We got the phone call tonight!

Alyssa's ballet center called and invited her to be in this year's production of The Nutcracker! The older girls audition for their roles but the younger one's get "invited". This is her first year eligible to be in it. She will be one of the cooks. Rehearsals start at the end of October. She's so happy!

Congrats to Alyssa!

Well our politicians are doing it to us again. We don't have a balanced budget which means we don't know if we got to work on Monday or not. Two years ago we had to call a specific number in the morning to find out whether we should show up or not. I suspect it will be the same this year since we have a day and it still isn't done. :sad2:

We haven't had a budget for over two months. The Governor signed over two weeks ago but they are still fighting over things. The Governor is fighting to keep the monies for the education programs. There are some day care centers that the workers have not gotten paychecks for over 6 weeks. Parents are bringing in food and toilet paper.
I cannot even begin to imagine how many people will be filing for bankruptcy, losing their homes.

So tonight I went to the Dutch Apple dinner theater and saw Smoke on the Water. As my Mom had won 4 tickets. The show was alright, it was not my style of show. Some parts were hilarious though.

I have to finish my monthly report and strategic plans by tomorrow. I need all the gusto pulled from somewhere to get through them. I have several issues w/ the whole plan process, I will not bore you with all of the issues. The big ones are last year we wrote up plans and never really did anything w/ them. They want us to come up w/ big, new and innovative, creative ideas, but we have no CEO or anyone to give us permission or help us implement anything and have no idea what direction all the new people will take us once they are hired. I can come up w/ ideas but I myself do not have the ability or resources to implement them. So IMO I am writing a plan that most likely will not be used.

In better news, I am booked on the repo cruise from LAX to Vancouver and then the 1st Alaska cruise. We are not sure if we are going to end up doing either or just one of them. We might just do the repo, as a way to see the Pacific coast and then spend time after that exploring Vancouver, Seattle and other areas.

I want to cruise Alaska but want to cruise the glaciers which DCL is not doing. Plus I want to do lots of land stuff. Definitely a train ride through Alaska. So I am looking into other cruise lines to see what they have available. So I can do a cruise and land portion.

I have an early day tomorrow as I am getting my oil changed and an early day Friday as we have an all staff meeting.

That is WONDERFUL, Tammi. Participation in that annual production is coveted. Congrats to Alyssa!! I will need to buy a ticket, I guess! :goodvibes

Vicki prayers for your friends brother :wizard:

Tammi congratulations to Alyssa :dance3:

Congrats Alyssa

Congrats to Alyssa!
Thanks everyone!

Becky - good luck getting your stuff done. YAY for the cruises. I was looking at DCLs cruise to Alaska. It's not AS expensive as I thought it would be. Doesn't mean I'll be going on it though.

Good morning. :)

Happy hump day.

I don't know why, but my kids have an early dismissal today.

I just dropped Bob off to get his ride out of town. There is a chance they will need to stay up in MD tomorrow night too. I told his boss he is responsible for getting Bob to the airport on time for his flight on Friday morning or there would be big trouble when I got back from my solo trip to WDW!

Tammi...congrats to Alyssa!

Vicki...I read that story before I knew it was your friend....sad

Elin....Bob had BETTER make it out! :rotfl2:

Bill was giving Jackie a whole bunch of advice last night...if I closed my eyes I would have thought I was watching an episode of "Father Knows Best" it was sweet but sooooooooo old fashioned. Jackie and I did our best not to giggle. It is best for him to get it out of his system though.

Another funny note...Bill and I were talking about sex and how Chris is up not get the talk from us soon. And I asked him if his mother ever told him anything. He said she gave him a book....but took a permanent marker and crossed out all the so called objectionable words!!:laughing:

Good morning, DDA!

Elin, I certainly hope Bob makes it back in time! :wizard:

DS had his first play rehearsal yesterday. I am so excited for him! He is going to have such a terrific time! It has been announced that there will only be 4 shows - 2 during the school day, and 2 at night. I told him that means if he wants to be in one of the night shows he REALLY has to prove himself. Plenty of time. Plenty of time. I am eager to see the other girls they have cast as his wife. The one that was reading yesterday when I went to pick him up was really struggling.

He said the lead roles are triple cast because they have had some strange things happen in the past. Apparently Romeo ran away from home one year, and another year one of the leads either got horrible stage fright or a spontaneous case of agoraphobia and refused to leave the house. I am not sure what they will do if all 3 people who are cast in a role actually make it to the end. :confused3 But that seems unlikely. They will get a rehearsal schedule on Thursday, and they will get a script book sometime at the end of October. Until then they are not allowed to bring the scripts home. I suppose that is why they are starting so early. There is a parent meeting next week.

I bet he does well Elizabeth...and he will be in the evening performance!

Well....................I could clear my schedule if need be. ;) I wouldn't want you to be alone.
