card goes to each of her friends. She did pick out Disney cards to give out. That's my girl!

Here is a picture of her this morning.
th_snvds1.jpg

Yes! She likes Snoopy too!

Have a great day friends!

Lots of :wizard: to everyone feeling under the weather today! Hope it misses us this round!

How cute! I hope Leighanna had tons of fun at her party!

Jennifer - I keep forgetting to respond to your question from last night.

One of the bloggers on AllEars had posted in December about a t-shirt he bought that had the monorail (and the DL castle :confused3 ) on it with the "por favor...." spiel on it. He then posted shortly thereafter that the shirt was no longer available, and he was sorry to get everyone's hopes up.

http://www.allearsnet.com/blogs/jackspence/2008/01/tshirt_1.html

But - apparently they're just on backorder, as someone sent the info. in to the AllEars newsletter this week with all the pertinent ordering info. I called WDW Merchandise Mail-Order this week, and they knew exactly what I was talking about. They had expected the new shipment in by February, but assured me I would get a shirt sent out when they finally came in.

Needless to say, Jonathan was thrilled with that little gift. One of his favorite things to do is repeat that phrase. ;)

Here's the blurb from this week's AllEars newsletter:

... from Dana: My tip is about the the grey (Spanish/English) Monorail t-shirt that was available in December. I just wanted to let you and your readers know that I've contacted Disney Merchandise and placed an order for the shirt. The cast member told me that it would be available anytime between now and February, but an order could be placed now. They just asked for the SKU number and credit card information. The credit card will not be charged until the order is fulfilled. Here is the information emailed directly from the Disney Merchandise Department:

Por Favor Tee, Adult, Grey, $21.95
Sku 175-07390 (small) through 175-07394 (2XL)
Shipping and Handling for this item only: $9.95

I hope this helps those who are interested. Thanks again for mentioning this shirt. I never knew it existed before reading the newsletter!

How cool! Kyle spent our entire trip in May learning how to say it, and is so proud that he still remembers! :rotfl:

Jennifer - I don't remember exactly when they did Goofy codes, but it seems like it wasn't that long ago. Do they do them more than once?

I think it was very recently.... within the last month or two.

Oh, it took Jonathan forever to remember it, too. Now, he just says it wrong to irritate me! :rotfl:

He's been saying for a while that he wants to make that the "start-up" sound on his laptop!

That wound be fun :) I remember in college I made every sound on my laptop something from a movie, etc. I think it would drive me nuts now! But a startup wouldn't be bad. :)

Our next door neighbors who we ADORED and their 2 DD's (oldest was the kids very good friend) moved to Orlando at the beginning of Dec. New people moved in, and there is just something very off with them. They have a DD5th grade, DD3rd grade, and DS4. The kids just run all over with no supervision, the DS hit Rees in the head 1st day with a screwdriver and hit my neighbors DS in the head with a wood bat last week... the kids aren't supervised... the DD3rd grade runs all over the neighborhood by herself, oldest DD wants to play with BK (there is a 5-6 year age difference), middle DD is always inside in trouble... parents never apologize for behavior or seem concerned... are just off... none of us are real comfortable with them... gut says beware... middle DD is always telling BK stuff that's not true to make her believe it (like there's a killer bunny on Webkinz that will kill all her animals)

So, Monday BK gets off the bus and says that DD3rd wants her Beagle Webkinz and can she give it to her. I say no, and tell them both that. Then today, BK comes home and says she really wanted it and asked for BK's password so she could earn her money... go check and all of BK's money is gone out of her Webkinz acct and she hasn't been on it since last weekend and had tons of $$ left... I go next door with BK and confront the neighbor and daughter. Neighbor won't even consider the fact. I say I'm not comfortable with the things she's been telling BK either, that the age difference isn't appropriate for them to be playing together, and that they aren't allowed to play anymore. Mom just shrugs and shuts the door. Both my other neighbors already weren't allowing them to play with their kids. I'm just upset as I've never had a bad relationship with the neighbors. I know I did the right thing, but I'm really upset. BK is too young to get it and just keeps saying she loves her and wants to be her friend. They sit next to each other on the bus, so I've emailed a request that BK be moved on Tuesday.
