DDA Chapter 17

The play group that we NEVER remember to go to is proposing a change to their meeting time. They want to meet later in the day (4 PM) or switch to mornings. Princess has school Wednesday mornings, so maybe we can STOP GOING! :cheer2: Princess doesn't really know any of those kids, and the group keeps getting bigger. I think there are 12 kids in it now (plus siblings) which makes it impossible to meet anywhere other than the park or the mall play area. Princess REALLY prefers to play with her friends from school or the neighborhood so I would LOVE to bail out of play group!

Good luck with the inauguration traffic! My niece is there with her university marching band. They were asked to come, and fund raised their hind ends off! They were able to charter a flight, and are there, now. I think it would be a neat thing to be able to tell your kids about!

I'm glad Alyssa is liking tap class. I loved taking tap in college.

If you like Ballet Shoes, you ought to get the books for Alyssa. There are a series of "shoe" books that are really fun. Katie loved them. I think she read them when she was 8. Skating Shoes, Ballet Shoes, Theater Shoes. I think that's all, but there may be more.

Jim and our college band played at the first Bush's inaugration...it is a cool thing to think about. The Windsor High School band is there also. Windsor, CO was nearly demolished by a tornado about 8 months ago. Windsor HS came back to win the 3A state with borrowed instruments and uniforms that they didn't get until mid-season.

Lots of Pixie Dust for you Anne Marie!

I hope that Daniel's chest pains turn out to be nothing!

Good luck with the eye doctor. My sister got contacts when she was your Katie's age, and did just fine with them.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an offer. More particularly, for the offer YOU want to get!

what Glynis said Anne Marie!!

So the weekend did have one downfall...

Sunday morning I get a phone call...our hot water heater died and bled 20+ gallons of water in the basement before it was caught. She was able to get the water and gas turned off ok. So I head down to the hotel lobby and hopped online to see what a new water heater would run and installation. So I'm looking at $400 for a 40 gallon water heater and installation of $289 from Home Depot. From a local plumber, installation started at $650. :faint:
So on a whim, I call my neighbor...a retired pipefitter. Just to make sure that it's really broke and maybe see if I could buy a hot water heater Monday and leave him my keys so he could install it at his convenience during the week. He said no problem - I'll go look now.
He called one more time saying he recommended a certain water heater that ran $450...this was around 12:30pm.
Around 6:30pm I get a phone call. We have a hot water. Apparently he BOUGHT the water heater, brought it home with him from Home Depot, and installed it. He said he'd let me know when he gets the bill for his CC.

Talk about neighborly!

What a great neighbor:thumbsup2

I remember when that was play group. Sounds like she is having a great Monday.

Good Morning all!!

Cassidy seemed to have a fun time last night....the boy picked her up a half hour early to take her to Bride Wars (he let her choose between that and Twilight) and they were home within a half hour of the movie ending. :goodvibes

I feel a bit better today...still can't hear but at least the pain elsewhere is less and more localized. Though I am exhausted....I couldn't fall asleep last night again.

Has anyone on here tried the stretchable iron-on transfers? I am considering some for the Princess Half Marathon but don't want to spend $30 or more for the wicking material and then ruin it with an iron on transfer.
I have to agree with Becky in that you probably couldn't use a hot enough iron to do the transfer on that fabric. I like Deb's idea of a button!

Ice skating was fun. Alyssa lasted longer than I thought she would. She is definitely not athlete material. If it doesn't have anything to do with being girly or dainty, she's not interested. Nicholas brought along one of his little girlfriends, so they were off scooting around the ice. Bethany just keeps on plugging away no matter how many times she falls. She hasn't figured out if it hurts, QUIT!

We came home, I ran to the grocery store, and then we cooked burgers on the grill and had a picnic as kick-off started. Very good game so far.
Sounds like fun!

It was a beautiful day here but I have something wrong with me...I am in agony from my neck to my knees and still can't hear out of my ears. We decided to try and find Abi some new shirts (the girl is 5'7" and is not stopping)because she constantly stretching most of her shirts to cover belly. We found ONE shirt for her but I happened upon a $2 dress at Lane Bryant for myself.:cool1:

The football game on now just looks so painful :scared: for the players.

We also started getting Abi's 13 presents this weekend.

So far we have:

a baking box-will be a covered dish/pan with a mix and 12 items needed for baking/cooking

a hair pretty bucket-a cute tin with 13 hair pretties in it.

writing-for this one we have a few writing/coloring items picked out.

we will be getting for sure:

a new water bottle with 13 straws in it
a Vera Bradley book cover (if I can find one...a regular one if I can't) and 13 bookmarks

after that I am out of ideas.....anybody??

Cassidy is on her first official date that didn't involve a school dance or a group of other people. I swear she was just Avery and Elise's size. :sad2:
Hope you're feeling better! Those are great ideas. When is her birthday?

their is a design thread that does book marks that are Disney
I'll have to look for that! I wanted to get Lizzy a book for the plane so I can read my camera manual.

Bernadette I hope that Lizzy is feeling better. Dealing with sick kiddos when the parent's are tired is not a good thing.
Thanks! She slept well last night and has had some toast this morning. Now she's bored so she must be feeling better. I'm glad she didn't miss any school with this as she'll miss 4 full days and 2 half days for our trip. Maybe this will give her some immunity to some of the stuff going around down there.

Work was much busier than I anticipated. I actually waited on more people than I did on Friday. Of course there was only 4 waitstaff so that helps. On the weekends we have 8 waitstaff.

I also got some good news about memberships at the new aquatics center. We can save money by getting a one year membership and having it deducted monthly rather than having to come up with a big lump sum now. If we were to just do a monthly contract it would be $137/mth, but getting a yearly contract and having it deducted monthly is about $85/mth. That is a huge savings. Nick and I are going to try to tour the facility tomorrow since Colby and Hunter are staying at my parent's house tonight. Hopefully this will be the missing link in our weight loss plans here.
Yay for a good night! The aquatic center sounds great! Are they interviewing for staff yet?

Today is my weigh in (WW's) & I am down 11.5lbs so far.:cool1:

We are off to the pediatric cardiologist for Daniel. He has been having chest pains & I want to have him checked out. He had them years ago & the Dr's said it was nothing but now he is complaining about them again & with more occurance.

Then off to the eye Dr for Katie so she can get new glasses & or contacts.

We have 2 people who saw our house yesterday that were reshows (one lady came 3 times & brought her kids) One is coming again this afternoon. The realtor thinks they will both be making offers which would be nice.

Hope you all have a great day & stay warm.
Congrats on doing so well with WW!!!! pixiedust: Good luck with Daniel, Katie and the house!

45 days people! :cool1:

:teeth: Kyle and I love this mark. For whatever reason, the trip starts to feel close at this point. I think it stems back to our May 2007 trip when we were SO overwhelmed with work, etc and moaned about having 45 days to go, how long it would be, how much we desperately needed that vacation... Somehow, we both remember exactly where we were (in our respective workplaces) during that conversation, and then remember leaving for that trip recalling how quickly 45 days really went! Every trip since, it starts to feel real from here!

Aack! Which means I need to get my butt in gear to figure out how to pack (considering I max out our checked baggage with just the 2 of us, and can't do that anymore (hush Elizabeth!)), how to get through the airport, make a final decision on carseats (gate checking (ridiculous pain in the butt x2) vs renting (extra money, giving up the ease of Emerald Aisle)), etc. Maybe it's a good thing Kyle's on call tonight.... I can start getting my act together! :hourglass :scratchin :hyper:
Are they still in infant seats? I have one of those car seat bags. The thing is HUGE. I wonder if you could fit 2 car seats in one bag?

I used to send a box UPS to the resort with extra clothes and things. It really helped as DH isn't a good traveler.

So the weekend did have one downfall...

What a great guy!!!!

I remember when that was play group. Sounds like she is having a great Monday.

This was a group she was in with the previous nanny. The moms in that group all hang out together so they come off as very clique-y. There are not many girls in the group. Princess has no use for the boys because they are wild. She tends to stand back and watch them with a look of shock and disgust on her face.
There are 2 girls she likes (they both came to her birthday party) but the majority of the time those little girls don't attend.
Momboss replied to the e-mail that Princess has school on Wed. morning. I wasn't planning to reply - I was planning to observe and see which way things were trending. Hopefully they will scrap the Wed. PM thing and we will be free!:rotfl:

Glad Cassidy's date went well! :thumbsup2
I hope your ears get better soon! Do you think it is some sort of virus?

Here's the T I made for Lizzy to wear for our arrival at the Polynesian. She'll need a long sleeve T here and we arrive at MCO around 7:30pm so I think the long sleeves will be good. I just checked the long range forecast and some days are back up into the high 70's but one day is high 61 and a few lows in the low 40's. Looks like we'll be packing a little bit of everything.

So PJ's were never even on my to do list but I couldn't resist this fabric last week at JoAnn's for $2/yard. She was looking so pathetic yesterday that I had to make her these-hoping it would cheer her up.

And here is the dress I made for Halley's American Girl Doll but I was supposed to cut 2 skirt pieces instead of just one. I might try to make her another one and let Lizzy have this one.

Uncle1 e-mailed me Saturday and asked me when we are going to get together for DS's birthday. I got the e-mail less than an hour after he sent it, and I replied with several days/times that we are available. He still hasn't replied to let me know if any of those days work, or if he has to consult with Uncle2, or what.

I am really irritated that he didn't bother to say ANYTHING about it, like "I'll look at my calendar and let you know." The fact that I still don't know where we stand with them going to WDW is making me more snarky than usual. :rolleyes2

Bernadette - CUTE! The shirt is perfect for the Poly. I love the pajamas, too! I think the dress for the doll looks fine. Aren't you in a bit of a time crunch? I would probably give the doll dress to Halley and get on with your other projects! ;)

Chanon, Good Neighbors are hard to find. You are so lucky to have one that is handy in fixing things. He went way beyond and then paying for it up front too!!!

Anne Marie, Congrats on the weight loss. Hope you get a bid on the house soon. :goodvibes

Hi everyone! It's been a long time! I'll try to keep up but don't know how well I'll do ;)

So good to see you, Kelli!!! Welcome back.

Good morning!

Congratulations on everyone losing weight & especially exercising!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Today is my weigh in (WW's) & I am down 11.5lbs so far.:cool1:

Now if I could just exercise things would be great.

Congrats on the weight loss and even more on the possible house offers. That is great news all around. I hope the cardiologist can give you some answers for Daniel.

45 days people! :cool1:

Almost there! Couple of comments on the carseats... 1) The couple of times I rented one for Terra, they were pretty gross. Not too clean, etc. Maybe not the best choice for tiny ones. She was older at least. 2) I was able to check Terra's carseat in Dec. It didn't cost anything additional and didn't count towards my bag allowance. This was America. We paid $15 for the suitcase, but nothing on the car seat. You could put them in clear plastic bags for protection and just check them. 3) If you do decide to gate check, then maybe put them in bags there as well first.

What a great neighbor! I'm glad it was all fixed so quickly.

I'm glad you're feeling a little better. Terra and I were both sick on Saturday with some stomach thing (her worse than me), plus I had something else going on too that was more cold-like. Luckily, it was short lived, though her appetite hasn't really returned yet.

Bernadette those are some great projects done. I hope that you find time to relax soon.

Jen I'm glad you got to see your grandmother. I'm sure she enjoyed your extra visit as well.

Elizabeth good luck getting out of play group. I never took my boys to any play groups. We always managed to keep plenty busy without those.

Colby woke up with a cold at my parent's house today. I gave him a dose of dimetap when I picked him up and that seemed to help. We went to Kohl's and bought Nick an ensamble for his Ball tomorrow. He didn't want to go as dressy as a vest or suitcoat so we found dress pants, a dress shirt and tie. All in the Men's Dept  and it was only $33 :cool1: He still needs to try it all on (he tried the shirt on at the store) and find dress shoes. I think he will probably wear Chris' dress shoes as he didn't find any that he liked and they wear almost the same size. Now we are home and they are supposed to be doing homework.

Well, I'm caught up again. I read, but still feel like I missed some things. As I mentioned, Terra and I were both sick on Saturday. Plus, my back has been hurting off and on for 2 weeks. Friday and Saturday is was the worst it's been and I wasn't up for moving much, on top of being sick. On top of that, my recurring stomach issues (IBS-like) decided to come back on Friday as well. Really, do I need 3 issues at one time?!?! Luckily, this morning I woke up with my back barely hurting at all. I'm really hoping that's a permanent thing and not just temporary like the week before.

Today, we're just taking it easy since it's the first quiet day all weekend. All of the kids were here part to most of Saturday and then everyone was here most of Sunday. Not quite the peaceful weekend I was hoping for. My charge's mom did not have a holiday today so I am working, but then she's easy to care for. It's already a good day though as I actually remembered to take Terra to dance. For some reason last week, I didn't even think about it being dance day until 5 hours after class time. :sad2: I felt so bad.

With any luck, another mom is taking Kassie to dance tonight and I can just take it easy the rest of the day. Oh yeah, I gotta pick up my husband. Hmmm, wonder what time he gets off of work. I don't think he mentioned that. They've changed the "team" he's on at work and with it his schedule. Now he goes in around 8:30 or 9:30, which is nicer than 6am except for now having to pick him up sometimes around 5 in the middle of the baby's pick up and dinner prep, etc. He is driving himself more so that's not as big a deal anymore, plus the savings on gas.

Well, I think I'm going to go in an make some cookies. Seems to be a regular Monday activity lately. Have a good day everyone!

Nick and I stopped by the aquatic center to fill out a membership form to make sure that we have a membership reserved when it finally opens. They have a trailer outside that is the current office. I mentioned that I had applied for a lifeguard/WSI position, but hadn't heard anything. Oddly enough, the lady that I was talking to was the aquatics director. She asked me a few question then told me I was hired :rotfl: :rotfl: Of course she hasn't even seen my application. I just emailed it directly to her so hopefully I'll hear back. I'm not sure if she was serious or not, though she said she was. They are hoping to do a lifeguard course within the next couple of weeks. I guess I might have a job. I told her I was most interested in mornings which is what she was hoping for and she was pleased to see an older person applying. I guess she has lots of 16 year old that are interested. I told her that I have a degree in Small Business Management and she said that I just keep getting better and better. :goodvibes Like I said I'll believe it when I have an official offer, but it certainly has me hopeful. It would be nice to actually have a job fall into my lap for once. And I would get a free membership if I work at least 20 hours each week. I'm not sure if that is an individual membership or family, but it is a start anyway.
