Nope. I'm going to be selfish and go for MY birthday this time, since the other two in my traveling party have already celebrated their birthday in WDW.

But, of course, if their dad doesn't agree to changing that weekend in January (it's HIS weekend ), my other option would be December. It's a win-win situation for me.

So, as you all know... two weeks from today we will be at MagicMeets. Bob and I are driving up on Friday and coming home on Sunday. Friday we will drive through rural MD and into Gettysburg to revisit some of our old stomping grounds from the summer~fall of 1981 that we lived there. After we leave MagicMeets on Saturday we are going to drive back to Gettysburg to spend the night. There are some places we want to look at more closely and we also want to eat at one of our favorite restaurants there.

Unfortunately last week I didn't book the hotel we wanted and now the only rooms available are close to $200 a night. I am having a hard time justifying that and now Bob is a little unhappy with me. He was looking forward to staying here:

The Hilton Garden Inn is $50 less per night. Although there is nothing wrong with that chain, it is on the outskirts of town and he was really anticipating staying at this hotel on Lincoln Square in the center of town. I heard him telling Kristin all about it.

I wonder if I put my head in the sand and wait another couple of days if someone will cancel one of the cheaper rooms.

No one is suggesting that you cancel YOUR birthday trip. We are suggesting you add yet another birthday trip!

Um, yeah. With all these major purchases I'm making for the house, plus things going on at work, I'm not so sure that trip is still going to happen.

I just got a call from my kids. Their dad took them to King's Dominion today. Just the 3 of them. That's a pleasant surprise.

Um, yeah. With all these major purchases I'm making for the house, plus things going on at work, I'm not so sure that trip is still going to happen.

I figured that might be the case. Remember that our couch is still an option if you can work the other stuff out!

Me too... he said to go ahead and book the Garden Inn, but I think I will hold out a couple more days just in case.

I could book the AAA rate and not have to pay in advance. They have a slightly lower rate if you pay in advance, but it is only about a $10 savings overall. Maybe I will do that. I also might take a look at the B&Bs in the area. There are a TON of them.
