DDA Chapter 17

SSR. We'll be using my friend's developer points. :goodvibes :cool1:

Well then, we definitely need to plan this. We are up for just about anything. Dinner at Raglan Road, breakfast at Boma, eating and drinking around the World Showcase for F&W... we have no definite plans yet so we can do anything we want! :goodvibes

Hi Lindsay! It's so good to hear from you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Debbie - I think you are right. Just like the airlines needing to charge for baggage because of high fuel prices. Um, I think fuel is lower now that it has been in years. Why isn't the baggage fee still here??? I'm sure that will never go away now.

Lindsay, we have missed you!

The airlines were already operating with no profit, so raising fares and charging for bags is their "recovery" plan. Unless they start posting record profits they won't take the fees away.

Happy Birthday Karen.

Happy Birthday, Karen! :cheer2:

Yes it is, but we are nervous about using ME.

We have never had a problem with ME. Hopefully it will go well for you guys! :wizard:

Well, it is Tuesday the 13th. :scared: I have already gotten an e-mail from the mom of one of DS's friends telling me the Saturday of his party is a huge band competition thing. :headache: DS isn't in that, but 2 of his 5 friends are. :sad2: She wasn't CERTAIN that is the date of the competition, but I bet it is. That means we will have to bring those 2 boys home late Friday night or early Saturday morning, depending on what time the competition starts. Or perhaps their parents will volunteer to come get them. We'll see how that unfolds. Of course there has to be some complication.

Anne Marie - We can definitely move the DDA dinner to Friday 8/14.

Debbie - I am sorry about your vacation accrual being switched around. Hopefully by the time we are 90 days out you will know more! :wizard:

Hi, all,

Long time, no talk!
...

Well, this went much longer than intended, so I'll sign off for now, and see you guys tomorrow. Night night, DDA!

Hi, Lindsay! Thanks for finding us... you have been missed! I am selfishly glad you have the time to spend with us but especially happy that your company made a package available to you that allows you to take some time to think about what you want to do from this point forward.

Your December trip sounds like it was wonderful. And the time in FL with your parents will be perfect too.

I will look forward to hearing more from you tonight! Welcome home. :goodvibes

Tammi and Anne Marie - I find it hilarious that we met for breakfast this summer here in Fredericksburg and you two don't even like that meal! :rotfl2:

I think that I forgot to mention that we did buy the van today. Chris will have to arrange to have it moved to his dealership and he will need to get a motor for it. The outside looks really nice, with no rust, but then again everything around here is covered in snow so you can't see it all. The inside needs a good cleaning, but seems fine. Apparently the owner NEVER had the oil changed, ever. It is a 2003. It only has 62000 miles on it so I should be able to get a couple of years out of it. This is what it should look like

Very cool!

Scraplifting. Have a terrific day Karen!

Elizabeth -- is today the day your Mom starts radiation? Sending more PD to her.

I finally have a drive with the vacation pics on it, so during lunch I'll post a few.

Have a good day DDA!

Colby came home from school very excited today. The teacher had sat all of the kindergartners in a circle and placed wooden letters in the middle. She went around the circle asking each kid to pick up a specific letter. Colby said that all of the other kids got some wrong, but he got all of his right :cool1: Chris and I played it with him tonight and he got every single letter correct :cool1: We are so proud of him. Apparently it did sink in over time. Nick just asked me to help him with etiquette. I had to look up the answers for each question because I wasn't sure of the answers :rotfl:

Hunter is complaining of being dizzy a lot. I guess I should call his doctor and run it by him. First it was headaches and those have gone away for the most part, but now he is feeling dizzy. Most of the time it is just when he sits or stands, but other times it is when he is walking along. He says that things just go black. I can remember that happening to me all the time when I was a teen, but I don't remember when it started :confused3 Vicki didn't one of your girls have this? I'll call the doctor tomorrow

Make sure they check his BP... it's not standard to do so in kids except in trauma, etc, but it sounds like it could just run low. I hope that's all it is! :wizard:

ETA: Have the nurse or MA do an orthostatic BP, too -- standing up vs lying down, etc

So we got a Wii!! Well, I ordered one. I signed up on wiialerts.com and was a ble to check my mail today during the day. There was availabilty on walmart.com so i called my brother telling him hurry and give me his credit card number and we got it!
So i just ordered an extra remote and now were waiting for the wii fit!

Woohoo! :woohoo:

My photopass cd came today, and I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you. Ok, maybe not a few. More like several.

You got SO many good pictures! I love the one of the girls kissing Nicholas, and the one of you all jumping!

Do you remember if you had a lot of pictures, stopped a lot, etc? We NEVER get that many goods ones from Photopass!

Hi, all,

Long time, no talk! I have spent the good part of the last week reading through Chapter 16 and up to this point of Chapter 17, trying to catch up on everyone's lives before I just jumped back into the fray. :goodvibes

I want to wish everyone a belated happy holidays, and a happy new year ahead to all. Thank you so much for all of your cards over the last several weeks - they were truly a bright spot!

I know Marci posted the news of my job loss, and I really appreciate everyone's kind thoughts, prayers, and words. I was in a bit of shock there for a while, and then with the holidays, having to clean out my office/e-mail account right after Christmas, etc., I just vegged for the first few days of '09. I think I've read about 7 books since Christmas, and avoided my e-mail account, which was a nice "clearing of the head" time. I have no idea yet as to what I will do next (although I have plenty of thoughts on what I don't want), but I am fortunate in that I have a severance package that should get me through for several months, so I'll have some time to get some perspective. That was one good thing about having been at the firm for a while - they couldn't really screw me out of a decent amount of severance.

I truly hope that other DDA'ers will be able to weather the job and economy situation. :wizard: :grouphug: It's a little unsettling how many people I now know that seem to be affected daily by all that is goinng on, and I know all we can do is keep working hard, and praying a lot!

I can't even begin to try to recap everything I read, so I will just extend a huge blanket of hugs and PD :grouphug: :wizard: , and please know that I celebrated, sent prayers/good thoughts, etc., every time I read over something that needed it.

In other news, we had a great trip to the World in mid-December. We did a lot of fun things (great meals at R&C, Boma, Narcoossee's; the Segway tour; the DIS' Toy Story Mania after-hours meet), got to see several DDA'ers (Terry, Stephanie, and Denise), and really enjoyed our time at AKV (definitely where we'll probably add DVC points once the time comes). Best of all, we got a huge amount of pixiedust when we were upgraded to the Main Building concierge at the GF - we had booked a concierge room after our great stay there last year initially, but when the economy began tanking in Sept., it just seemed the right thing to do to back off to an AP rate in a garden view room. To get that sort of an upgrade was a huge thrill, and was even more wonderful in hindsight, considering what was to come when I headed back to work that Monday.

I'm also fortunate in that I'm going to go visit my parents later this month down in FL (they've headed there for a couple of months of "winter" at my grandparent's old home), and they've asked me to go for a couple of days to WDW with them while I'm there. Unemployment does have its silver linings at times. ;)

Plus, I'll get to DIS more, and keep up with everyone here on a regular basis. :dance3:

Well, this went much longer than intended, so I'll sign off for now, and see you guys tomorrow. Night night, DDA!

Lindsay, it's so nice to hear from you! We decided to let your boys win a nail-biter game, just for you, you know ;)

I've missed you, and hope that you can find something perfect waiting for you that would involved less stress this coming summer! :wizard:

I got an ammendment to my Disney Visa in the mail yesterday. It looks like they are finally raising interest rates. I'm going from 9% to 14%. We hardly carry a balance, but we just put on our flights and insurance to PHX for our March trip. We have until March 1 to pay it off and not get that lovely 14%.
Anyone else get one? It's my only credit card, and Bob hasn't seen any for his.

I am going by last years days so we should be at EP 8/14 so that would work for us if thats ok for everyone else. Yes dinner would be better than breakfast. I am so glad we get to meet again as we missed you all last August.

I agree with Tammi on what to include on the info for the kids parents.
Also making sure you have all the parents cell phones just in case.

Me too.
I'll have to put together a tentative itinerary and see if we'll be in the same places. Since I use TGM too, I bet we will be!

Well, I WILL make an exception when I get to meet up with some DDAers. ;) :thumbsup2

I wouldn't say that we stopped a lot. Just at the usual locations. I like the out of the ordinary ones....the jumping, the ta-da in front of the hat, the rock pose at RNRC, those kind of things. I wish more photographers did unique things like that.

I got an ammendment yesterday, but I haven't read it yet. Mine gets paid off monthly, thank goodness.

Hmm... so you just had a good week, it would seem! Hopefully we'll get so lucky with the photographers! :thumbsup2 I agree, the out of the ordinary ones are really great!
