DDA Chapter 26

Katie got her mid term report, yesterday. She has a B+ in Science, and A- in History, and an A- in English. The rest are A's. I'm really frustrated by the history and English grades, as those are her best subjects, but she's become really lazy and is not handing things in on time, so she only gets 50% credit for them. Not good! We had a serious talk last night, and she realizes that if she doesn't pull her head out, she's going to lose her phone!

Ok that's not really funny, but I couldn't help but LOL! I'm wincing just thinking about the pain. Or was it just the nail, and not the meat of the finger?

It stopped raining here and the sun is out. We were supposed to get all the rain too!

I just realized that I have more than enough Marriott Reward Points to book a free room! So... I booked the Courtyard Inn at Richmond Airport for Thursday night. I will leave here about 9:30 p.m. after my last lesson and drive down there to sleep.

Then I can get up about 5:30 (instead of 3:00) on Friday morning. I will drive from the Courtyard over to the Wyndham Hotel to leave the car for our Park 'n' Fly reservation. Their shuttle will take me to the airport in plenty of time for my 7:00 a.m. flight and I get a couple more hours of sleep for my troubles.

So my vacation starts a little sooner!!

My favorite Uncle has passed away. I had asked for prayers a while back for him. He was the only man that could hug me like my dad. He was a very special person. Keep his family in your prayers as they deal with his loss. It is going to be very hard on everyone.

My antibiotics seem to be doing the trick! Feeling MUCH better!

Progress reports came in yesterday for Katie & she has all A's except for sewing!! She got a C in sewing!! agh! We thought that would be an easy class for her...She's aceing advanced algebra, science, history, & english...all the classes that "matter" & her grade point average will be dragged down by sewing...

Glad you're feeling better. Sorry about the sewing. You would think she deserves an A after sewing her finger nail. Is she afraid to try now?

Anne Marie, glad you are feeling better! DS's costuming teacher made the comment that she has never had a freshman run a sewing needle through their fingers because they are afraid of the sewing machines. She said the advanced ones are the ones who tend to hurt themselves! She's a very intimidating woman, but DS THINKS he has a high B in her class.

Nice to hear DS is doing well in costuming. I had a witch of a teacher in Home Ec in high school. I have to say she did teach me some very good habbits though!

I only got one C in middle school and that was in sewing I guess I didn't get the hang of it until I was an adult


I know that I wanted to respond to others, but Colby's been whining nonstop since he got home about his loose tooth. It hurts to eat and he's starving to death, but he refuses to eat anything soft. He is driving me crazy.

She wanted to be a designer last year (project runway started all that) & thats why she registered for this class...she still likes designing clothes just not the actual sewing the fabric together. I do not know how to sew with a machine so I am of no help. It's not like I can find a tutor in sewing. Would Aunt Bernadette like to come down for the weekend???

Sure but I have a hunch that my methods aren't the same as the teachers and her grades wouldn't improve. I think sewing teachers are VERY particular about doing it their way.

They offer a sewing class as an intramural activity in Lizzy's middle school. I think she wants to do that and I really want to encorage her to do that. I think she (and I ) would be better off learning from someone else.

What is she trying to make?

The weather is nasty here. Foggy, dreary and nasty spot showers that keep popping up. Wonder if Lizzy and her classmates are staying dry? Looks miserable out there. Hope they are having fun.

I may have to email the Mom of one of her classmates to see how they did last night. She's a chaperone tomorrow also.
