DDA Chapter 25

Deb - I believe it's her mom that lives in Maryland.

Theresa - I'm so sad that you are having to go through this, but honestly, I think this was just the push you needed to get you out of the rut that your life has become. I firmly believe that all things happen for a reason, and having the house foreclosed on was a sign that you need to take control of your life. I'm proud of you! I bet you feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders!

I'm back from school. I took cupcakes over for Alyssa's lunch to celebrate her birthday. Tomorrow is her actual birthday, but I have to work so she was able to celebrate it today. She will also be with her dad this weekend, so we had her party on Sunday. It was at Young Chef's Academy, where they made "Lotsa Pasta". They actually MADE the pasta, from scratch. All the kids had a great time, and it was no muss no fuss for me. :teeth:

Now I have an hour to myself with nothing pressing that HAS to be done. I can't remember the last time that happened.

How expensive is the Young Chef's Academy? I've been thinking of doing that for the twin's next birthday.

While I have the internet for a smidge and no desire to get back to packing (LOOOOOONG story) I thought I'd catch up here.

Hugs all around.

We will be out of the house this Saturday...I am not too heartbroken over it as it seems to be just a house...not a home. The girls and I are staying with a friend. Jim will be at my grandparents.

My sister will be coming and picking Cassidy up to live with her Labor Day weekend and Abi and I have decided that we need a complete fresh start...so we will be moving to Maryland. Jim just spent an hour arguing with me that kids need a two parent household:rotfl2: and this move isn't in Abi's best interest

I am walking on my ankle...kind of...but the icky weather we have and the packing has made it ache terribly.

For what it's worth, I think you are making the right decision. This will be the fresh start that you deserve, and you will have your mom to help with Abi. She's not a dumb kid, she knows that the "two parent" situation you guys have right now, is not a good thing. I applaud you, and wish that I could help out with more than prayers.

Now, however, I have to start getting ready for a whirlwind trip to Vancouver/Seattle with Alan. He has to cover a story for the station, and since our anniversary is coming up, he offered to take me, and spend a couple of extra days in Seattle to celebrate our anniversary (our actual anniversary is May 26, but that's when we'll be knee deep in getting ready for our family California trip). I'm excited about going. We leave at 4:00 tomorrow morning, and come home late Tuesday night.

Alan and I have decided to do the WDW half marathon again! Actually, Alan wants to do the full, and I'm going to do the half. Alan talked for a while about doing both, but I told him that was really nuts! He's not in that great shape, yet!

Have a good day, and a wonderful rest of the week/weekend! See y'all on Wednesday.
Have a great trip to Seattle! I want to go someday.

:woohoo:Yay for Disney plans!

Party sound fun!!! We can't bring in any home made food or even store bought cupcake to school.:sad2: They have one day a month they celebrate all that month's birthdays with approved prepackaged peanut free foods.

:hug:I think a change will be good for you and the girls!

Theresa that sounds like a great plan for you and the girls. Hopefully the job market will be better in Maryland. I know Abi knows that a 2 parent household would be good but that the one you guys have right now is not good for either her or you and Cassidy.

It starts at $175, depending on what you cook. I got a little bit of a break off of that because I work with the owner's husband. Expensive, yes. But for me it's worth it because I don't have the time to put into planning, cleaning, cooking, decorating, hosting, and cleaning again.

Have a great time in Seattle, and yay for the marathon again!

We (the city) have our annual Great Train Race on Sunday. It's a mile run for the kids through downtown, broken into gender/age groups. Alyssa is running it again this year, so we went into town after school and ran the course. She did it in about 10 minutes. Now I've got her Ipod all set up with a "running" playlist, so she is good to go!

Theresa - Best of luck with the packing. I think the move to Maryland really is the best choice for you and Abi. It's farther from Cassidy, which will be tough, I'm sure, but in the end I think it's best for all 3 of you. Good luck with all of it. Wish there was some way I could help. :grouphug:

Glynis - Have a great trip! I would love to go to Seattle sometime. Someday maybe I'll get a chance to go visit one of my favorite cousins and will get to go.

Theresa- The move sounds like a good way to make a fresh start. I know that being away from Cassidy will be hard.:wizard::hug:

Hope Colby is feeling better soon and no one else gets it.

Hope you get to go to Seattle Glynis and that everyone is feeling better.

I need an idea for a thank you for all of my service unit managers. I have about 10 people I need to do that for. It should be low cost. I was thinking about separating and repotting plants for each of them. Or making something but am not sure what. I'll probably also make brownies or something for each of the service teams when they meet to plan for next year. Council does a small thank you gift for leader, co-leaders, trainers and service unit managers but it is the same for everyone so I wanted to do something special for the above people. I will write each person a thank you note but what to do something in addition to that. Does anyone have any ideas?

Good morning. :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Alyssa. She will love them. :goodvibes: I can't believe my baby is 8.

Becky - Sorry, I got nothing.

If you do the potted plants...you could add a tag that says "thanks for helping us grow" or "bloom" if it is flowers. If you run out of time and don't get to do the potted plants you could always give seed packets. Here are a few other ideas...they are for "teacher appreciation" but would work for you as well:

• “You are out of this world” tag attached to a Milky Way or Mars candy bar
• “You deserve an extra payday!” tag attached to a Payday candy bar
• “You are ‘extra’ special” tag with a pack of Extra Gum
• “We appreciate the ‘mounds’ of work you do!” tag attached to a Mounds candy bar
• “Thanks for giving us a hand” tag with hand lotion
• “Thanks a ‘latte’ for all you do!” tag with an individual latte packet
• “You are ’souper’! – soup mix, custom decorated soup bowls or homemade soup
• “Thanks for holding everything together” tag with fun paper clips
• “Just a note to say you are special” custom made note pads , purchased notepads or post it notes
• “You are a ‘treasure’ tag with Treasures candy
• “You are the apple of our eye” with a basket of apples
• “You are ‘tea’rrific!” tag with a selection of teas
• “You deserve a ‘break’ today! Thanks for your hard work” tag with a Fast-Break candy bar
• “You are a smart cookie” tag with homemade cookies
• “Thanks for making our year bright” tag with a package of highlighters
• “You are o’fish’ally the best!” tag attached to Goldfish Crackers
• “We are fortunate to have you!” tag with a Chinese take out box filled with fortune cookies
• “You are a joy!” tag attached to an Almond Joy candy bar
• “Thanks for giving us a hand!” tag attached to work or garden gloves filled with candy
• “You rock!” tag with pop rocks, rock candy, Rock Star soft drink or painted rock for a paperweight
• “You have been ‘key’ to our success!” tag attached to a key ring, maybe a pretty handmade beaded one
• “We are ‘nuts’ about you!” tag attached to some nuts
• “You ‘float’ above the rest” tag attached to a balloon
• “You are worth more than a 100 grand to us!” tag attached to a 100 Grand candy bar
• “You ‘mint’ so much to us this year” tag attached to some mints

Great Timing. Teacher Appreciation week is next week. I've done many of those before, but I just might do some again. They are fun and easy.

Deb-how's Colby? Joe was vomitting this morning. Poor kid. Better today then a few days from now. He asked me if he could still go to Disney. I have to say I'm not feeling 100% but maybe I'm just feeling empathy for him.

I have a 2pm meeting today. I think I'm going to try to leave after that. Emma has a Girl Scout Meeting today. She's missed the last few being at Disney or sick so she really wants to go today.

Theresa - I think your future looks brighter because of your choices.

Deb - I hope Colby is feeling better

Becky - I don't have any ideas for you but Dolly sure did! ::yes::
