DDA Chapter 24

Good morning. :)

County is closed again so another day of double time. My kids have been in school 4.5 hrs in the last 8 days. So much for summer vacation.

The county put us up again last night. But I was home yesterday as it was my day off. I didn't find out until 5PM last night so at 6:30 I started to head up the road, after dinner. It took me 2 hours to get here, which should have taken an hour at best. The roads were horrible, but I made it. If I had waited until this morning I never would have made it. It is so snowy and windy. Ill just be driving along and all of a sudden be in a complete and total white out, like if you were flying through a cloud. We are staying again tonight too.

Theresa - lots of good thoughts.

Vicki - hang in there

Bernadette - I hope I don't have to go through that border debacle again!

Anne Marie - Hopefully its nothing serious with your van, but it doesn't sound promising.

Tammi,
Sounds like trecherous driving, be careful.

Theresa,
Hope the surgery is going well.

Janet & Kristine,
Heard there was an earthquake in IL. Did either of you feel it?

This just in-----Jim called to let me know that Theresa just went into surgery.

Wow! This storm sure sounds like a doozy! I hope all of you in it's path stay safe and warm. I'm glad that schools and businesses are closed. Yikes!!!

Terry - Thanks for the update on Theresa. She is in my prayers. I hope that you are doing ok. I can imagine how hard this is on you and Stephanie. I hope that things work out for the best!

Vickie - Sorry you are going through a "down" time. I'm so glad you have your vacation to look forward to.

Tammi - Take care out there! I can't even imagine having to be out in weather like that!

Becky - I'm so glad you stayed home! No job is worth endangering yourself that much!

Things here are gorgeous. Not to make you jealous, or anything, but the sky is clear, the sun is out, the snow is melting, and it's beautiful!!! Supposed to stay that way through the weekend, too! I have nothing to do today, except some studying, so I'm planning on a nice, easy day! I will get to make up for it tomorrow, as I have to meet with Katie's counselor and hammer out a schedule for next year, and then meet with some volunteers for the kids play which is in 2 weeks. Guess I'll enjoy my "day off."

Have a great day, all!

We did not feel it here near Chicago....

My sister and mother however felt it quite a bit. Right after 4 am...I guess books flew off the shelves and everything. Their dog went nuts and her pet bird thrashed around so much that it broke off 10 feathers!

Oh no!

So far we only have about 6 inches..i finally went outside..mom and i used the snowblower so the driveway is at least clear. Were waiting on part 2 of the storm now..ugh

I just got off the phone with Jim. Theresa is out of surgery and doing fine. She is in recovery right now for the next few hours. Then he will take her home. After that the healing time will be about six weeks.

Out the side door, our two cars are completely covered. Just two mounds. Now the wind has picked up. I don't expect to see the plows come thru until either later today or maybe overnight. The wind would just undo everything.

There must be almost two feet of snow now. You can see that it is much heavier too.

Terry - thanks for the Theresa Update. ::yes::

Tammi - you be careful out there!! It is worse up there than it is down here, but the wind is awful. Our patio doors are drifted shut.

Anne Marie - I don't know that I would be driving that van!

Has Janet checked in? I am glad Kristine and her clan are (almost) untouched by the earthquake.

Those of you north of us... batten down the hatches. It's coming your way! :grouphug:

Terry, thanks for the update.:goodvibes

Tammi, I applaud you for getting to work today. You are the essential services they always talk about on the news. I'm so glad you're safe.

The hospitals put their personnel that were able, up in hotels too. So did Costco! Who in the world do they think is coming out to buy anything today??

The wind has really picked up. Out here in no man's land the wind is causing the almost two foot of snow to drift. I'm not sure we'll be able to make it out tomorrow.:cold::cold::cold:

Be careful, especially on the roads. It's the other drivers that you have to watch out for.

We are getting snow here. It's snowed consistanly for a couple of hours, but the snow is melting as soon as it hits the ground. The roads are just wet. I worked at school this morning and I'll be at the restaurant tonight. I'm also subbing a full day tomorrow and a half day on Friday. I'll take all the hours I can get as I'm saving for a big vacation ;)

Just a quick good afternoon everyone before I have to run!! Phil forgot his lunch and I want to try to catch him before time to eat.

I was really hoping the storm would peter out for most of you like it did us, but guess not. I'm glad most of you are staying put. Drive safely if you have to get out and lots of :wizard: that the power stays on.

Terry - Thanks for the update on Theresa. She's in our prayers still!

Just checking in for an update on Theresa. Thanks, Terry!

Elin,
I just do not go in reverse! No seriously, I am taking it on Friday morning to a dealer. If we get a new car it's going to be pre-owned not "new" new. I just need basic reliable transport, nothing fancy.

Thanks for the update Terry.

The snow got heavy a little bit ago and it has piled up fast.

****** Theresa update *****

I just got off the phone with Theresa. They were leaving the hospital and were just pulling into a place to get some lunch. She has plenty of pain meds and will be using a walker instead of crutches which is a good thing. She can manage easier with the walker. Right now she has a splint and next week will probably get a cast put on. She probably won't post until sometime later on tonight her time. :goodvibes:goodvibes

That is great news! Thanks for posting Terry.

Lots of :wizard: for quickly diminishing pain, Theresa. Sounds like they've got you set up, though. Call if you need anything or just want to talk!
