DDA Chapter 3

Checking in...

Not sure when I'll be able to check back in with you guys.

I told a couple of you on this thread last week that I believed I was pregnant....which I am.

Unfortunately, it has turned out to what doctors believe is an ectopic pregnancy. So joy has turned into sadness/fear very quickly in this household. Not really sure what the future holds right now....I am on daily monitoring...if levels do not decrease on their own I am facing possible surgery maybe even emergency surgery if the pain persists. As awful as it sounds, the better thing would be to have have a natural miscarriage......and unless something resolves very quickly, there will be no Disney trip.

Bill is completely out of his mind right now....after the doctor pumped him full of the ectopic risks (mainly the death one) he has been hovering all over me.

I did instruct him to call Marti & Marci should something happen.

Well, there you have it.

 You'll definitely be in my prayers

Kristine my heart is aching for you  My thoughts & prayers for you & Bill.

Kristine I am so, so sorry and will keep you and Bill in my prayers.

Kristine, you and Bill are in my prayers. I wish there was something I could do to make it all better. Just know I'm there with you in spirit!

Kristine - :grouphug: You remain in my prayers. I'm so very sorry!

I used to LOVE those Graco Duo strollers! I had them for 2 different jobs. Brother & Sister had a Combi side-by-side that I HATED. Princess has a Maclaren but I use a little Graco for her so I don't have to worry about taking it out of my car at the end of the day. BabyTrend makes a really nice stroller with a 5 point harness and a higher weight limit than a lot of the strollers, but it might be too small for Emma.

The Duo Glide is what we pretty much have to settle for... thankfully it gets good reviews. It's the only double stroller that accepts two newborns (in a travel system), they are all designed for an infant and a toddler sibling. We hated the side-by-sides as well.... the tandems are much easier to drive! :rotfl:

Thanks, Elizabeth. I agree that money isn't everything. If it were, I wouldn't be a teacher! :rotfl: She realizes it too. She is making good money now and not liking her job much these days. The non-profit agency that offered her $15,000 more than she makes now is not her first choice because she fears she will soon tire of writing the spin required. It is also located outside of Boston in Lexington. Her dream is to live and work in downtown Boston. The second company, her favorite (and mine as you will soon see :rolleyes1), is located in downtown Boston with a younger staff and a chance to be very creative in her writing. I think that if they come back with anything additional she will be writing about these little baubles from Hearts On Fire:

BEAUTIFUL! Has she made any headway on the decision or heard back from the other company?

Debbie -- keep at this scrapbooking... each page is better and better!

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes for Kathrin. She is understandably very excited and very scared right now. Although she worked practically full-time the whole way through high school and college (her choice, not ours) and lived in a dorm for 3 years and on her own in an apartment or house for the past 6 years, she has never really lived away from us. I don't consider a little under an hour's drive far away. She realized on the drive home from the airport that she was "leaving home" in a month. That has to be scary for her. I know it is for me! Within the next 4 months or so, Bob and I will truly become empty-nesters (God willing on Kristin's part!! :rotfl: ), I guess. Wow... the possibilities are endless!

Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!

Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob on this fabulous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators,
Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.

After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:

"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me.
Six more weeks of winter it will be!"

I'm sorry, but I hate that groundhog!

Guess I need to learn how to erase too. :confused3 :rotfl:

:rotfl:

Robyn - We went to Cafe Brazil. It's a local chain. I had the French Toast with fruit. HUGE portion of melon, strawberries, bananas over French toast with raspberry cream sauce. It's my favorite. They also have an awesome self-serve coffee bar.
We should go there when you guys come to Dallas.

That sounds absolutely delicious! I'm starving! :rotfl:

We've always wanted to adopt, and if things don't work out for us to conceive naturally, we'll go ahead with it.

If we lived farther away from Lydia and her family, I would do it in a heartbeat! However, there's just too much potential for heartbreak this way. My cousin and her husband adopted his sister's baby, and that was 10 years ago. The sister and mother have not spoken to, or visited Brent and Mindy since then. I just couldn't handle that.

I know that Lydia and Brandon will find the perfect couple. They are putting a lot of thought and prayer into their decision. They may have started this out in a bad way, but they are doing everything they can to make it right.

I'm glad to hear they are handling this very well... I continue to pray for the whole situation!

Well she best get over it soon! She did fine the first couple of nights home so I am hoping the bedtime issues are more her teeth and reflux issues. It's also very quiet in here right now- which is unheard of in this house. She loves to people watch so she is bored, I'm not that exciting.

Who's gonna be our designated driver?

I'm pretty sure I could do it. I spent my whole weekend mothering a bunch of drunks! :rolleyes1 ;)

we got a taste of it last night....we had a thunder snow!! one particularly loud one shook our walls and the lightening accompanying it was BRIGHT!! like right across the street. :scared1:

Did you mean show, or really "thunder snow"? In all the weather we get, i don't know that we've ever had that combo! It sounds cool!

I am very proud of myself! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Way to go! You got a lot accomplished, but - more importantly - your trip sounds like it's coming together nicely!

Thunder snow, we had it the other day. Really freaky!

Did you mean show, or really "thunder snow"? In all the weather we get, i don't know that we've ever had that combo! It sounds cool!

Thursday August 14th.

Not too early as we arrive that day but not too late as Janet leaves the next day. Hoping for something in the 5:30-6:00 range.
Ok, that's good. I'm thinking we will be at MGM that day, and will want to go back over for Fantasmic, which is at 9. I'm working on my days, and we might do BB this time around.

I have done 2 trips now that were "carry-on only" and I didn't like the way it felt. I must have LOTS of stuff!
I hope everybody is healthy again soon! :wizard:

I couldn't agree more!

The latest update from Mac on Aiden...

February 02, 2008 at 03:56 PM CST
Aidan got his hearing aids, but as predicted, they haven't done anthing for him. It's ok though he is learning to keep them in his ears. He is getting a mouthfull of teeth and his feeding therapist thinks he will start using them shortly.

His surgery went well with the tubes and now we just wait for the next one. However I just found out my insurance will be changing so we will have to go through the authorization process again.

It's hard to believe just a little over a month and he will be One year old. He's been home now for only a little over three months, but gosh it seems longer then that.

Thank you for posting that!

So apparently I'm a bad mommy. :( Terra has had a cough for week or two. It started with the congestion a week or so ago and the cough is lingering. The last couple of days it has gotten a little worse - deeper and more hacking. So what do I do today....let her play outside for an hour. The temps weren't terrible - mid40s when we were out - and I did bundle her up a lot, but it was still chilly. I just felt so bad because she wanted to build a "Snow Phil" and do some sledding so much. So we build the Snow Phil, took a few runs down the hill, I pulled her a few circles around the yard and we had a great snowball fight. Lots of fun all around. However, she hasn't stopped coughing since we came inside. :( Not much coughing while we were out, but constant now. Hopefully it will clear up by Monday, but if not, I think that it's time to call the doctor.

You are NOT a bad mommy! Is Terra feeling better yet? I hope it was short-lived!

I have never gotten the s'mores thing. :confused3 Ice cream, on the other hand, I get just FINE.:rotfl:

WHAT?! :faint: I think S'mores might be my favorite dessert.... second only to the S'mores dessert at 50's PTC! :rotfl:

For breakfast I make pancakes with pureed strawberries in the batter, I pour them in heart shapes and serve them with strawberry syrup. I use strawberry Nestle quik in milk for pink milk or make berry smoothies.

For lunch I put valentine's day snack mix in their lunch boxes; chocolate teddy grahams, yogurt covered pretzels, honey roast nuts, m&m's, etc. all mixed together.

For dinner this year, I'm making heart shaped pizzas for the kids, and then after they go to bed, Alan and I will have stuffed artichokes with something chocolatey for dessert.

I like to put a heart shaped box of candy on the kid's plates at dinner. Alan will also bring flowers for the girls, and something boyish for Jacob. Gum or something like that.

I so want to be Glynis when I grow up! :teeth:

well im home from dinner--it was fun, but im exhausted
But i got to talk to Frankie--one of our new friends that works on cruise ships--he only can use his cell phone on saturdays so it was so nice to talk to him.

I had an interesting experience tonight though--i did a split in the ladies room haha
I went to get a paper towel and there was water on the floor and i basically did a split--grabbed onto the sink so i didnt fall---my brothers girlfriend was in the bathroom with me and was hysterical..thats my dumb move for the night!

I'm glad you are ok, and were able to provide some entertainment for your brother's girlfriend! ;)

I'm throwing this out there to see what you all do...

Does salt go in the shaker with more or less holes?

It was a topic of conversation during our dinner last night with our friends. I've only done it one way my entire life. And they have it the opposite. Stupid I know, but now I'm curious!

This made me realize -- we have never owned salt and pepper shakers! :rotfl: We don't salt anything (at all, I never have), so we have a pepper mill with an empty salt portion on top. I keep salt the cabinet for baking only. Who knew we were so weird!? ;)

I don't know if this link will work, but I wanted to show you what I got Bob for VD, aside from the concert tickets.

Tammi, it looks great! Did you get a copy for yourself too? Have you ordered it yet, I'm sure there are probably B1G1 coupons. Wonderful job!

I have been watching Disney shows on the Travel Channel since I got home from work. I have seen them all before, but I just can't help myself :rotfl:

Oh, Kristine, I am so sorry for everything that you all are going through. You are in my prayers. :grouphug::hug:

Argh. :headache:

DH just called. I had mentioned how DS NEVER uses his locker. For some reason today he went by the locker to get his art supplies out because art is over - he is in computer this semester. His lock is gone, all of his art supplies have been stolen.

We aren't sure what all was in there. Sketching pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers are definitely all gone. With all those blasted supply lists that came home and all the duplication on them I have no clue what else might have been stolen. I don't think the monetary value of it was all that much.

Now there is no way he will start using a locker. He will continue to drag 35 pounds of stuff around in his backpack and he will be completely paranoid about people stealing his stuff. DH is mad because DS doesn't even know how long it has been since he went to the locker so he doesn't know when it happened. Doesn't matter, really, because his stuff is gone. I guess it is good that it happened now when he is finished with art so I don't have to go replace all that stuff! He has plenty of art supplies at home.

Thank you. Yes I did. I'm glad I got that email before I placed the order!

It was just beautiful here today. Makes me ready for spring.

Required PE is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. I HATED PE in high school. I really, really hated it and I refused to even try to participate.

Right now it is an elective for DS, which he did NOT elect. I think that guarantees that the kids who WANT to be in PE will be there, and it spares everyone else. I am not sure if it will stay that way as he progresses through middle & high school, though. It seems like I heard some sort of proposal to make it mandatory but I don't know what happened with that.

i hated PE with a passion--luckily , i didnt have to do much! I had surgery twice in high school so my doctor wrote a note and i didnt really have to do anything..i could have, but told the doctor it hurt so i didnt have to:rotfl: i got grades for walking the track and keeping track of score in the games

Kristine - I don't know what to say other than I will be lifting you up in prayer. Lots of   :wizard: :wizard: and prayers for strength and peace for both you, Bill, and the rest of your family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

im so sorry! Ill keep you guys in my prayers kristine

Elizabeth, was the locker totally cleaned out? Though, it typically happens at the end of the year, not semester changes, sometimes custodians are instructed to cut off locks and clean out lockers. Regardless, I'm sorry about the lost supplies!

Amy -- love the newest pics of your cuties. You are so good about taking your kids -- will you come take mine to the photographer? :rotfl:

Thanks Marci. :goodvibes I miss Texas, so I wish I could help you out!

Holy cow, this is taking FOREVER! :faint:

I am going to go back and catch up...we had fun at bowling but on the way there we went by a fairly serious accident and couldn't figure out why traffic wasn't letting up. This is why:

there was a car seat thrown about 10 ft. from the van. :sad1:

I don't know that I can ever go back on that stretch of road...I cried for 10 minutes. What a horrible sight and the road was still closed when we went toward that area a half hour ago. :sad1:

:sad1: How sad for all involved, and everyone that witnessed it!

\
Have you heard anything about how the Minnie Marathon will affect crowds that weekend? I wasn't even paying attention to that! :scared:

We were there during the last Minnie, and the crowds were not really any different. We saw the race on Sunday (?) morning, but that's it. NOTHING like marathon weekend!

Thanks. I don't think at this moment, but depending on where things go I could definitely see it happening. ;) :goodvibes Plus, I just got my planner, so I'll dangle that under his nose for awhile. I'm really getting him into this Disney stuff. When he comes over on Wednesday he wants to sit down and decide where we are eating, and then look at the menus to get an idea of prices to figure out which would be better, the dde or the ddp. He even said to me today...."are we six months out from August yet? We'll need to make ADRs soon." I think he realized the importance of planning when he kept seeing people get turned away from LeCellier in October.

Way to go, Tammi! :teeth:

my job is an after school counselor hired on by the ymca. its kinda ironic because i am at a school that was named after one of my mom's principles she worked under. also i might be doing an at home csr position.

Congratulations!

the cruise has just popped up within the passed few days.my grandmother that just passed loved going on cruises. my uncle had the idea that once everything was finalized with her estate we should go on a cruise in memory of our grandparents who both love travel. so yesterday my cousin and i talked and she and i are planning it. so far we have new years or next thanksgiving. i went ahead with putting next thanksgiving in my ticker and when i know for sure the date i will change it. so i am excited about that too.

That sounds like fun, and a great way to remember your grandparents. What a good idea!

Elin, was that only on your local channel?

I didn't see any political ads here, so I'm thinking it must have been. At least around here, the local Fox affiliate gets to keep a (tiny) portion of the ads for local advertisers.

Elin, Tammi, or anyone else have you ever been to Williamsburg, VA? What about Busch Gardens?

We are thinking of taking a trip elsewhere(I know bad, bad, bad, lol)in the next couple of years. The area seems beautiful with lots to do! I think a visit to the beach would be in order as well.

So what can you tell me :)

I have been to Busch Gardens in VA and now Tampa, and was very, very underwhelmed. That being said, the area in general would be a great vacation spot!

Debbie, Ayden is adorable! Love your latest page!

You'd think with so many people sharing their latest creative creations (Tammi, Jen, Clare, Becky, Deb, Tom, Debbie, etc.), I'd be inspired. At least I am trying out new recipes this week! :teeth:

The sweet and sour (aka crazy) chicken is in the crockpot today. I invited some of Kevin's family over for dinner, so hopefully it tastes as good as it smells! :)

Hope everyone has a good night!
