DDA Chapter 3

Couldn't you make Chuck's shirt and have your Mom help you with the button holes?

That's the plan. However, the shirts he likes requires lots of pieces as well so I need some practice with the easy stuff first.

Elin - Great pictures! I'm homesick now. :(

Jennifer - Wonderful scrapbook!!! you did an excellent job.

Tammi I hope that Alyssa is feeling better today.

Sounds like you got a lot done for a lazy day.

Yes he is!

We have a couple of the others.

Couldn't you make Chuck's shirt and have your Mom help you with the button holes?

My machine has a button hole function and a special foot that you put the button on one side and it makes the hole to exactly fit the button. Super easy.

Oooooo they not be cheap. They cheapest was $70 square but we got the $100 rectangle so Joe could have a character put on it too-he chose a 2008 logo with the characters. I had gotten the Leave a Legacy with Lizzy for her 7th birthday trip and planned on doing that for Joe & Emma-that was $25 BUT they stopped doing it. I had to do something and Deb had mentioned these cubes when she sadly broke one. I think she paid A LOT less. I had already told Joe we could do it before I found out how much they were but they really are PRICELESS! Unlike the Leave a Legacy it is something we will ALWAYS have (as long as noone drops it) and something we can see everyday. I don't know how much it costs to do 2 or 4 heads. They have even bigger cubes that can do lots of heads.

SO...when we went home we stopped in the Seaworld giftshop at the airport and they had Joe's size cube with dolphins in it. I asked the clerk how much and she said $4.95. I figured it was plastic so I picked it up but it was glass and the same weight as Joe's cube. BUT it was mass produced and not a 3D image of his cute little face.;)

I think we only paid a little less than that 5 years ago. I want to say we paid $250 for 3 square cubes and the light up base. They are so cute though. We will probably have a new one made this year although I'm not sure which style. I can't replace the one of Colby as a baby though. Now I look at it as a piece of art, like a statue with pieces missing :rotfl2:

Off to start the day...:scared1: It's gonna be a rough one around here I'm sure.
:wizard: Hope it's not too bad.

Bernadette I love the castle and firework pics

Congrats on 6,000 posts
Thanks!

Bernadette, love your trip report. Joe looks like he had a WONDERFUL birthday at the Magic Kingdom!
Thank You. Yes he did!

Bernadette,
Great TR! Joe certainly did have a nice birthday.
What time did you do the CP breakfast..sounds like you got alot done that morning at MK.
Thanks! Our ADR was for 10:05. It was an early entry morning and the crowds weren't too bad even after the park opened. Even after breakfast they weren't too bad.

We got Daniel's school bill..they raised his tuition another $500.:scared: :sad2:
 We will be sending Emma to the tuition based full day Kindergarten program next year. I was surprised they kept the tuition at $2,400 as most towns around here that charge charge $3,000 for the full day program. It is actually less than we are paying for her preschool now.

Me too. Your camera takes such great photos. Or maybe it is just you! It really sounds like you two had a wonderful time.
Thanks! I used a gorilla pod tripod on the railing for the Imagination waterfall photo but pretty much all the others were just hand held. I do put the gorilla pod on the camera and use that as an extra hand hold.

Bernadette love your TR & pictures. Garrett said that you take great castle photos, I agree!

Theresa & Bernadette congratulations on your personal milestones!
Thanks to both of you!

I looked up photosphop and it was $600 and something for CS3! :scared1: Evidently that is way more than I need.
Photoshop elements is under $100.

Bernadette, love the picture of the Clydesdale.
We saw a few and I always said forget the trolley or the carriage, and let me just ride the horse.
Thanks. Maybe should try horseback riding at Ft Wilderness sometime. I'll have to upload another photo for you at home.

I downloaded the free 30 day trial from www.freedigitalscrapbooking.com or to make things easier, click here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ and Photoshop 6 is at the bottom right. This is what I've been using for the last day and a half and it seems simple (after watching a tutorial from the first site above!) :rotfl:
It took about 1/2 hour to download for me.
I'll have to try out those tutorials.

Bernadette, congrats on 6000 :cool1:
Thanks!

He will be in this school til 9th grade & we have been talking about getting him into a NYC H.S. (like Bronx HS of Science) because the kids that graduate from school like that go on to very good colleges (with scholarships) but this would require us to be "city" residents so a move may be in our future.:confused3 But it would not require a tuition.
:wizard: Good luck with those decisions but I guess you have a few years. I'm sure they will fly by though.

your probably right they have dates out thru aug 3rd
I understand your frustration. I didn't think Jet Blue would ever release May dates and then they went right through August so I ended up booking 7 flights (Emma & I for May, and all 5 of us in August) all on one day. At least my Jet Blue Amex card was offering bonus points when I put that charge through.

That's the plan. However, the shirts he likes requires lots of pieces as well so I need some practice with the easy stuff first.
I'm sure it will come back to you quick. I bet you'll find his shirt easy as the pieces will be bigger and easier to work with.

I have that button hole foot too.

I didn't buy the base. That was a fair amount extra but I can't remember now how much. They had bases in the Sea World gift shop that were cheaper. I may do that someday.

We headed for the front of the castle to find a good spot for Wishes. We got a spot nice and close. Almost too close as we couldn't see all the fireworks as some of them fell behind the castle. We met a nice couple from France who took a great photo for us. The crowds were down right scary as we left. I was happy I had gotten Joe a stroller as I think he was lot safer in there. He fell asleep in the stroller as I walked down Main St but was a trooper walking the long way to the Pop bus stop. We had to wait about 20 to 30 minutes for a bus but by the time we got on the bus the line was literally out of sight.:scared1: We were both exhausted. I was too tired to pack. I would say Joe had a magical birthday!!!

I aspire to take photos like that one day. My fireworks photos just come out blurry. I'm pretty sure it is just my skills and not the camera.:teacher:

Deb and Glynis,
what are the symptoms you experience when you get a kidney stone?

I get a pressure like feeling, kind of like I have to go though I've just been. I also get a lower back pain. This is usually followed by a UTI which I can detect purely by the fowl smell of the urine and the very dark color. I hope that you are not getting one as they are horrible. Drink lots of water and try to flush it out. There is also an over the counter med for UTIs which helps to numb the urinary tract and let it relax to help relieve symptoms.

Deb - I'm glad that at least Colby had a good skiing day. Sorry you had so many problems.

Sorry the ski season is turning out to be a bust!:guilty:

Sounds like you had a great night!!!!

Did it have confirmation numbers on it? It may be what they will be trying to get for you and just sent it to you before your 180 day mark for you to check it.

What are the other pins you are interested in? I like the Passholder AK 10 year anniversary one. It comes out in April-maybe they will still have it in May. When does the May pin you want come out?

We did have a really good time!
Yep. Confirmation #s for 2 dinners and the Sunrise Safari. The Yak & Yeti dinner is the only one they don't have for me yet, and that is a Landry restaurant.
I haven't looked at the others yet. They usually release the puzzle pieces on the 15th, so I would think the 15th of May. I got the Epcot 25th anniversary one last year. I was shocked that they still had some left!

Do you all give your kids gifts on Valentine's Day???

I picked up 2 lipgloss sets at Kmart after Christmas for the girls....that's all they will be getting.

Sometimes I wish Jim and I were more into the holidays...we are so not romantics.

I'll probably give DS a card with some Disney Dollars. :)

I am glad that the webmasters didn't hide the people that had large posting numbers!!:rotfl2:

I have been blessed in knowing this family for the past few years. I look forward to many more years and posts.

Congrats, Theresa!

He is cute Vicki! I guess he has found an adoptive family in yours. How does your dog like him?

He looks very playful! Much like Arabella! How old is he? Arabella will be a year old in the next month or so.
Vicki, if you are still looking for a home for your Star Wars toy let me know! DS has a bunch of action figures and ships so he would probably welcome another piece for his collection. He has a 1970's Luke that Uncle1 bought for him from eBay. Uncle1 also gave him some ships from his own collection so DS has a pretty impressive array of stuff.

Well, it looks like I will be staying home tomorrow. Alyssa has a stomach bug of some sort. Not diarrhea but very loose. Twice she didn't make it in time today and she just woke up having to go again. So I'll keep her home tomorrow. I'd hate for her to have a oops at school. No other symptoms though. Must have been something she ate. She had popcorn shrimp last night when we went out to dinner. I don't know if that could have done it or not, but it's the only thing different that the rest of us didn't have.

I hope she feels better today! :wizard:

Bernadette loving the trip report

Me, too!! Your pics are always so incredible! I have agreed to let DH buy a tripod, but I don't know if he is looking at a Gorilla pod or a regular one. :confused3
Those Fast Pass pins are very difficult to find! DS will be greatly impressed when I tell him Joe has Everest!

When we were at the bus stop that night there was lost little girl-about 4 or 5. I think her family might have gotten on a bus without her. It was so sad. There was a Mom with her and they were looking a CM. The poor little thing was so scared.:sad2:

OMG! :scared1: I hope they didn't leave her at the park all alone! How horrible!

We got Daniel's school bill..they raised his tuition another $500.:scared: :sad2:

Ouch! :headache:

DS is not a happy camper. He has that band thing next week and he announced this morning that he needed me to sign this form. So he pulled it out and it says he has to stay after school Wednesday and Thursday until 5 PM. Wednesday is his birthday! The form also says he needs black shoes. The only black shoes he has are Disney Crocs. And I really don't want to buy black shoes that he will wear ONCE. AND the form says there will be performances by the orchestra, choir, and the band. We are SO going to have to take separate cars.:sad2: By the time they get through all that stuff PLUS Science Fair awards PLUS a PTA meeting it will be midnight! :scared:

Momboss didn't leave me a note this morning so I don't have anything to do.:rolleyes1 I do need to drop some things off for her later today, but my morning is wide open.

On the left side right where my Kidney is I have a constant ache and occasional spasms. I thought Sat. night that my back was about to go out on me. But the pain is on left sided. I also had some pain in the groin area on Sat. night as well. Yesterday I was feeling a little better after a shower and having taken 2 Darvocet to go to sleep with Sat. night and sleeping on an icepack. I did not drink much yesterday and it was mostly soda sad to say. I took some Aleve yesterday and it helped some. I did not do the icepack last night and when I got up this morning the spasms were worse. I took one Darvocet around 8 am because the spasms were so bad. I have an appt. to see a Dr. not mine as she was booked but another one in the office at 2:20.

Good morning :)

Robyn glad to hear you all made it home safely. Hope today is not to hectic for you!

Deb sorry the skiing did not happen as planned. Sounds like the boys still had a good time though.

Bernadette love your TR & pictures. Garrett said that you take great castle photos, I agree!

Tammi hope Alyssa is feeling better today.

Debbie great job on the video!

Anne Marie sorry about the raise in tuition cost.

Amy, yea on Matthew sleeping through the night!

Theresa & Bernadette congratulations on your personal milestones!

:wizard: & to all I have missed!

Thanks for a great recap, Janet! I'm just going to say "ditto"! :thumbsup2

Have great Mondays, DDA!

Jennifer - I hope your back feels better soon! :wizard:

Chanon - Congrats!! :thumbsup2

DS wants to play baseball so I am starting to look for a team for him. He can't play on the school team until next year. The high school coach said 6th graders can't play because of UIL rules, which I didn't realize. Then again, up until 2 years ago 6th graders were in the elementary so it makes sense. There didn't used to BE 6th graders in Middle School.
I know I can go to the Y and sign him up on any team that has room, but I am hoping to find a team with kids from his school. We shall see what I can come up with!

Our MS are 6th, 7th and 8th too. Do you have a city or county Parks and Rec dept? That is where I always sign Nicholas up. He will do soccer again starting in March. Then in the fall he wants to play football. I know in July they have a week long football camp, so I think we will start with that and see how he likes it.

Alyssa has had oatmeal and it has stayed in her. Now she is eating a grilled cheese sandwich. She feels and acts fine, so I know it isn't a virus. I guess something she ate didn't agree with her.

After reading the TRs, looking at the pictures and playing the Magic Kingdom board game with Alyssa - I sooooo want to go back to WDW!!!.

Jennifer - I hope you don't have a stone. Feel better!

There is soccer and baseball through the Chamber of Commerce, which is what the high school coach recommended. There are also 2 YMCAs that I can check. DS played a couple of seasons of Y soccer and one of T-ball when he was younger and still in private school. The thing is that Y isn't all that close to the school where he goes now, so I am not sure how likely we would be to find other kids from his school on those teams. :confused3 DH is worried about putting him on a team where the other boys have played together for a long time - he doesn't want DS to feel left out. I think if we can find a team of other boys from our school then it won't be THAT horrible to join in.

Tammi - I am glad Alyssa is doing better!
DS has no interest in football, which is good because he is so tiny! He is eligible to play lacrosse but that gets too rough!:scared: I prefer less dangerous sports, like golf and tennis! Of course there aren't any facilities to play golf or tennis that are close and not affiliated with country clubs or other "membership" places. So we'll see how the baseball thing goes.
He went to a camp at the high school last summer, and the coach said they are doing it again this year so we'll sign him up for that. The coach calls DS "Smalls" (from the Sand Lot) and the other boys call him "Little Man". We went to that breakfast yesterday. The restaurant is owned by a couple whose son plays high school baseball. Anyway, I was chatting with the wife when we came in and it was obvious she couldn't work out that DS was in middle school.:rotfl2: I am pretty sure she thought he was elementary. The high school players were doing all of the serving and bussing the tables, and they are all MUCH, MUCH bigger than DS.

Did you guys see this? For P&PP -

ANNUAL PASSHOLDERS PRIORITY VIEWING OF FIREWORKS

Annual Passholders who purchase tickets for the February dates via the AP website can sign up for priority viewing of the "Magic, Music and Mayhem" fireworks. Check the AP website for this offer to appear.

Well, humph! I want priority firework viewing! I wonder if there will be parties in August, and if they will offer this again? Of course last year the party wasn't crowded and we sat right on Main St. near the hub for fireworks.
