DDA Chapter 26

Good morning everyone. I haven't looked out the window yet this morning, but I don't think it snowed again. I hope!

Deb - I like the idea of a light yellow! Whatever you do will look great, I know!

Bernadette - Sorry about the tooth! I hate tooth pain! The cookie recipe was a chocolate mint truffle. Very good and rich!

Anne Marie - I'm with you on the Wii remotes! I desperately need more, as we only have 2, but with 4 kids chomping at the bit, 2 more would come in handy. Maybe Santa will bring a couple more.

Pack meeting tonight. Should be fun! My large den of 11 boys is now down to 6, and after tonight will be down to 4. After that, we'll continue to shrink until December when we'll reach the grand total of 2 and remain there for a while. Sad, but I guess it's a part of the Scouting life.

I found a sage coverlet that goes well with the picture. Now if the actual colors are close it will be great. I bought a ligt sage wall paint, Behr brand cucumber. I wanted shutters, but new ones would run upwards of $600 for 2 windows. I opted for white wooden blinds @ $60 for two. I hope to paint tomorrow

today was my first day at Target....I out age most of the other new hires by 2 decades but was not the oldest...but I seem to be the most normal.:lmao: It was also only orientation so I won't get a true sense of the work until later. Though this particular store seems to have a high turnover rate so that's not usually a good sign. I am just thrilled to have a job.

Jenna is so precious..the pictures make me smile.

Bernadette - sorry about the tooth, seems like you and I are haivng the same kind of luck these days

We found a hall and booked it for the wedding, the date is July 23rd, we sat down and talked with the kids, they are aware that this wedding will be on a tight budget and are fine with it, they plan on paying for some of it themselves.

We leave in less than two weeks and I haven't even started getting things together for our trip, hopefully I can get myself together soon.
Thanks!

July 23rd is DH's birthday.

You'll be ready for your trip! How nice to have that to look forward to!

Thanks! Cookies sound good!

We only have 1 right now but Santa is bringing Wii Play with a remote and Wii Resort with the motion plus. I was thinking of buying a motion plus for the remote we have now-I was thinking of getting the new Carnival game with a motion plus on sale this week at Target for $40 but I don't know that we need that game...and the motion plus is only $15-maybe I'll wait and see if we really need that if I buy a couple of the new remotes too.

Joe's den merged with another den so they have more kids this year. Joe said he liked it better when it was smaller (and quieter). Joe really loves scouting.

I found a sage coverlet that goes well with the picture. Now if the actual colors are close it will be great. I bought a ligt sage wall paint, Behr brand cucumber. Sounds great but couldn't you make some shutters?

I'm tired. Didn't get to bed early enough last night. I plan to get a few more zzz's after the boys leave for school, then I'll get up and start painting. Hopefully it will go quickly.

We had flurries the other day. Thankfully we've come out of the cold snap at least for a couple of days. It is nearly 70 today :goodvibes

Nick's appointment took nearly 2 hours :headache: They wanted to be sure that the frequent dizziness/blackouts that he has are not health related. She was confident that it wasn't heart related and Nick has agreed to give up caffiene (soda) for 2 months to see if things improve. If he doesn't see a big improvement we'll need to have him see a neurologist at the beginning of the new year. We may also need to get his eyes checked, but we did it less than a year ago :confused3 when the ped office thought he needed glasses. The eye doctor said the peds office equipment was miscalibrated. We'll have vision coverage starting Dec 1 so we'll wait until then for sure.

I hope dropping caffeine helps. Andrew is trying to give it up and is drinking sprite instead for the bubbles, or gatorade. Good luck to Nick.

Belated Birthday Wishes Hunter!!!

Marci-continued prayers.

Deb-you can do it! Good luck to Nick-hope that helps!

Becky-sorry things aren't going well at work.

Tia-good luck with your charge!

Theresa-yay for starting work earlier!

Anne Marie-thanks for mentioning the wii basketball. I looked for it at the new target down the street from my office but couldn't find it then saw it in a basket near the register and got it for the $19.99.:thumbsup2

Janet-Target has Wii Fit on sale for $77 this week.

Last week I went to the dentist for a cleaning and he found a cracked tooth-from grinding/clenching due to stress. He asked me if it hurt and I said no but he kept poking around at it. He gave me an appointment for 11/4 for the start of a crown. I called today to say it was really hurting.:headache: He's sending me to a specialist tomorrow. I really don't have time for this. Plus Joe & Emma's parent/teacher conferences plus scout parties plus still crazy busy at work...at this rate I may crack a few more teeth....

Oh no -- I hope that you start feeling better soon. I hate tooth pain!

Hi there...

Here are some Jenna portraits....I posted more on Facebook.

So precious! I love seeing pics of our DDA kids and babies.

I just ordered a wallpaper mural for our bedroom. It is a beach theme. I want to paint the walls, they are currently a denim blue rag roll over white. Most of our bedroom furniture is dark gray. I'm thinking a light grey for the walls? Would that give a tropical look? Not sure what I'll do for bedding and curtains. We have Denim now. I need to pick up paint tomorrow and get the first coat on the wall on Friday or I won't have enough time before the boys parties. I was thinking of doing a wall techinique, but think I'd be biting off more than I can chew at his point. This is the wall mural:

I could pick up a lighter shade of pink/purple from the flowers and that would have a tropical look too. hmm
We have white ceiling and trim with oak laminate floors.

I can't wait to see pics of the finished project!

Jennifer - take care of yourself and those baby girls

Kristine - She's just beautiful, worth every minute of bedrest and pain that you went through

Deb - love the mural, I usually get my bedding and coordinate the wall color with that

Bernadette - sorry about the tooth, seems like you and I are haivng the same kind of luck these days

Terri (and Stephanie too) - loving the trip report, makes me wish I had been there too

Marci - Still praying for you :hug::hug:

Glynis - Wow, snow already, we still have the AC on here

We found a hall and booked it for the wedding, the date is July 23rd, we sat down and talked with the kids, they are aware that this wedding will be on a tight budget and are fine with it, they plan on paying for some of it themselves.

We leave in less than two weeks and I haven't even started getting things together for our trip, hopefully I can get myself together soon.

Wow -- you are already busy, without helping plan a wedding. I hope things fall in to place with your next trip. My doc has encouraged me to take our before Christmas trip, though I will have to use a wheelchair and steer clear of the coasters. He thinks my happy place will be good for me.

Good luck with the new job!

Pre-surgical physical went pretty well. Everything was good, except I'm anemic and low on vitamin D, and my triglycerides are a touch high, but doc said we will worry about that after my big surgery. Bp was 165, and I usually run in the 110 range, but they know it is due to stress, lack of sleep etc. She put me on a mild beta blocker and I bought an electric bp machine. It's been down at normal since I started the meds. It was even 121 yesterday when they took it before my sentinel lymph node biopsy.

That went well. They took 3 nodes and hope to have the results back on Monday or Tuesday. I'm super sore and sporting a lovely large scar under my arm, but other than that, it's not been too bad.

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend. Please post Halloween pics!

And, what's for lunch today? Deb sent me a box of soups. I froze them and all I have to do is thaw and eat. Thanks again Deb for such an incredibly thoughtful gift, timed perfectly! :goodvibes

What a busy day!!! We had a lot of costume drama this morning, but got it resolved, whew!!!

Jacob got to participate in the 5th grade wax museum this morning. He had to choose an important American figure. He chose Walt Disney. He spent all last week researching his life, and writing a paper on him. This morning, he dressed like Disney, we penciled in a mustache on him, and he went off to the wax museum. He had to stand in the gym, while parents and teachers asked questions about his person. He did so well!!! It was a fun assignment!

Leslie and Mary participated in the school's costume parade this afternoon. It was so cute! Mary is a black cat this year, and Leslie is "Li'l Miss Halloween". They are both happy with their costumes, so that made me happy. Timothy is baby Superman, and is in love with his costume. We let him wear it to the school for the parade, and he joined right in with the big kids! It was darling! I'll post pictures tomorrow!

Katie was the one with all the drama. She put off deciding on a costume until late last night. She finally settled on a "poodle skirt girl". She tried the costume on and it was darling on her. But, something happened in her mind from 10:00 last night to 6:30 this morning, and when she put it on this morning, she HATED it! She said it made her look fat! NOT!!! However, we couldn't persuade her it didn't. Finally, Alan dug his letterman jacket out of the closet and gave it to her to wear over the costume. For some reason that made her happy and she went to school just fine! Whew!

I spent the afternoon manning a station at Jacob's class party. We did Halloween bingo. I was happy to do that station, and not the pumpkin bowling, or the haunted house station. Both of those were horribly messy! The pumpkin they were bowling with split and left slime all over the hallway floor, and the haunted houses were small gingerbread houses, so picture glops of frosting all over the place! All I had to do was hand out laminated Bingo cards and markers, and then collect them at the end!

Tonight, Alan and I are going out to eat at Cafe Zupa's. We love this place. Hot soups, fresh salads, and yummy sandwiches, all at decent prices! It will be nice to be away from the kids for a while.

Tomorrow morning, we carve our pumpkins, harvest the seeds, and roast them! The weatherman predicts rain in the evening, so I'm hoping I can convince the kids to do their trick-or-treating early (yup, our community is doing it Saturday, not Sunday.).

I agree with your doctor! I think WDW will have a healing feeling for you!

Glad you got the preliminary stuff done! You sound very upbeat, and that's a good thing!

My whole family is praying for you, Marci! Please lean on us if you need to!

Tonight we are going to the Haunted Tastes and Treats event at Potomac Point Winery. It is held in the cask room in their cellar. It is very spooky down there when they finish the decorating! I am looking forward to this again this year. We really had a good time last October.

Here is their menu (but they haven't released the wines they are pairing with these desserts):

Cannoli Sundae
Profiteroles with burnt orange cream and fudge drizzle
Pumpkin chiffon mousse with gingersnap crust
Chocolate flan with coffee caramel

Good Morning,

We have a football game this morning, followed by pumpkin carving this afternoon.

I got a pin code for this spring in my email yesterday. Why could it not have been for nov/dec of next year

Can you tell we are having fun with this baby?! :):):)

Jenna doesn't look so enthused :lmao: She is definitely a cutie. Does she have a costume?

Glynis it sounds like your kids had fun.

We did pumpkin in the park last night, it was cold. We weren't dressed for it as it had been warm the past few days. We stayed about an hour then headed home.

My room is coming along. I painted the walls yesterday and hot glued shells on our picture frames. We had collect shells at Vero beach and in the Bahamas so it was nice to be able to use them. Today I bought baseboard trim and got that up and painted. The bedding is on and one slip cover is made for an ugly cupboard that is in there. Now I'm going to staple fabric on the book shelf and then make an awning for above the windows. It looks really nice. Can't wait to get the mural on tuesday. It's a lot of work, but I'm so pleased that the house is looking so much better, more put together.

Kristine - You all are having fun. Not so sure about Jenna... ;) ENJOY HER!!!

Jennifer - Hopefully there will be another pin code. You might try calling Disney before it expires and telling them you wish you could use it but that you can't come until later in the year due to the upcoming birth of twins. they might send another one.

Debbie - I hope the pumpkin carving went well. Did your team win??

Deb - looking forward to the pictures!

We had fun. The pictures didn't come out very well since it was dark, but when I get them uploaded I will share what is good enough to see.

Enjoy your evenings, everyone!
