DDA Chapter 23

Chris thanks you for the birthday wishes. They were perfect. We certainly needed a little sunshine in our day.

We were awaken at 5:45 this morning with a thrashing sound in Hunter's room. We headed into his room to find him in a full blown Grand Mal Seizure. Chris called 911 while I got him onto the floor. He was completely nonresponsive, eyes wide open, but no one home. He was breathing and his heart was beating. I did my best to keep his attention (I have no idea if I did or not) Chris handed me 911 and used the other phone to call my SIL next door. She ran over (she's a nurse) we got some table sugar and managed to get a bit into him through clenched teeth and dry lips. Eventually he began to utter nonsense words and he became combative, trying to get up. The Ambulance came and we checked his sugar which was normal, but we had gotten some sugar into him :confused3 We got him into the ambulance and off we went. We were probably 15 miles into the trip when he finally came back to reality and started talking and making complete sense. He seems completely fine now. The Dr. really told us nothing. We have a follow up with a pediatric neurologist on Friday. In the thrashing he managed to rebreak his clavicle and much worse. They are treating it as they were, but the 8 weeks start over. Nick and Colby saw all this happen so they were really upset. They didn't go to school, my brother and SIL kept them. Oh, I decided that my stress levels are Way too high at this point so I called and quit at the Aquatic Center. So I guess this is a day for the books.
Oh Deb, I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Many prayers for your family and the doctors, that they can figure out what the problem is.

Deb,
My prayers were with you last night for a peaceful night.

Good morning.

Katie's got a bad cold so I am keeping her home. I gave her a heaping spoon full of honey & some nose saline drops & sent her back to bed.

Theresa I hope you can get your volunteer hours figured out & that you hear back from this interview :wizard:

Anne Marie I hope Katie is feeling better soon :wizard:

Deb I hope last night was calmer for everyone :wizard:

No work for me today as my back went out again. This time it was just bending over to get clothes out of the dryer. It has been acting up the past 2 weeks & yesterday it hit full force. Such is life I guess.

Deb-- I am so sorry that you and Hunter (and Chris, Nick, and Colby) had to go through that. I have only seen one seizure in my life, and it's definitely not an experience I ever want to have again. I can't even imagine if it were my child! I hope that you get answers and never, ever have to go through that again. I hope that the clavicle heals quickly and doesn't cause Hunter much more pain. :wizard:

Theresa-- I am sorry to hear about all the work/money problems that keep getting worse instead of better. I hope that this new interview leads to what you need. I will keep you in my prayers and have faith that there is a giant silver lining that will appear very soon!

Elin--I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. I can't even begin to think about that. Dh will be 45 next year, and we aren't anywhere near as fit.

I owe a lot of Happy Birthdays! :cake:

I can't believe how time is flying right now.

Janet--I am sorry about your back! I hope that it is better quickly!

Anne Marie--I hope that Katie's cold doesn't get worse and that she's better quickly, too.

Laura pulled something in her back yesterday, and it hurts to move, but she's ok to go to school. She's too young for that! It might have something to do with the 30 pounds of books that she has to carry around all day.

I ditto all of this and want to add that I'm so sorry about your back. I hope it gets better quickly!

Elin -- I'm glad your girls trip will most likely still happen. It will certainly be a very different trip for your friend, but looking back, I'm glad my Dad insisted we go after Mom passed.

Janet - your poor back!

Anne Marie - I hope Katie feels better soon.

Beth - I like your new photo! :goodvibes

Santa's done here...:santa: Laptops for older ones & a DSi for Sophie. Mostly video games & lots of books....no "toys" though. :sad2:

My neighbor hosted a Thirty-One party so I got all the cousins monogramed bags.

Just Dana & the moms left.

Hopefully we will get some Christmas decorations up this weekend.

Wow you are doing good :thumbsup2

No laptops for the boys here, not for Christmas anyway. They understand though, so that helps me not feeling so bad.

If you need to talk, feel free to call ANYTIME. You have my cell # and since I live by myself during the week, you won't disturb anyone but me if you call!!!!

I may take you up on that offer

Hunter had a good night, but ended up having a mild seizure this morning. No convulsions, just the blank stare and inability to speak. I called the pediatric neurologist on call and they felt that he didn't need to come in unless he has convulsions or an episode that lasts longer than 5 minutes. He still wanted to go to school so we went. We lasted until 11:45 when he was too tired to care to stay. We're home now and we've eaten lunch so a nap is next for us. Hopefully it will be peaceful for both of us.
