Before I forget and while I have time this morning, I wanted to post the short story about "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" at DLR for Glynis. This may possibly be one of those stories that was only funny if you were there when it happened, so forewarned...
On one of my Yamaha training seminar trips to CA, I was fortunate to have a great group of teachers from all over the country. There were probably 30 of us being trained at the time and we got to be very close in a short amount of time together. We decided to go to DLR our last afternoon/evening for some much-needed and well-deserved R&R. Believe it or not, I was the only person who had ever been to a Disney park at that point!
And about half our group were originally from the former USSR and China. They had a BALL. All the joy and delight of a first trip to a Disney park was obvious for the entire time. We giggled like little kids and really did a lot of relaxing. When I suggested a trip to see "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" at the Golden Horseshoe they were excited but perplexed. Try explaining what a hillbilly is to someone from another country whose English is just passable. It was a riot. Maybe even more fun to watch their faces as they watched the show. They all came up with descriptions of groups of people in their home countries who fit the same stereotype of our hillbilly. But agreed that they would have had a hard time explaining to us what they were!
