DDA Chapter 19

I want our old pediatrician back The new rule is NO cough medicine at all for kids. If you heard my kids you would cringe. I finally just gave Delsym to Colby though I had resisted as told, but the poor kid needs a break. Hopefully we can all get a nap soon.

When I was at the ped. yesterday she was telling me about a new study that just came out. Of 3 remedies for coughs, Robitussin came in 3rd, Delsym 2nd, and a teaspoon of honey did the best. I gave Alyssa Delsym this morning and she hasn't been coughing too much. She doesn't like honey. My ped. also asked if it was keeping her up and night and was ready to prescribe something with codeine in it until I told her no.

Her teacher called this morning to check on her. Teacher talked to Alyssa, telling her how much they missed her and all, and then the whole class gave a collective HI ALYSSA into the phone. It made her feel really good.

Our ped doesn't even want to see the kids. They said the fever is lasting 5-7 days and the cough 2 weeks or more. They know that they boy's coughs are keeping them up, but it's too soon to do anything.

Wow, it sounds like our peds are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Mine kept having me bring her in to check for different things. She said it was unusual for the fever to be lasting for a week. So Alyssa has been through 2 strep tests and 2 finger pricks for blood work-ups. Dr.'s main concern, she said, is for a secondary infection, such as Mersa, when her immune system is down.

Olivia has had a cough for a week now. Thankfully hers has not bothered her at night. She does have a runny nose and now the runs. No fever. Virginia has not had fever since the 7th but has a runny nose, cough and is starting to get the runs.

All our kiddos and us need to get well soon

She's still got a real congested cough, but she's back at school, just in time for Spring Break.

Mom just called, the viewing for my uncle is tomorrow night from 6 - 8PM and the funeral is on Friday at 10 AM. I will try to go to the viewing as I don't want to miss more work. As it is I'm not sure I'll even make it to work tomorrow. I seem to be feeling much better than the rest of the family though. Maybe all the heat and humidity would be good for me. The humidity is supposed to be great for the cough.

its a good thing my mom does not have the girls tomorrow. she just called me and its coming out both ends but no fever.

My friend Liz (twin girls and pregnant with triplets) just had another ultrasound..... 2 more girls and a boy!

Heidi what was your dream?

I was with Janet, Chanon and someone else (couldn't see the face) we were in some city on vacation. We went swimming and Janet meet some one, and he was with us the rest of the trip. From there I got on a bus and the driver said that she would take us to get lunch, we had to poke her arm and that would determine who got to eat at the fancy resturant. After that she drove off leaving without Janet, Chanon and the other 2 saying she had to get home. Turns out the driver was running a scam and got fired because I was wearing a wire and taking pictures for her boss. I did meet up with everyone back at the bus station.

I told you it was weird.
