DDA Chapter 22

So here goes day two of my August trip report,

Believe it or not I don't have any pictures,

We headed to DHS for what I thought was rope drop, but I missed the fact the it was and EMH morning and the park was already open when we got there, we were about 30 minutes late so we headed straight for TSM, there were no lines for the fastpasses so we got those with a return time of about 11:30 and headed over to our favorite, TOT. It may have taken us 15 minutes to go through and we went over to check out RNR, the standby line was 40 minutes so we decided to give the single rider line a try, I didn't really time it but I'm guessing it took us 20 minutes, I went first and was in the back seat with a party of three, DH was in the front of his limo with another single rider and they were the only people in the limo, somehow there was a big gap of people in the waiting area. :confused3

Being the "Tower Manics" that we are it was back to TOT after RNR for back to back rides, the standby wait time was listed as 50 minutes, but we were able to ride it twice in under that.

I don't rememer exactly what we did from there, but around lunch time we were trying to decide where to eat, CS at DHS leaves quite a bit to be desired so I thought I would take a long shot and see about a walk up at Sci Fi, to my surprise I was told that a party of two would be no problem and we were seated in about 5 minutes. We hitch hiked in the back seat of a party of three, but the driver didn't pick up our check. :rotfl: As hot as it was outside it was really nice to have a sit down meal in a cool place, I had the chili and a salad, DH had the grilled chicken sandwich, nothing fancy but good.

After lunch we headed over to TSM, I won! We've never gone through the stand by line and seen Mr. Potatohead, one day we're going to have to try it. We took the backstage tour and headed back to TOT where we rode a couple of times.

This was the night of our DDA dinner at Cape May, so we decided to go back to the resort to rest and freshen up, after sweating all morning a shower sounded like a great idea. I talked DH into taking a cab to the Beach Club, yes we could have just driven but our plan was to head to Epcot for Illuminations after dinner and I thought it would be easier to take a cab and not worry about either parking at Epcot or returning to the Beach Club to pick up the car.

Now DH doesn't bat an eye when I spend money on Disney trips, or add to my Precious Moments collection each trip at $100 a pop, but it KILLS him to spend money on a taxi. :lmao: This ride surpassed Thunder as the Wildest ride in the Wilderness, let's just say we got there very quickly, so we had plenty of time to spare so we went sight seeing aroungd the resort.

We had a great time at dinner, although I was pretty disappointed in our server, he was very slow with refills and bussing the table, not horrible but not very good either. This is one downfall of TIW, since everyone paid with it he automatically recieved an 18% tip, an amount he clearly didn't earn.

We spent so much time chatting at dinner and afterwards that we missed Illuminations, and no one thought to take a group shot so we don't have any to post, sorry.

Tammi, Bob and the kids were going to call it a night. We ended up joining Elizabeth and her family and headed to MK as it was open late that evening. The park was pretty crowded, but we managed to see Wishes from Tomorrowland before going on Indy, this is the only time that I had to pull out my inhaler, the fumes can get pretty intense. I had my own car and Ihave to confess I'm terrible at driving those things.

Our next stop was the Haunted Mansion, we went to Thunder from there, and Elizabeth's DS wanted to ride Splash, no one else wanted to take the chance of getting wet so I went, (you don't have to ask me twice ;))
we turned the corner by the water cannon, and since we were in the back seat and our log didn't get out of the way fast enough we got soaked. I had given DH my stuff to hold so I didn't have my camera to take a redneck shot of our picture, but Elizabeth you wold have been proud, DS had his hands up in the picture, we were the only crazy ones in our picture, everyone else was hanging on for dear life.

We took a ride on Pirates after that as we were making our way out of the park, we said good night at the bus stop and headed back to the resort. It was about 1 am by the time we made it to bed after getting back and showering, but that wasn't going to stop me from making rope drop back at MK the next morning.

With very little sleep we made it MK in time for rope drop. I had decided that I didn't want to bring any bags with me so I put my phone and inhaler in my pockets, gave DH my ticket and we headed out.

But I just can't pass this up without taking a picture so I ppulled out my phone,

I won't bore you with the details, but they of course included the Mountains, Philharmagic and Buzz. We ran into Tammi and her family in Buzz so we waited to say hi, we all went to Cosmic Rays for lunch and then said our good byes, DH and I had a collection of FP's so we headed off to Frontierland.

The park was getting crazy crowded so we decided to head out, we were just in time for the Celebrations dance party in front of the castle, once again I had to pull out my phone, I have never seen Lumiere or Sebastion before,

Debbie, all this time DS has been telling me he didn't see the Splash pic of you guys! He is so silly. Darn! I should have made DH wait inside and he would have taken a pic of the pic! :headache: Well, phooey!

Lindsay, I am glad you got to go home! YAY for Austin being born tomorrow! :yay:

Good morning, DDA!

I'm not sure he did see it, it was pretty crowded around the pictures, if we could make the schedule work I'm always ready to ride Splash for a retake!

After working like he has and staying out late the night before DH was pretty beat so we headed back to the resort for a break, he took a long nap and I was bored so what could I do to keep myself occupied? Why go shopping of course, so that's what I did while he slept. I couldn't go back without something for the kids now could I?

Originally I hadn't planned on making any ADR's for this trip but when the online reservations opened up I wanted to chck it out so I made a reservatiion at Prime Time for dinner,

They sat us at a table that was about two or three inches away from the one next to us, I really didn't cre for that, although she did a good job our server wasn't really into her part so that was a let down. Next time we go I'll ask for Cousin Janice, she's a hoot! We both had the fried chicken which was good but neither of us cared for the greens, they definitely didn't cook them like we do, we like ours with a "kick' to them.

They did add a new Sugar free cheesecake to the menu, and I definitely give it a thumbs up,

DH had a chocolate and carmel sundae which was definitely not sugar free but he said it was good,

We're going to give this one a break for a little while, but I'm sure we'll be back.

Here are the Citizens of Hollywood putting on a comedy show,

Since we had missed Illuminations in May and the night before we took the boat over to Epcot for the show, after strolling around for a little while we staked out a spot in Canada,

That would be great! :goodvibes

I agree about 50's. I ALWAYS ask for a fun server, and we always get one who is just "eh". Last time we went there it was for lunch, and I just wasn't thrilled with the menu. I figured it was because the lunch menu is different. But now there isn't anything on the dinner menu that thrills me, either. The very first time we went there they had a nice pasta, but now they don't have it anymore. Their portion sizes have also gotten WAY smaller, which is an issue for DH.
Those desserts look yummy!

Our portion sizes were fine, and the chicken has always been good. Our problem with Disney dining is the fact that we just aren't very adventurous, DH is a meat and potatos kind of guy, and I have problems with my restrictions finding sides that will do, when you take out potatos and white rice your sides are very limited. That was my problem with Ohana, I ended up with meat and broccoli, but the sugar free dessert there was very good.

DH doesn't know it but he's going to give Germany a try again in November, we haven't been there in years, but the last time we were the "vinegar" flavor in everything was pretty overbearing.

We love Germany, Debbie. I hope it works better for you next time.

Have fun today, Tia! :yay:

Lindsay... hold on to your little guy a little bit longer!! :goodvibes

Good news, Lindsay. Stay away from the Mag if you can. I had it 4 times before full-blown eclampsia. But, it was worth it for the babies.

It amazes me how much obstetric care has changed in 30 years or so! (That makes me sound ancient!!!! :rotfl: ) I had eclampsia with Kathrin and all they did was pop me in the hospital for a lot of the final 6 weeks of my pregnancy. No additional things like magnesium.

Well, everyone is gone, and it's entirely too quiet and empty around here. :sad1: I have a lot of prep work for preschool to get done, though, so I guess I'd better get started with that.

Have a great day, DDA!

Thanks for the updated TR, Debbie! The last time we ate at Cape May (Christmas Eve) they also took our TiW card and our service was horrible. I think from now on I am not going to tell the server we have it until after we are done eating and it is time for the check.

And we love Germany. Hopefully you guys will change your minds in November!

After finding a good spot along the fence in Canada we had a seat on the ground and waited for Illuminations. This gave us a different view to people watch, and if you like playing the "bad shoe" game we definitely had a good view for that. I just don't understand how some women can do Disney in heels :confused3

Tammi and her family dropped by for a bit on their way to find a spot for Illuminations closer to the International gateway. We were getting a bit nervous about the weather, there was plenty of lightning in the sky not far away, I tried to get a picture but I'm just to slow.

It wasn't long before Illuminations started,

This is DH's favorite evening show,

We made it on the bus before it started to rain and by the time we were back at the resort it was only sprinkling. We planned on getting an early start in the morning so we showered and called it a night.

We were up, packed and on the road by six, we had a pleasant drive home, we would stop every couple of hours and switch drivers so neither one of us was tired. We took our time and stopped for breakfast and lunch and still made it home around four so that wasn't bad. This is what was waiting for us at the house,

Love my babies :cloud9::cloud9:

Since it was a short trip it was also a short trip report, next up will be our short trip to crash Elin's trip.:banana:

Right now we're planning on going to MNNSHP on the 2nd, but I think I will wait to get our tickets when we arrive, just in case the weather is bad or anything.

Sounds like a good idea, just think we only have a little over three weeks!

Debbie - those are great pictures of Illuminations, and I love Aubrey's First Disney Bear! Did you get that this trip?
