DDA Chapter 22

OK, HONESTLY, do I look old enough to have a 3 year old GRANDDAUGHTER? :scared1: Considering that Momboss is only about 5 years younger than I am, I wouldn't think her co-worker would assume I am Princess's GRANDMOTHER. We saw this lady at the mall, and she recognized Princess. Fine. Then she asked me if I am the GRANDMOTHER! Um, NO, but thank you so much for thinking that!

I suppose if I had Momboss when I was 18, and she had Princess when she was 18, and now Momboss is 21, then yes, I COULD be Princess's grandmother. But really? :sad2:

Elizabeth - I'm going to have to go with NO! Some people just don't think before they speak, do they?

I just got a call, the aunt that was diagnosed with lung caner - hospice has been brought in.

Thank you both.

I can't believe this will be the 4th sibling that my mom has lost. There will be only 5 left, that includes my mom.

Mine are off as well! Randy was dropping them off. We aren't supposed to accompany them in to school, but he said he saw Emmitt Smith taking his two in. UMMMM I'm thinking he probably won't get in trouble for bending the rules... :rotfl:
You know if i saw Emmitt, I would be following :goodvibes:

Im sorry Heidi

Im home and unpacking now :)

Heidi....I'm sorry. My dad died of lung cancer, eventually with hospice. I hope she won't suffer long and that a peaceful release comes quickly.

Welcome back Jen!

Elizabeth I do not think you look like a grandmother :goodvibes

Heidi sorry about your Aunt

Debbie, I need to borrow your "beating head on the wall" smilie. :headache:

DS's schedule is a bit of a mess.

He is to have math as early in the day as possible, per the neuropsych. He has mth 5th period.

They put him in PE AGAIN. The SAME, IDENTICAL, 1st semester PE he took last year. Idiots. He signed up for 2nd semester Boys' Spring Athletics.

They are not doing Language Arts and Reading as separate classes this year, which left him with an open elective slot. So they put him in ROTC! That is NOT an appropriate place for him.

I called the guidance counselor, who of course is so stressed that her head is about to pop off. I told her 1) He WILL be moved to an earlier math class (like 3rd period) 2) He will NOT repeat the same PE he has already done and 3) He will NOT be in ROTC. We never requested that and we were not given ANY other options. They WILL move him to Spanish, or Art, or Office Assistant or some other elective that I deem acceptable. She told me to call back Thursday or Friday. I think I will go in person. With the written report from the Dr. And I will situate myself in her office until she FIXES his schedule. The math thing is absolutely critical. I might be willing to let the PE slide, but they HAVE TO move him to the 3rd period math.

Apparently LOTS of kids were dumped into ROTC because that's where there was room. And of course that teacher sent NO info home today, so I can't really determine what will take place in that class. It IS a year long elective though, so I would prefer to get him out now.

I am sorry to hear about your aunt, Heidi.

Good luck with C's schedule mess, Elizabeth.

Thanks for the show information.

Unfortunately my car does not have an audio input jack. Some do, but mine does not, despite having pretty much everything else. There are instructions online on how to put your own in and I may get brave and decide to do that.:rolleyes1

Geez, what a headache the school year brings. I hope you get it straightened out, without much hassle.

Ok, and now I've held it in long enough............ROTC! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I didn't even know they still had that! And I can just see DS doing this:

Heidi-:wizard: to you and your family. Pardon the expression but cancer sucks.

Elizabeth- Hope you can get C a decent schedule

Jen- Welcome home.

Hi, everyone. Sorry, I didn't check in again yesterday! I missed all of Lindsay's posts!

Lindsay - I'm so thrilled that Austin has stayed put for you! Congratulations, you are almost there! Don't worry overly about the surgery. It really isn't that bad. Just listen to the nurses as they tell you how to get out of bed, and all that good stuff. Also, as soon as they will let you, walk, walk, walk! It really speeds up the healing! As soon as the numbness in my legs wore off, I was pestering them to let me walk.

Theresa - Any news on the dr.'s office??? I'm so sorry that things are yucky for you, right now! You are in my prayers!

Kristine - Sorry about the missed bus! How did Jackie like her first day of High School?

Tammi - Enjoy your last 2 weeks of summer! They will fly by so quickly!

Jennifer (tink) - I'm with you! Alan and I never let having a baby affect the way we did things. In fact, we took Katie to her first movie at 6 days old. She slept through it all, and it really took a lot of the fear out of parenthood for me. I realized that it's relatively easy to deal with an infant, as long as you are prepared. Taking Timothy to DL this summer was not as bad as I feared it would be. Of course, he wasn't mobile, so he really didn't mind being in his stroller for long stretches of time. It would be a bit harder, now.

Jennifer (blue eyes) - Welcome back from Texas! It sounds like you had a great trip! Good luck on your school starting up again. I'm assuming you'll be heading back to the classroom to start preparing soon, right?

Heidi - I'm so sorry about your aunt! Lung cancer is so cruel! By the way, thanks for the pierogi casserole recipe! My kids loved it so much! It is definitely a keeper for us!

Well, today was Katie's first taste of all the homework she is going to have over the next year (and into the future). She was a bit overwhelmed until we sat down and broke it up into manageable portions. I'm pleased to say she had all the science, math, English and keyboarding homework finished in under 2 hours! She still has some chapters in her English novel to read, but wants to do that at bedtime! I'm not worried about that girl reading!

The other kids came home with their first homework of the year, too. We managed to get it all done, without too much fuss, but I can see that Jacob is going to fight me to put it off. Our rule is to get it done right after school, and then you can play. Of course, he wants to play first and do homework later. Not a chance, bub!

I take Timothy for his 9 month checkup tomorrow. I'm anxious to see how much he weighs, etc. I can't believe that he's almost 9 months old! Crazy! That means it's been almost a year since my mom passed. That really seems odd to me! I still find myself picking up the phone to talk to her. I don't think that will ever stop, though. I've been quite sad about it lately. It's so sad to me to watch Timothy reaching all these milestones, and not be able to share with my mom. She was always so interested in the kids. I know she's still watching over us, but it's not the same.

Anyway, sorry to be a downer! I'm just grateful to have this group to turn to when I need a pick me up!
