Things are not so happy here today. Bob was laid off at work yesterday. It came out of the blue at the end of his completion of a huge project. It is also due to the company-wide loss of a national homebuilder's business. To say he is devastated is such an understatement. In the 39 years he has been in the workforce since college, he has never been laid off. He has lost his job before because of corporate takeovers, etc. But to be told he was the one they could "do without" more easily than any of the other designers that are left has been crushing to him.
Not sure where we go from here. He has to go into work later this morning to talk to corporate HR and they will discuss the package his boss insisted they put together for him.
My biggest concern at this point is the loss of all our insurance. My greatest happiness in all of this is that our daughters are not directly impacted by it.

The bread's ready (YUM! Thanks again for the recipe, Vicki, we love it!!) so guess I'd better get to Aldi before they close.
That's wonderful. I hope you can make it work. And I hope it coincides with when we are there! My husband is Disney crazy. My friends and family think that I am the Disneyaholic. Little do they know. Last night while I was driving home and talking with him, he said we need to review our budget while I'm home this week-end. Why, you want to know? Because he wants to see if we have enough for a vacation. When, you ask? December. And where would this vacation take place? Where else but Walt Disney World.
You just have to love a man like that! I don't know if we'll actually be able to make it in December. However, he says we have been getting a lot of Disney propoganda which has him thinking about how wonderful Disney when decorated for Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Thanks for all the good thoughts, everyone. They mean a lot to both of us. We were feeling a little better today after Bob went in and met with HR and got the details of all of this. They are being very generous and, although insurance will have to be COBRA, I think we will be OK for a while.
However, about 2 hours ago Kristin called me to tell me that her bank had been robbed.![]()
She is still with the police. I am so glad the stupid people who did this chose a Friday night since she is there alone M-Th. She just texted her Dad to say the police might have caught the two suspects. I hope that is true.
What a helluva a couple of days!
Elin,, I'm so sorry to hear this. You'll definitely be in my prayers.
Richie has been taking his cutback pretty hard, he was moved from management back to craft and the pay is significantly less. He's threatened to quit more than once, I finally told him that if he did he would find himself single again. The cutback was not his doing but quitting would be. I've been bugging him to find out about our insurance, he was under the impression that things would automatically move to the new coverage, well after taking matters in my own hands today I found that we had no coverage, thankfully I was able to get it straightened out but it's going to take up to four weeks before we get our new cards for prescriptions and doctor visits.
I hope that things work out even better for you in the end.

I'm so happy that another family gets to enjoy something that is very special to our family.
