DDA chapter 21

Thank you for all your good thoughts. We were able to get Hunter in to see a doctor at 8 AM. He hadn't eaten or had anything to drink so it was the best time to go. She did a quick glucose test and checked his urine for glucose. His fasting glucose level was within the normal limits and there was no glucose in his urine. That plus the previous blood panels make the doctor confident that he does not have diabetes. She listen to our concerns and gave him a thorough workup. She agrees that he is hypoglycemic, but thinks that that is the problem, she's confident that he has no underlying disease. I'm sure I approached it from every angle just to make sure. For now we are making sure that he eats every 2 hours and he will go to the school nurse once in the afternoon for a snack as he eats lunch at 11:40 and doesn't get home until 3. Hopefully this will help him maintain his glucose levels and stop the plummeting that has been happening. We are supposed to log any episodes that he has in the future. We also discussed his low weight and from a medical standpoint they feel (this is the 4th doctor I've asked) that he is at his perfect weight. He has been on the same growth curve for years now.

Thanks again for your support. Hopefully we can regulate this without too much trouble now that we recognize the problem.

Bernadette - I just had a chance to look at all of your trip pictures. They are amazing!!! You did a beautiful job. It looks like you two had a great time as well.

Deb - It sounds like a very thorough visit. I'm glad that you have a solution that will hopefully help him avoid further ups and down.

Marci - I am glad your PT is helping. I hope it continues to increase your range! :)

Has anyone heard from Lindsay lately? I have been thinking of her a lot! :goodvibes

And with this post...

Marci, good to see you posting! :goodvibes I hope the pian in your shoulder improves soon! :wizard:

I have not heard anything from Lindsay lately.

Congrats, Elin! :cool1: Arabella steals bags of bread and buns out of the kitchen. She isn't demented, she is just naughty.

Deb - It sounds like a very thorough visit. I'm glad that you have a solution that will hopefully help him avoid further ups and down.

Deb, hopefully Hunter will feel fine now that you have figured out the blood sugar issues! :wizard:

I have had these boxes for more years than I can remember. I finally put them together to send to my one sister living in Atlanta.

I used borders to paste on the boxesr
Beautiful! I'm sure your sister will love them.

Nice pictures Bernadette. Spring does seem to have finally come, I actually had the whole house opened up today.
Thanks! And thanks to everyone else for the compliments too!

Hello, everyone, we're home. We actually got home early yesterday morning. :) We had a great time other than the rain. ;)
Welcome back!

Good morning....I am so mad at myself. When we went to the beach on sunday it was so foggy you couldn't see more than 50 feet ahead of you, it was cloudy with a chance of rain & cold. So I did not slather up my kids as I usually do with sunscreen..I am so anal about sunscreen that I normally follow them around the beach reapplying while they are playing, after they eat & after they get out of the water...well for some reason I assumed that since it was so overcast & cold that they did not need it...WRONG!!! All 3 of my babies are burnt to a crisp & hurtin'...& I feel awful. :headache::headache::headache: They have never had a sunburn before let alone ones this bad.
:hug:So sorry! The worst burn I've ever had I got on a foggy day too.

It is a good morning here! Terra came running in a little bit ago and yelled, "Look, Mom! I'm running. And watch this...I can jump. If I can run and jump, I can do ballet!" Woohoo the toes are better!!

I was totally expecting to be at the doctor's office this morning with some xrays and who knows what else.

Kristi has a very promising interview today so fingers crossed for her! It would only be part time, but it provides her required supervision and the timing would also allow her to join a private practice and build up her own clientle. Things are really tight for them right now so I'm really hoping it all goes well today.

Phil has a doctor appointment today as well. He's got several returned symptoms right now and they've stuck around a lot longer than usual this time as well. I'm hoping that if they run some bloodwork while he's got symptoms maybe it will shed some new light on things.
Glad Terra's toes are all better! Hope things went well for Kristi and Phil today!:wizard::wizard:

I've been keeping up and sending you all good thoughts and congrats in my head... just not getting it typed out. I have much better range of motion in my shoulder now, but because of the stretching/pulling in PT it still hurts... a lot... The great news is they think I'll get all my range back, so I keep doing my exercises and trying to use that arm/shoulder as much as I can.

My boys are still incredibly busy. I'm averaging 5 hours of sleep at night, even most weekends, and we have multiple events in multiple cities several times a week. Rec soccer and Rec baseball should slow down in the next couple of weeks, and school is out for Jake this Thursday, and for Andrew this Friday. Andrew is really struggling with reviewing for finals which isn't a surprise with his memory problems. We'll all be glad when they're over.

Have a great day everyone. :)
Glad you're getting range of motion back in your shoulder. Hope things slow down a bit for you soon!

And with this post...
Congratulations!!!

Thanks! I'm ready to go back! Notice I haven't taken my old ticker off yet. I should replace it with one for Emma's birthday trip but I still don't believe that will really be my next trip.;)

Bernadette - I hear August is nice at WDW. :rolleyes1

I can not tell you how much I want to do that! I just don't see how I could go in August and not take the kids. I think I have to tell DH that I just am NOT up for a LONG road trip to Canada. I would rather do say a week long trip to Niagra Falls and then a week in Disney.

We are also doing a couple nights on the Cape with DH's family.

SOOOOOO......what are everyone's August dates?

Kids are allowed. Your kids are well behaved, so they can come. ;)
August 1-15 for us.

I have been looking for some New Balance mule style shoes. Can't find what I need online, Kohl's is sold out of my size, DSW is too expensive, Dillard's only has them in black (too hot!), the New Balance store has them in black or some other funky color, and the ones at Nordstrom Rack are just not exactly right.

We did find some sneakers for DH at Rack, and another pair of Ecco sandals for DS (same style as the ones he has, different color).

I stopped in a boutique near the New Balance store and bought swim trunks and 2 shirts for DS. Oh, and a pair of shorts. :rolleyes1 All of it was on sale, and if you bought 3 or more items you got 20% off the sale price.

I am ready to go to WDW now. If it would just be AUGUST! :bitelip:

Marci - So glad to see you posting. I was thinking of you the other day. I'm glad to hear your therapy is progressing.

Hi everyone, we made it back from Sea World, although we didn't avoid bad weather.

Hi Debbie! How was it? Was the VIP tour worth is? How are you feeling today?

:wave2: Hi, Everyone!

Deb - I am glad you were able to get Hunter in to see the doctor today. Sounds like a good plan is in the works to stave off any majoe episodes. I hope it really helps him feel beter.

Debbie - How did you like the VIP tour at Sea Word?

So I told DH I wasn't up for a long road trip. In the past when we've gone to Atlantic Canada-we've been at least 5 times-we've always driven at least 3,000 miles. I just don't see that as fun with the kids yet.

He said we should still get passports to have them. I'm OK with that and he was interested at looking into Niagra Falls but the kids would probably have a good time just going to the White Mountains.

He didn't say no to a week at Disney. I did find "reasonable" airfare for lots of dates. I also found a few rooms at summer rates. I did find a few discounted rooms-all star music family suite, BC/YC or GF club level, AKV-1 BR Jambo. I wonder if DH would like AKL-something new for him. He doesn't like the idea of DVC because he says he doesn't want to cook but just having the extra room would be nice. We did use the kitchenette in the suite last year so we would use the kitchen in a villa. I want the washer/dryer.

Tomorrow is my h e double toothpick day with a very long work schedule. I'll be glad at this time tomorrow.

Hunter says that he has felt better today, though he took a nap at my parent's house :sad2: I'm not sure what to make of that.

I was offered a permanent Saturday night bartender position at the restaurant. Unfortunately I'm not willing wot give up every Saturday. In fact I'm already busy for the next 6 Saturdays. It was nice to be asked though.
