DDA Chapter 19

We had movie night tonight and watched Beverly Hills Chuhuahua. It was cute.

We watched that this morning. I missed part of it in all of the craziness, but it looked cute.

According to one source, the loss since they dropped the characters was close to $250,000. :scared1:

Wow. That's a lot of money. Though, I have to admit, I'm not sure that I would book there without the characters.

Jennifer,

The guy Lindsay is talking about is very professional, he has a contract already set up. He also owns a lot of points at several different resorts, he rents his points for a bit more than most are renting for on the boards, but you can definitely worry less dealing with him.

We are in the process of renting points for our November stay, and are paying $10.00 pp, making it possible to stay at a value studio at AKL for less than it would cost to stay rack rate at Pop.

As Elin pointed out, you have to be very sure of your plans when renting because it's not wasy for the renter to make last minute changes, and in many cases if you have to cancel you will lose your money. Lindsay's guy does have a few different clauses in his contract where you can retrieve some of your money.

We really enjoyed our stay at OKW, we were in a studio in the Turtle Creek area. The extra space we had was great and we'll be staying there in May with Brandon, we have requested to be near HH this time, so that we can spend time at the main pool. Our first stay we did the dining plan but we won't be on the next two, we got the TIW card and are going to use that instead.

And, although we seem to be in the minority.... we won't book it with the characters. :upsidedow

I wish I would have taken notes,

Heidi - I hope all is well with your Mom

Becky - I hope all is well with your dad, love your pictures.

Jennifer - Welcome home, can't wait to see more pictures

Amy - Welcome home, love Noah's pictures.

Janet - Welcome home, sorry you couldn't convert Gary

Marci - I keep telling myself "This too shall pass"

Elin and Tammi - Sorry it's snowing again, Mother Nature has gone nuts this year

Tia - Sorry about Connor, Congrats on the Target job

Theresa - Hang in there

Tammi, I'm so sorry to hear about Shane! :( I hope you all are doing a bit better now, I'm sure that's so hard! The picture Bob took before you left is beautiful!

Welcome Wendy!

Tom and Robyn, way to go on the weight loss! I'm afraid to weigh myself. I never gain on Disney trips (all the walking?) but I think I did this time..... ugh. Oh, well. I suppose I need to get my act together!

And, although we seem to be in the minority.... we won't book it with the characters. :upsidedow

That's because you have daughters who don't like the characters. I only have one that doesn't care for them and we hide her in the corner so they can't get to her.

Tom, wonderful pictures!

Speaking of pictures, I went through all of mine today. 2294 pictures, pared down to something like a few hundred...... my eyes were crossing towards the end but I wanted to get them finished before my family came over tonight. There are some cute ones, but then again I'm probably biased ;)

I'm not sure when I'll be able to get started on a TR because the inlaws are visiting this weekend (couldn't I have come back to a different reality at least?!), but as soon as I get the photopass card from Kyle I'll at least provide the link. I think most of our character interaction is on there, because the girls mostly ignored the characters at dinner in favor of food :teeth:

Thanks Jennifer. I was just reading your blog and looking for updates and pictures. :rolleyes1

Becky - I enjoyed your pictures! WTG!! I hope your camera situation is not as "dead" as you think. :(

Lindsay - I don't like Angel Food cake either.

I am hoping that it is just that the batteries died, as by the end of the trip I no longer had a battery charger. This was due to one of the hotel glitches. I keep going back and forth over whether I want to post what happened here. As I do not want anyone to get a bad impression. But at the same time I know just about everyone will ask for a PM. I still have to write and send the letter to WDW. So I have decided to write it and post it here, but make the text clear and you can highlight it to read it if you want to. It is quite long.

So the first night I get to All Star Movies around midnight, have a very nice cast member check me in. I move my car and get to my room. The first thing I notice is a pack and play, which I did not request. Then I notice that there are dirty wet towels on the counter. There also was a bunch of trash in the trash cans. So I call guest services, am on hold for almost an hour. They tell me that the can move me to another room. They say they will call back to let me know what room. About 15 minutes later I get a call telling me what room number. They will be sending someone over to give me my new room key. The same guy who checked me in brings my key. He says that he will remove my room cost for the first night. Which has yet to be removed. By the time I get to the next room it is about 2:30am. They did not tell me what building I am in, but I check my map and figure out where to move to.

I was OK with the solution to this problem, had the full solution happened and would have still probably written WDW a letter just to let them know what happened. But the other issue that happened was way worse then the first and because of it I will never stay at the All Star resort again.

Thursday night I get back to my room. I am taking my shoes off and throwing them to where my bag is. I notice that my huge duffel bag is not there. I scan the room and do not see it anywhere. Then I realize my bookbag is gone to. My toiletry bag is not in the room either. So I call guest services, as I am on hold I check the chest of drawers and everything that was in the drawers is gone as well. My snacks and drinks are gone off the top of the cupboard. :scared1: :scared1: The only stuff that is in the room is furniture and Disney stuff. What the heck is going on? Where is all of my stuff????:confused3 :confused3 Who the heck would steal a bottle of water or dirty underwear?

So I call guest relations again. Am on hold about 30 minutes. I am connected with a manager who says it is the strangest thing she has ever heard. Asks if I was moving rooms? We try to figure out if they thought I should be in my original room, but someone else is there. Was my sutff packed up or out? As bell services/ mousekeeping is not supposed to move stuff that is out or in drawers. She takes down information and says she will try to figure out what happened and will call me back.

About an hour later she calls me back and says they have found my stuff. Someone transcribed a number of a room that was supposed to be moved and my rooms stuff got moved by accident. They tell me they will have bell services move my stuff back to my room. About 45 minutes later I get my stuff back.

I checked everything out to see if everything was there. Well it was not. Everything that was in the chest of drawers is still missing. So I call guest services again. Am eventually transferred to the same manager I previously talked to. Told her I was missing stuff yet. She has me tell her and describe what is missing. Camera, Battery charger, pajamas, 3 whole outfits including socks and undergarments, and a pair of shoes.

They are going to check lost and found bell services and other places to see if they can find my stuff. I get a call back later that night that they have yet to find my stuff. They will call me tomorrow to let me know if they find my stuff and the next steps. I head to bed and crash as I planned on going to bed early and it was now 3-4 hours later.

In the middle of the day Friday I head back to the resort to see if I have a message but nothing yet. When I go back at the end of the day I have a message to call another manager. I wait on hold and then am told she is with another guest and will call me. I wait awhile and decide I am going down to the front desk and no longer waiting for a call. They still have not found my stuff but are still looking. They are going to check with the people who cleaned my room or were supposed to move my stuff. I will be called on Saturday.

Saturday I leave bright and early and return late at night and have had no call. Sunday I go to guest services in the middle of the day and demand to the manager I have some sort of resolution. As I have been missing my stuff for almost 4 days now and they still have not found my stuff.

The manager offers me $100 to replace my missing stuff. I tell her that is not enough money to replace my stuff. I say it will cost $200-$250 to replace the stuff I lost. She says she needs to go talk to someone else. Turns out she went and talked to bell services. The maximum amount of money they give out for luggage issues is $150.

I tell her this is not a normal issue as they were not supposed to touch or move my stuff at all. She apologizes but says she can only give $150. So I am given $150 cash and leave. But am not happy with this solution, as it is not my fault that any of it happened.

Robyn I hope Mo is better soon :wizard:

Bernadette I hope Emma is feeling better :wizard:

Glynis  Hope you enjoyed your dinner :goodvibes

She looks like she's not so sure about Minnie,

I wasn't expecting it to be this hard. Stupid, huh? I guess you're never too old to want your mommy, right?

Nope, my mothers date is coming up soon & she is on my mind constantly.

that's what we are picking up right now!!

Becky-you always have the most beautiful pictures:goodvibes Hope your dad is okay

Nope, my mothers date is coming up soon & she is on my mind constantly.

My dad's is in 10 days and I've been thinking about him a lot in the last week or so. He would be 70 this year. I can't believe it is over 10 years now.

That's because you have daughters who don't like the characters. I only have one that doesn't care for them and we hide her in the corner so they can't get to her.

and both of mine were so bummed when they took the characters were away...it was the only character meal they wanted to do on the next trip for sure.

It was our best character experience, other than Beauty and the Beast (for me:cutie: )
