DDA Chapter 3

Shirring is the when fabric is sewn through many times row above row and then pulled tight to make a ripple type effect. It is often used in shirts and dresses.

Thanks for the picture Becky. That helps. Chuck didn't even know what it was. That is very unusual! :lmao:

Cassidy had fun at the dance...kind of....we discussed the fact it might be time to move on to a different as the one she's been crushing on has not made a move. I think he's oblivious.

You need to get a life girl. I remember a time when you and I had exactly the same post count! What happened? :lmao: I'm jealous!!

All this talk of b-days had me smiling. :goodvibes I honestly thought I might be pretty depressed at 30, but it wasn't too bad. I do sometimes find myself almost replying 29 when someone asks me how old I am - it just seems I can't get used to the number!
I never remember how old I am. In a few months I can just add 40 to Joe's age(always know how old they are for now anyways) but adding 40 and subtracting 1 can be tough.:rotfl:

Alan has become addicted to Chocolate Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper. It's a limited edition and I don't know how long it's going to be around, so he's stockpiling!:rotfl:
Sounds nasty. I like real/fresh cherries but don't anything cherry flavored.

It was another rough day around here.
How frustrating! Hope you get it all settled tomorrow!

I see she answered that she is 23, which still doesn't make Kristine TRULY old enough to be her mother. ;)

We had a really nice evening with the boys! :) They all got along great and were very well behaved. We picked up one friend (he just lives across the way so it takes about 5 minutes to go get him) and the other 2 met us at the mall. TGI Fridays was fun. Really, really good service, OK food. The fried green beans were REALLY good. I can see those becoming an addiction for me. The boys liked it, so I think it was a good choice. All 4 of them ordered from the kids menu, which shocked me! We told them to order whatever they wanted. 2 of them skipped dessert! DH took them all to the restroom while I paid the bill, then we went to the movie. We bought the tickets before dinner, but we were running a bit later than I planned so the only row with 6 seats together was the VERY front. Not my favorite place to sit, but it was OK. I liked the movie! The boys all said they liked it, too. DH even stayed awake for the whole thing! (I am irritated that he stayed up so late since he has to work tomorrow, but he insisted.) So it went very well and everybody had a good time. :) I am really glad I encouraged DS to ask a few of his friends to come instead of just one. More like a party. :yay:
But I am. DH & I will celebrate our 24th anniversary this September.

Sounds like you had a great night!!!!

Thanks, Deb. It took quite a while for me to find a setting on my "new" camera that works well with fireworks. I just have never liked the looks of the pictures taken with the fireworks setting! But I have one called "high sensitivity" that seems to fit the bill for those as well as low-light situations where a flash ruins the look of the picture.
I just use automatic with the flash turned off.

Hello DDA
All is well in our house and everyone seems to be healthy again.
Glad you're all feeling better. Sorry for your loss.

Honestly, their books really are sufficient. I'm thinking about just going back and using plain layouts to get the vacation pictures at least PRINTED, then I can always just scrap when I can (not chronologically then, just about whatever) and when I have enough for a book - in a certain theme, or whatever - get it printed.

They really do have a TON of layouts though -- some where you can include text (either captions or full scrapbook-like journaling), some including full-bleed photos, dozens of other arrangements. They are a bit more expensive than some of the other sites, and don't have as many good promotions (theirs are often "Buy one get one free", which is a GREAT deal -- but only if you want to give one of the books away... it has to be 2 of the same), but I am impressed with the quality and the software to design the books, etc can't be beat (IMO).
Thanks!

So I got an itinerary from AKL IPO today. This is my 187 mark, not 180. Kind of strange. Kristine, have you ever worked with Jim? He is the contact on my e-mail.
Did it have confirmation numbers on it? It may be what they will be trying to get for you and just sent it to you before your 180 day mark for you to check it.

My morning started with my computer screen being wonky. I turned it on & my screen was sideways :confused3 Nothing I did would correct it, I was getting very frustrated! Gary went online & I guess it is a common problem with Dell laptops & found a way to fix it. I don't understand why it change in the 1st place.
:scared: That sounds frustrating!

And so it begins again...:rolleyes1

If anyone would be willing to grab one of these for me I would be ever so grateful! I'll probably be looking for help getting the May and November releases, too. Hopefully the August one will be released while we are at WDW.
I think I have discovered the drawback of going on one big trip instead of 3 shorter ones!:rotfl:
What are the other pins you are interested in? I like the Passholder AK 10 year anniversary one. It comes out in April-maybe they will still have it in May. When does the May pin you want come out?

I thought I'd try and share my latest endeavor, actually I started it a long time ago but just recently got back to finishing it. It is a powerpoint presentation of our 2006 family trip, I found a program, Camtasia Studio 5 that will record the presentation so that it can be made into a DVD. This is only part of it because the whole thing is too long for YouTube,

Hope this works.
That is SOOOOOOOO cool!!!! What a lot of work!

I just spent the last 2 or 3 hours going through schools' webpages around here and making a list of addresses/names to send my resumes too--whew!
:wizard: Good luck! Great idea to start on this now.

Here is the website with lots of photopass info. It also has the info on the preorder stuff.

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/photopass/
That was the site I used to to find the prepaid CD for my January trip. I couldn't for the life of me find on the photopass site and was happy to find the link still there.

So, have I mentioned that my grown up "crush" is Hugh Jackman? Seriously, he's so fine! Anyway, Alan knows all about my crush, and just kind of laughs it off. He just told me that he's been in contact with my cousin in London. Gone With The Wind is opening in London as a musical and guess who's playing Rhett Butler????? Yup, my Hugh!!!! Alan asked Shelley to get me a ticket to the show! That's my anniversary present! I'm seriously considering hanging around the stage door to get his autograph! Am I a dork, or what??? But what a great hubby, huh?
WOW! What a guy!!!!!

We made it home this morning at 11:30.

Thanks Bernadette for posting the link to the photopass pics. And thanks for all the responses on them everyone. I think there are some great shots. And as much as I hate my picture being taken it was nice to actually be in them. I am always the one taking pictures.
Welcome home.

Isn't that photopass site slow.:headache:

Jennifer - tell me how you first got started with the digital scrapbooking. Where did you learn how to do all the layouts, how did you decide which embellishments to download, etc? Are there sites out there with layout ideas that I can copy? I need S I M P L E. Any good tutorials that you used?

I like the idea of mypublisher. I might make a book for Bob for his bday.
You sound like me! Let me know if you find anything!

We took the kids skiing today.
Sounds like the kids had fun. Don't know how that mountain will stay in business. Don't they need to do well in the years with snow so they can "weather" the years with less snow?:confused3

I can't believe it's only 7.....it feels later

does anybody know if Giselle is out in the parks??

how hard is it to hem?? Since Cassidy is so short in the legs I need to learn to hem some pants.

four more random posts and then I can stop babbling:rotfl2:

It isn't real hard. You just sew a straight seam. If you are hemming it quite a bit, you cut off a lot of the extra. Then roll it twice (so there isn't a rough edge), iron and sew. If you are just hemming it slightly, you roll it up and iron it so it stays flat, then sew the straight seam. At least that is the way mom taught me.

ETA: I can't believe I'm giving you instructions on something that I haven't done in 23 years. My mom has done all my mending since the girls were born. :lmao:

Do you all give your kids gifts on Valentine's Day???

I picked up 2 lipgloss sets at Kmart after Christmas for the girls....that's all they will be getting.

Sometimes I wish Jim and I were more into the holidays...we are so not romantics.
