DDA Chapter 3

Did you guys see this? For P&PP -

ANNUAL PASSHOLDERS PRIORITY VIEWING OF FIREWORKS

Annual Passholders who purchase tickets for the February dates via the AP website can sign up for priority viewing of the "Magic, Music and Mayhem" fireworks. Check the AP website for this offer to appear.

Well, humph! I want priority firework viewing! I wonder if there will be parties in August, and if they will offer this again? Of course last year the party wasn't crowded and we sat right on Main St. near the hub for fireworks.

I want this for March when I'm going to be there! :lmao:

Evening DDA, just a quick pop in..

We made it home this morning at 11:30. We stopped for the night in NC and had about a 4 hr drive this morning.

We've spent the day getting laundry done, suitcases put away, and reclaiming the house. I've also managed to get through some of our photopass pictures and add borders and such. Eric copied our pictures to the desktop and I'm trying to weed through those as well. Life returns to normal tomorrow, which I've decided isn't such a bad thing. I miss our routines.

Thanks Bernadette for posting the link to the photopass pics. And thanks for all the responses on them everyone. I think there are some great shots. And as much as I hate my picture being taken it was nice to actually be in them. I am always the one taking pictures.

I need to give Lucy her bath and get her down for bed as well as Emma and Molly. I will check in with you all tomorrow. Have a great night!:goodvibes

Robyn, I love the picture of the girls in your signature. They look so gorgeous!!! The dresses are just perfect!

Tammi - I am glad Alyssa is doing better!
DS has no interest in football, which is good because he is so tiny! He is eligible to play lacrosse but that gets too rough!:scared: I prefer less dangerous sports, like golf and tennis! Of course there aren't any facilities to play golf or tennis that are close and not affiliated with country clubs or other "membership" places. So we'll see how the baseball thing goes.
He went to a camp at the high school last summer, and the coach said they are doing it again this year so we'll sign him up for that. The coach calls DS "Smalls" (from the Sand Lot) and the other boys call him "Little Man". We went to that breakfast yesterday. The restaurant is owned by a couple whose son plays high school baseball. Anyway, I was chatting with the wife when we came in and it was obvious she couldn't work out that DS was in middle school.:rotfl2: I am pretty sure she thought he was elementary. The high school players were doing all of the serving and bussing the tables, and they are all MUCH, MUCH bigger than DS.
Nicholas is little too. Not short, but skinny. I have heard that the biggest thing that kids need to get used to when they start playing is hitting and tackling their friends. They want to take it easy on them. I would love for him to play football and be good at it. He is fast so hopefully that will help.

Yep, Alyssa is doing better. She had TWO grilled cheese sandwiches. I guess she's making up for everything that she expelled yesterday. :rotfl:

Glynis, that is very cool that you're going to see Hugh perform and you may get to meet him! Way to go Alan! :thumbsup2

I talked Kevin into going to two Bon Jovi concerts back in 2003, but I was unable to convince Kev to help me get Jon's autograph. :rotfl:

And, I'm still waiting for my opportunity to meet Rick(y) Schroder.

I'm so pathetic! I'm seriously considering starting a red folder for Hugh!!!

I have all the X-men DVD's, Kate and Leopold, and a couple of others that I don't let Alan watch. They are for me alone. I watch them when I'm all alone in the house! I think it's safe to say I might be a little over the top when it comes to him!

(Somehow, I think you, of all people, will understand this!)

I have to try this! It sounds so easy but yummy.

Once you try it, you'll never make pot roast any other way! It's just so simple and flavorful! I like to add potatoes and carrots to the crockpot as well. I add them on top, so they don't soak up too much of the gravy on the bottom.

I aspire to take photos like that one day. My fireworks photos just come out blurry. I'm pretty sure it is just my skills and not the camera.:teacher:
Thanks! Image stabilization does help.

Me, too!! Your pics are always so incredible! I have agreed to let DH buy a tripod, but I don't know if he is looking at a Gorilla pod or a regular one. :confused3
Those Fast Pass pins are very difficult to find! DS will be greatly impressed when I tell him Joe has Everest!

DS is not a happy camper. He has that band thing next week and he announced this morning that he needed me to sign this form. So he pulled it out and it says he has to stay after school Wednesday and Thursday until 5 PM. Wednesday is his birthday! The form also says he needs black shoes. The only black shoes he has are Disney Crocs. And I really don't want to buy black shoes that he will wear ONCE. AND the form says there will be performances by the orchestra, choir, and the band. We are SO going to have to take separate cars.:sad2: By the time they get through all that stuff PLUS Science Fair awards PLUS a PTA meeting it will be midnight! :scared:
Thanks! Tell your DH to be sure to get a pivot head or whatever it is called. I got a nice relatively light weight tripod but I cann't position the camera the way I want on it. I think I can just buy a new (or additional) head for it. If you DH doesn't have image stabilization on his camera he will need a real tripod for shots like the castle. The gorilla pod worked for when I could put it on a fence or something but I used it mostly as a hand hold.

Hope you all survive your week!

On the left side right where my Kidney is I have a constant ache and occasional spasms. I thought Sat. night that my back was about to go out on me. But the pain is on left sided. I also had some pain in the groin area on Sat. night as well. Yesterday I was feeling a little better after a shower and having taken 2 Darvocet to go to sleep with Sat. night and sleeping on an icepack. I did not drink much yesterday and it was mostly soda sad to say. I took some Aleve yesterday and it helped some. I did not do the icepack last night and when I got up this morning the spasms were worse. I took one Darvocet around 8 am because the spasms were so bad. I have an appt. to see a Dr. not mine as she was booked but another one in the office at 2:20.
:wizard: Hope it clears up soon and isn't anything too serious.

Have great Mondays, DDA!
:wizard: Hope your Monday is better than last week's Tuesday!:wizard:

Thanks guys! :teeth:
Congratulations!

Yep, Alyssa is doing better. She had TWO grilled cheese sandwiches. I guess she's making up for everything that she expelled yesterday. :rotfl:

Glad she's feeling better!

Do you all give your kids gifts on Valentine's Day???

I picked up 2 lipgloss sets at Kmart after Christmas for the girls....that's all they will be getting.

Sometimes I wish Jim and I were more into the holidays...we are so not romantics.

Alan and I give the kids a small heart shaped box of chocolates. I make a pink breakfast, and then we do something special for dinner. I'm thinking of doing heart shaped pizzas this year. I also think I'll break out the chocolate fountain the kids got me for my birthday as a special Valentine's Day treat.

For breakfast, I make pancake batter with pureed berries so they're slightly pink, I make them heart shaped. I serve them with strawberry or raspberry syrup, strawberry milk or berry smoothies. The kids love it! I also make a Valentine's Day snack mix to pack in their lunch boxes. It's simple! I mix a package of Chocolate teddy grahams, yogurt covered raisins, dried cranberries, and honey roasted peanuts or cashews. Mix and divide it up in baggies. It's a fun treat for the kids halfway through the day!

Bernadette - I *thought* DH's new camera had image stabilization, but it does NOT.:sad2: If I had realized that it didn't have it I might have suggested that DH wait to buy a dSLR. Or I might have INSISTED that he wait. He was not happy with the shots from the December trip, and I worry that he is starting to regret the purchase. He reads on the photo forum but most of those people have Canons and Nikons. He does read his books on digital photography and exposure but I don't know that he is really practicing with the camera to see if he can get the results he wants. I am just waiting for him to announce that he needs a better camera.

Just cut the extra length off and mail it my way. LOL

Hemming pants is relatively easy, the hard part is making sure both legs are the same length.;) I hemmed loads of pants in Tau Beta Sigma, for Marching Band. All of the pants were like 38 inch inseam and unhemmed. TBS kept all 300 members of the Marching Band in proper length pants. The worst was when the brand new uniforms came in and we had less then a week to fit uniforms and hem pants for everyone in the band, as they wanted to use the new uniforms for the last football game of the year. Twenty of us in TBS hemming divided by 300 pairs of pants equals many pairs in a short time because some cannot hem. Why the pants did not come with snaps like the jackets I do not know.

Those pants were a pain in the butt to hem because they were majorly tapered, we could not cut them off because someone might need the length later and some people needed them hemmed more then 10 inches up the leg.

Pants are relatively easy to hem, it's skirts that have a curve to them that are a pain!!! That's when I go to my sister! She loves to sew, and I don't. I figure I'm doing her a favor, letting her do what she likes, right?

Well, it looks like I will be staying home tomorrow. Alyssa has a stomach bug of some sort. Not diarrhea but very loose. Twice she didn't make it in time today and she just woke up having to go again. So I'll keep her home tomorrow. I'd hate for her to have a oops at school. No other symptoms though. Must have been something she ate. She had popcorn shrimp last night when we went out to dinner. I don't know if that could have done it or not, but it's the only thing different that the rest of us didn't have.

Were the shrimp quite greasy? That's what does it to my girls. Too much grease and things get quite loose!

I hope it's not a tummy bug! Tell her to feel better from me!

I don't think so. I don't think that it mattered anyway. She picks the breading off and just eats the shrimp. Thanks!

Bernadette - That 10th Anniversary AK pin is cool! But it is a very low edition size. I hope you can find one!
I see they are coming out with about 9 different 4 pin sets that are $20 each. Hopefully people will buy those as traders! $5 per pin is better than $7, and no questions about authenticity. The Disney Store is really digging their heels in with their pins. None of them have been marked down since Christmas!

On our last day we went into the babycare center to change Lucy and I had to buy some formula. There were 2 people a head of me and as I stood there I realized that the one mom that was talking to the CM was giving info about her lost son. My heart went up in my throat. She was sooo calm. Thankfully, another CM came in with her little boy. Apparently they got separated in front of the castle and was found all the way over by Space Mtn. He was about Molly's age.

And then when we were in line at Haunted Mansion, about 10 minutes after we left the babycare center, we heard a couple of people calling out a boy's name and giving a description to some CM's. As we reached the top of the queue a CM was walking through the line with the little boy. Again he was about Molly's age.

My kids think getting lost at DL is the best thing ever! We always talk about what to do if we get separated, so they know who to look for. We've only ever lost a kid once. Jacob got separated, did what we told him to do (find a CM, give him the card that has Alan's cell phone # on it), and the CM took him to the lost child center. They called us and within 10 minutes we were reunited! He was having a ball in the center. They had given him a stuffed Dopey, and he was watching movies with 3 CM's catering to him. They got him lemonade and chocolate chip cookies. I think he would have stayed there all day.

Deb and Glynis,
what are the symptoms you experience when you get a kidney stone?

Pain in your lower back on the side. An increased feeling like you need to go to the bathroom when you don't. The pain doesn't go away, no matter how many Tylenol you take.

Think you've got one? Don't wait, go to the dr. now!

hey Tia how was your day?

Didn't make it to here last night, but my day was okay yesterday. I didn't make it to church as Phil and I got into an argument over something and next thing I knew, it was too late. It got better though. We grilled steak and chicken (yum!) for lunch as it was really nice yesterday. I was going to take Terra to the park, but forgot to grab her shoes when we left to take Phil to see his friend at a concert. So, instead we ended up just playing at the McDonald's play area.

Well, if the housekeeper doesn't arrive in about 5 minutes she will be waiting outside until I get home with Princess. It's not THAT cold out, but it certainly isn't very pleasant! Last week she wasn't feeling very well, so I wonder if she isn't coming today?

Tammi, Chanon, etc -- you can probably get by with just Photoshop Elements, which I believe is under $200. I got that first, then got photoshop for Christmas the year after because I was doing more with photography, etc. I've seen some nice stuff done with just elements, though! It's certainly WAY more inclusive than other programs available.
