DDA Chapter 26

Deb -I was sitting here yesterday wishing some of our old DDA friends would come back and post too. I think with the changes in everyone's lives we will have fewer posts than we used to. It was inevitable. However... it doesn't take but a few moments to get on here and say, "Hi!" I wish more of them did it.

I know, just a quick hello goes a long way.

This is the weekend from ... well, you know where! This afternoon and evening as well as tomorrow morning we have our Yamaha audition concerts. And Sunday it is time (already) for the 19th annual Downtown Retail Merchants Open House. Seems like we just did that!!

I will try my best to get on here and say, "Hi!" ;)

:wizard: I hope it passes by quickly

Good morning, DDA!

Debbie - I'm sorry this will be your last trip for awhile. I certainly understand the feeling. :( It's tough when you have to make that decision. Hopefully Richie's cutbacks will be shortlived and you'll be able to return sooner rather than later. Enjoy your last day!!!

Elin - How is it open house weekend already? Good luck with your busy weekend.

I agree, Deb and Elin, I miss some of our earlier friends too. I know life is busy and our thread changes titles from time to time, but I'd love to have more check ins from time to time.

Yesterday was a better day. My charge still had a number of issues, but was at least a little calmer while acting out. I also changed my attitude in handling of it and hope we made some progress. I'm really trying to take out of my reaction anything that she could find funny or as attention getting to help curb repeat actions. It seemed to help some, but we still had a number of time outs. Today, though, has been much better all ready, knock on wood!

This weekend is a nice relaxing one with not much going on. Terra has a birthday party tomorrow evening and we're going to try and get some Christmas shopping or at least browsing done.

I hope she doesn't regress over the weekend

Good afternoon!

Just came back from grocery shopping. $50 in coupons!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

That is amazing. You go girl:cool1:

Debbie, We are looking forward to seeing you and Richie at WDW again in the future. I hope his workload picks up again soon! :wizard:

Tia, good luck with your charge!

I had lunch with Marci last weekend. It was good to see her. She is doing OK. Her surgery is slated for Monday.

Nothing scandalous to report. :rolleyes1

Did she mention how the node biopsy turned out? I'm hoping that one surgery is in her future rather than multiple with who knows what treatment between

Bernadette, high school is good. Today was the last day of the 2nd marking period, so we're 1/3 of the way finished with freshman year!
DS has a show coming up in December (it's a 10 minute play festival, and he is in one of the 10 minute scenes). He has an audition Dec. 6 for a big show that would open at the end of January.
He LOVES his school, has made lots of new friends. He still has trouble staying organized. Pretty sure that is permanent.

I'm glad things are going well. Hunter is struggling with organization this year too. I need to get him some locker shelves for him to keep his locker better organized with subjects always in the same place as well as being neat.

Becky, how fun that you got to go to the new NYC Disney Store! Our new store opened a couple of weeks ago in the mall near my house. It is nice. The CM's are all super friendly. :)

I want a Disney Store :sad2:

Yes!! Now we just have to wait for it to get here. The first 2 days we are going to Universal, staying at the Hard Rock. The kids don't know about that yet. ;) Then we are going to WDW for 7 nights, staying at the Boardwalk. I'm waitlisted for the first 3 nights at AKL, but if we don't get it, that's fine. We are eating at some new restaurants this trip, too. Plus we have one meal scheduled with Elin and crew! :goodvibes Can't wait!

That sounds awesome:goodvibes

I found a wine tonight that is tailor made for us Disney lovers:

Besides looking so spiffy, it was nice little sparkling wine! :goodvibes

Very cool:thumbsup2

It's a day late, and a little grainy, but...

My Dad (he wasn't even 21 years old yet!) is second from the left.

DADDYWWII_crop.jpg

This was in our hometown newspaper yesterday.

We don't have another trip in the works either. We are trying to pay off all debts with my new income. We do have annual passes and would love to do a trip in April, but the airfare is ridiculous for april vacation. If we found amazing airfare we would do a very budget trip, otherwise it will just be some camping over the summer. We are planning to save for a big vacation in 2012

Colby lost a tooth today. He and Hunter had their first day home, just the two of them. They did very well:thumbsup2

Nick got his first report card for High School. He had warned me that he was only going to get a B+ in Advanced Bio as he got a B+ on the last test. He was very surprised to have an A- in that class. He got straight A's in the other 3 subjects. His GPA is 3.918. We are so happy that he had such a good transition to High School. He's made friends, Has a girlfriend, taken advanced class and still maintained straight A's.

We started our Christmas Shopping tonight. My mother got a 30% off coupon there plus 15% for completing the online survey. We ended up saving more than twice as much as we spent because of the regular sale, doorbusters and additional discounts. We may actually pick a few more things up tomorrow. I got a 30% off at Kohls and was able to find a few things there plus I got $20 in Kohl's cash to use next week and the 30% will still be valid.

I need to hit Sears on Sunday night. They are running their friends and family sale which is the same as their Black Friday sale minus the door busters, but they give an extra 10% off on Sunday night to boot. We need a new washer, dryer and dishwasher so I will be there very early to get the fabulous deals

Sounds like you and the boys (and your Mom too) had a busy, event-filled day!

Tammi, beware of Hard Rock placing holds on your credit card!!! They had $500 of DH's credit card locked up even though our room was paid in full at check-in and we only owed $50 at check-out. It took almost a week for the holds to drop off - I was LIVID. Also, when you charge back to the room you have a $100 limit, not $1500 like at WDW. We charged lunch at the park, then our room key was declined at dinner because we had maxed it out. SO embarrassing! :headache:

Elin, nifty photo! :thumbsup2

Deb, I think a big part of DS's issue is having 9 classes, plus rehearsals. He can only juggle a finite number of things, then other things go by the wayside. He gets mad when I hound, and he gets mad when I say I am going to let him crash and burn. Mostly I hound.

Unfortunately, Marci's node biopsy was positive. They will need to do some more checking before they determine what they can do in terms of reconstruction during Monday's surgery. They are hoping they can still complete everything in one procedure.

Good morning. :)

Sounds like all the high schoolers are doing well! I hope Nicholas' transition to middle school goes as smoothly next year!

Thanks for the update on Marci, Elizabeth, as well as the heads up on HRH. I wonder if I can get away with NOT putting a CC number on file and just using my card, instead of my room key.

Elin, what a nice little tribute to your dad. Had you seen that picture before?

I had my house powerwashed yesterday. I have no idea if it looks good or not. It's dark when I leave in the morning, and it's dark when I get home at night. I'll have to wait until Monday morning to inspect it. Hope he doesn't expect payment before then.

Good Morning,
We are packing up to leave today, we'll spend a few hours at Studios before heading out to Tallahassee for the evening.

Richie chose our day yesterday, we ended up hitting our favorites in all four parks, needless to say I'm beat.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning,

I woke uo to an ocular migraine...lovely. No headache yet just the wavy lines in my eyes. Oh fun fun!

We have bowling on tap for today & a trip to the library. I just started both "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" & "Backseat Saints". Both seem pretty good so far. No Christmas shopping today as I will have my kiddos with me. I remember when they were small sitting in the top of the shopping cart. I could distract them for a moment & put stuff in the bottom of the cart & they wouldn't even know...oh i miss those days!;)

Deb,
I do not think we will be at WDW next year either but am planning for a summer trip in 2012. Sounds like you & the family are as busy as ever. Hope you are liking your new job.

Elin,
Wow what a cool photo!!

Debbie,
Safe travels!

Elizabeth,
Thanks for the update on Marci. She has been in my thoughts & prayers this week. Please give her my regards when you speak with her again.

Tammi,
Getting dark so early now stinks..we all like DST better here

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Tammi - want me to do a drive-by looksee?? ;)
I had seen the photo of my Dad (his best friends are in it with him) once before, but it has been a very long time. It was delightful to get the email from my brother. His childhood best friend sent it to him. :goodvibes

Elizabeth - thanks for letting us know Marci's situation. She continues to be in my thoughts constantly.

Debbie - enjoy your last few hours at the World today. Safe travels.

Anne Marie - I am so sorry that you have a migraine. Those are NOT fun. Hard to see things in their correct perspective.

morning all. at work in the A/P unit so it is nice so far. my 2 patients are still sleeping.

Well we took my van in this morning because I felt something wrong with my brakes....So the back brake fluid is leaking & there are no pads on any of the brakes. Right now they say $700 unless they find anything else. :scared:

okay Jeff is going to get the Christmas stuff out of the attic then I am headed to bed. Work tomorrow 8hrs then home to supervise the Christmas tree going up.
I told DH we should put our tree up next weekend before my surgery. I don't think it would get up if we don't.

Thanks for the update. Continued prayers for Marci.

Sounds like the perfect day. I hope I'm up for 4 parks in 1 day in May. I've done 3 many times but haven't hit 4 yet.

I woke uo to an ocular migraine...lovely. No headache yet just the wavy lines in my eyes. Oh fun fun!
Yuck! I had one a few years ago and my eye doctor said it was "age related hormonal issues".

How fun for a 50th at Disney in Feb with your Mom too! I'll be celebrating my 50th:scared1: there in May (just a week after my actual bday).

I had posted another post yesterday but had lost internet connection on my laptop. I've tried shutting the laptop down, checking all the plugs on my router, shutting off the router but still can't get it back. Not sure what I'll do in bed for 2 weeks without the internet. I haven't tried shutting down my desktop yet. Hoping it comes back soon. Not sure where to go for help.

Yesterday I delivered my MIL her Christmas gift. A new TV. Her's isn't working at all and I figured it would be better to get it to her and get it all set up while I can then wait for Christmas. She won't mind opening up just a pot holder on Christmas day.

Then I sorted through all the kids stuff (box for each kid) so DH could take care of it if I'm not up for it Christmas Eve and to be sure everyone was all set. I don't count exact number of gifts or try to spend the same exact amount on the kids but I do try to make it "feel" somewhat equitable. Emma's gifts seem to lack the "WOW" of Joe & Lizzy's but I really think she'll love them so I'm not sure there is much I can do at this point. I got Lizzy a Nintendo, Joe night vision binoculars and digital voice recorder and Emma Schleich toys and Lego plane. I know she'll love the plane-we've never had a Lego set that big before. Then I got each kid a Nintendo game and Wii game. Emma should love the 2 I picked out for her. AND...I got other Wii stuff as a group gift so I think they'll all be happy Christmas morning......

I still hope to make a few things this weekend and next and want to order 1 more thing for DH from LL Bean with a gift card. I have to pick up some chocolate coins for the stockings. I also have to order Christmas cards so I can work on those while on bed rest. All & all I would have to say I'm really pretty well set for Christmas. Except for my house which needs a lot of cleaning attention as I haven't done much in the past few months.....

Hi there!

Elin...what a special picture!!

Debbie...I know what you mean, not sure how soon we will get back to WDW either.

Nothing too new here....everyone is doing well.

I keep debating if I want to attempt a black Friday run....I have never done it before, but I feel intrigued. Must be these sleepless nights effecting my mind!! :rotfl2:
