Beth - It does get better, or at least different!

Anne Marie - :yay: Sounds like your new home is growing on all of you.

Beth - Hope he settles in quickly. Kind of odd to be there on such an empty campus for a few days, I'm sure. Where is he going again? Hope Mom's settling in too. :grouphug:

Anne Marie - Glad you're enjoying the first day of school! Hope the kids are too. ;)

Elizabeth - Hope Thursday is the magic key to fixing everything!

great dittoable!!:thumbsup2

I just got an e-mail response from Abi's teacher...she didn't talk to her:headache: my 13 year old can be such a bone head sometimes.

well...all 3 kids are in school.

I hope the 2 youngest come back with glowing reports.

Jackie had a tough first day of high school...I was so drained trying to talk things through. She is in ALL accelerated classes. Her closest friends are not...so she feels she has NO friends in her classes. I gave her the "you will make new friends speech" but it did not help. In one class, she is the only freshmen girl. PLEASE PLEASE let it be a better day today for her!!!

I am sorry it was such a rough first day:hug:That is one of the best parts of being in marching band...as a freshman Cassidy went into the first day of classes knowing 100+ people:goodvibes so it wasn't quite so intimidating.

I hope it gets easier quickly!!

My parents just sent me this email, and being the first week of school for many, I thought I'd share.

After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said:
"Let me see if I've got this right.
You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.
You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.
You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.
You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.
You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.
You want me to do all this and then you tell me. .. . I CAN'T PRAY?"

Beth -

Kristine - I hope things get easier for Jackie. Quickly.

Anne Marie - Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new town and your free time!

Theresa - continued :hug:s.

Tammi, we were there during marathon weekend last year, and the crowds weren't bad at all. MLK weekend is a different story.

Heidi,

:bday: Lindsay!

:bday: Janet!

I hope you both have wonderful days!

Elin, neat story about your new book! :goodvibes

Theresa, :grouphug: for a much better day!

Hope all the kids (and parents ;) ) are making the back-to-school transition with ease.

ROTC was a pretty impressive program at the high school where I worked. Of course, these were older kids, and I know the students picked this elective, though some of them were "recruited." Many have gone on to serve our country!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANET & LINDSAY

How many are up for an exchange??

We will do 5 exchanges 2 adult and 3 kids

Well, an update on things here - most importantly, we're still hanging in there! After seeing my doctor on Friday and having another ultrasound, it definitely looks like I'll be having a c-section. Austin is most decidedly all bottom first, and is unlikely to turn at this point - he's likely out of room for one thing. They're estimating that he's already about 6 lbs., and I'm measuring about 4 days ahead of my due date at this point. Based on all of this, my dr. has taken me off the meds that have (somewhat) controlled the contractions at this point, and we're looking at a scheduled c-section sometime the week of 9/14, assuming we make it that long. I'm no further effaced than I have been, nor am I dilating yet, so that's a good thing. I will say that the contractions I do have now seem stronger and more "productive" to me, but they're still somewhat infrequent. As my dr. said, the challenge now will be to retrain my brain from feeling and documenting every little thing as they wanted me to, to now accept and know when things are to a point that I need to take action.

At this juncture, I'm still to take it easy at home and just see how long we can make it. My prayer at this point is to just make it to the scheduled c, or have my labor start during the weekday, or when my doctor is on call. Knowing that I'll now be tacking on "surgery" to everything else, I'd really prefer to have my doctor doing the honors vs. one of her partners. I do already know that she's going to on call over Labor Day, so that's 5 days of coverage I don't have to worry about.

So, that's the latest. My mom was here for a while again to help finish getting things organized, and we're more or less "ready" at this point - just a few things left to hang in the nursery. I even have most of my bag packed for the hospital, and Jonathan is to pack his stuff today. It's a little surreal that we're getting so close, but I'm so ready to NOT be pregnant any more!

I can totally emphathize with you. With 3 pregnancies from h e ll I totally looked forward to labor and delivery, that was the fun part  If you're at 35 weeks everything should be fine. Hunter was born at 35 weeks:hug:

I am posting this early in case I do not have time in the morning.

Lindsay I hope you have a wonderful Birthday!

Happy Birthday Lindsay and Janet
Belated HB to Laura, Riley and Brandon

Oh boy. The weekend we are going in January is marathon weekend, so I was searching on the TPAS board about crowds when I came upon a link to all the marathon information. On Friday the 8th there is a 5K Family Fun Run, which translates to 3 miles. I think I would die if I attempted it. I've NEVER been a runner. I HATE it. It is painful (side cramps) and I hate to SWEAT. But still, I'm intrigued, plus it would be something fun and different for the kids and I to do!

You should do it. That will give you motivation to get in shape for it between now and then. Motivation is a great thing :thumbsup2

I plan to hit the gym afterwork everyday starting next week. I have no excuse as the kids will be in school. I still have a few week before I celebrate the 19th anniversary of my 21st birthday:lmao::lmao::lmao:

We're back and we had a

Fabulous
Wonderful
Amazing
Perfect
Couldn't have been better

Vacation

The weather was phenominal, travel was completely on time with no hickups, the resort was gorgeous, the food was better than cruise ship food, alcohol was included. We would go again without a second thought. The kids did very well with my parents and apparently behaved perfectly. My mother wasn't worn out this time and has actually commented several times since we've been back that her house is entirely too quiet :goodvibes

I'm going to try to put together a slide show, but probably won't do a trip report.

Tell Jackie to hang in there. I often had classes with mostly upperclassmen, and I made some great friends. In fact, the class of '89 just had their 20th HS reunion last weekend, and I wish I could have gone. I don't like (most of) my own class. :rotfl:

 to you, Beth.

Welcome home, Deb!

Sounds like a nice day, Anne-Marie. How's your mom?

How's your mom doing, Elizabeth? You made a reference to her the other day, but I can't remember a recent update.

Deb - Glad you guys had a good time!

Amy - My mom is doing fine, thanks! I don't talk to her as often now that she is "well". She is back at her little cafeteria lady job, Diva is back in school (she is a junior this year), nothing really going on. Which is good, considering the "something" she had going on last year! :thumbsup2

so what does a person put in google to get divorce help on the cheap??

I know it will be contested because Jim is delusional and I have no money at all (though I am betting I could borrow from my mom...but that's not 100% either because she isn't working either)

Theresa look for women's resource centers in your area. I'm sure they can give you lots of info on divorce, low income housing, food assistance etc.

Free legal aid, low cost legal aid, etc. Also include your zip code or name of your town if you want it to pull local resources.

Many attorneys have to donate a certain number of pro-bono hours each year, so maybe contact a few family law firms and see if they have anything like that available.

Hello, DDA!

Matthew is off at college. Somehow it still doesn't feel quite real and yet it feels as if something is missing or just not quite right. He is alone in his dorm room until Wednesday, because his department had early orientation. The "regular" orientation/move-in starts Wednesday afternoon. It did make it a lot easier not fighting the crowds, but he said that it felt like a ghost town last night. They are keeping him pretty busy today and tomorrow morning, so that will be good. He will get his schedule Thursday, and then we'll figure out how to get his books. It makes me nervous that he doesn't have a schedule yet or most of his classes.

I need to go back and read what I've missed.

:cake::bday::tink: Happy Birthday, Janet and Lindsay! :tink::bday::cake:

How far away is he, Beth? How are you doing with it?

great dittoable!!:thumbsup2

I just got an e-mail response from Abi's teacher...she didn't talk to her:headache: my 13 year old can be such a bone head sometimes.

If Abi is anything like Katie, she does not want any confrontation, at all! Katie would rather bury her head in the sand until her stomach explodes from all the stress.

I actually typed up the papers for my sister in law and she took them to the court herself and anly had to pay the filing fees, her's was uncontested and they had no children though.

Welcome home Deb! Where did you stay?
