DDA Chapter 23

Mac, good to hear from you! The kids look great in their costumes! Is Mya still in public school? How are they handling her absences with the DCT production? They had asked DS to audition but missing 7 mornings of school wasn't something our principal was sure she could clear with the district. Rehearsals also conflicted with his rehearsals for the school play, so we didn't pursue it.

Principal is calling it unexused absence or however you spell it. Truancy office was cool with it however. So I will go see the judge and let them know why I chose this education over missing lunch and recess.

I think she's playing hardball, because she told one family before the production that is how she would handle it, probably to scare families away. I chose to ask forgiveness instead of permision. We have three in the school doing it, one with a speaking part.

Jake and Noah are police officers and Luke is their prisoner. They had to hold Luke's hand because he kept tripping over the ball and chain around his ankle.

Lynn your grandsons are absolutely adorable.

Good morning DDA! I sure hope we all have great weeks. Enough of this sickness, school and work woes. Let's have wonderful days!:hippie::hippie::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We go to Disney next month!!:dance3:

Lots of people commented that I should have been the Wicked Witch, but my niece REALLY wanted to be the witch until last week when she decided to be a cheerleader. :teeth:

And, you can see Matty is carrying Alyssa's trick-or-treat bag, because it was bigger than the one Grandma bought him. This wasn't a big deal, since Alyssa used her basket to collect candy. ;)
So cool! You guys look great!

Too funny about your niece-my Lizzy wanted to be a cheer leader up to a week ago and then changed her mind and went as a witch.

So cute!!! Looks like Luke isn't thrilled with the police whistles.

Debbie....the day Jonathan left for college I cried my eyes out. Now as he gets ready to graduate I am feeling perplexed at the thought of him moving back in.....damn, I should have used the "rabbit, rabbit" for him to get a job offer!
He is graduating already? It seems like just yesterday that he left. That went fast!

It isn't so bad having them come back home. At least, it hasn't been bad for us the past 18 months. But we all know it is time for Kristin to find a place of her own. Now, if she could just find one she can afford!
Would you say that if you had 3 other kids living there? ;)

Very nice halloween pictures everyone. The costumes were all terrific!

Janet - you and Gary looked great. Tell him he made a very nice Capt. Jack! ;)

Good morning. :)

I only have to work one day this week. My regular days off are Mon, Tues and Friday but I took off Wed too, as Alyssa wanted me to chaperone her field trip that day. Plus, we're going to the Miley Cyrus concert tomorrow night, which they don't know about yet. Is it bad that I am excited for that? They don't have school tomorrow because of election day, so I'm going to ask them what they want to do for the day. Then I'll say "how about this" and give them the tickets that someone designed for me. (the concert is paperless) It starts at 7, so if it's a nice day, we'll drive up into DC early and hang out, have some dinner, etc.

Today I have lots of laundry waiting for me. Then this afternoon I have a hair appt. for a cut and cover up. It needs it badly!

Have a great day!

Morning to all :)

Notice I didn't say "good" morning. I pulled up at work and realized I left my ID badge at home. I had to wait downstairs for 10 minutes to ride up with someone in the elevators. They only run up to the 2nd floor if you scan your ID badge. The access to the restrooms are also outside a secured door. Soooo now everytime I need to go to the ladies room I have to borrow someone elses ID badge. I'm sure they are going to love that.

Oh well....maybe my day will improve from here. :confused3

When DS was in elementary we were told attendance goes like this:
If they are in their seat at 8 AM they are present for the entire day, even if they leave at 8:30 and don't come back. If they arrive by 10 AM they are "tardy". If they arrive AFTER 10 AM they are absent, even though 10 AM - 3 PM is longer than 8 AM - 10 AM.
But for middle school they do attendance for all 7 classes separately, and all of DS's academic subjects are in the AM. We are hoping he will be accepted to the Arts magnet next year and I would imagine they have a procedure in place for kids who have performances outside of school.
I am sure Mya will have a BLAST!! We love DCT!:goodvibes

Tammi, have fun at the concert!

Lynn, I hope leaving your ID is the worst thing that happens today!

There are a few from the Art's Magnet in the production. I find it silly that they will pull them out of school to see a show in the Spring, however their not suppose to act in a show in the fall. I know it's more days, but a day is a day isn't it? LOL

Thanks Tammi! All night everyone kept telling him the same thing & his response was that he was not trying to be anyone, just a plain ole pirate lol

I know! He actually had enough credits to graduate as a junior...but I think he's having too good of a time. He'd make a great rich person who just becomes a professional student!! He has a double major and his minor...I have yet to quite understand what he will be doing with them

Oh an now he has informed he wants to go to Cincinnati 2 days before he is to leave for WDW to go to some concert. Makes me tired

Good morning, DDA!

Loving all of the Halloween pictures! I'll try to get ours uploaded today.

I don't think that there's much on our schedule today. Just some Girl Scout planning, some laundry, some Halloween undecorating and a trip to the library.

Hope your days are more exciting than mine! ;)

They are too cute :goodvibes I saw a little boy in the police officer costume here and noticed how realistic it looked, but the prisoner made it even better.

You would think they would be content to go after the ones who are SKIPPING school, who are failing, whose parents are clueless. But NOOOO, they have to bother the parents who have kids doing theater performances. I think a lot of the kids DS has classes with at DCT are homeschooled.

He makes you tired because that is his job.
