DDA Chapter 16

I am taking Button to the vet again this morning. Last month when she had her annual checkup her blood work was WEIRD. Triglycerides for a dog ought to run no higher than about 291 (give or take a little) but hers were off the chart at 1257. She eats a healthy, low-fat dog food with only Milk Bones as treats so that was a major surprise to all of us. Her electrolytes were skewed and there was protein in her urine too. Her Addison's Disease may have something to do with the readings but, we needed to find out if there was something way out of whack going on.

The vet did a consult with an internist who suggested we reduce her daily meds and do a fasting workup a week later. Button is really  at me this morning because I followed her around outside with a ladle to catch a urine sample and then refused to give her a treat or her breakfast when we came back in. :sad2:

Good morning...

We survived scouts, but just barely. The girls were off the wall with excitement and attitude. And to top off the evening, Emma had a run in with the dad that was teaching which prompted lots and lots of tears on her part. Thankfully, I was able to call the dad and Emma and him made peace. It really was a minor incidence and I felt he was justified in calling out her behavior. But when we got home and her and I had a chance to talk about her behavior, she burst out in hysterical tears and was so afraid the dad wouldn't like her anymore. I knew that only way to end that was to have her call and apologize and have him reassure her that he still liked her. Thankfully, he was great in dealing with my emotional daughter at 9pm!! Oh the drama!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a busy day ahead of me. I need to bake and decorate a cake, thankfully it's a carrot cake with cream cheese icing so nothing too fancy. But I have to go buy all the ingredients or I won't get anywhere. I desperately need to grocery shop as it's slim pickings around here but don't if I can squeeze that in until tomorrow night or Sunday. I also have my GYN appointment which could easily take 5 minutes or 5 hours!! My dr. is infamous for getting backed up. I am hopeful that since it's in the morning I can escape within a reasonable amount of time. I also need to buy a birthday present for our "nephew" for tomorrow. Emma and I are meeting up with a scout friend and her mom for dinner and then we have a Brownie event from 6:30-8:30. And then her friend will be spending the night. Nothing terrible but I am also working on 3 1/2 hours of sleep so it could get interesting say around 3pm.

I hope everyone has a great day. For those that need it, here's some :wizard: and 's Hope everyone is able to stay strong on their eating healthy, it's good to know that a lot of you are suffering right along with me!!:rotfl:

Poor Button! I hope they can figure out what the deal is! :wizard:

Jennifer - More :wizard: for Olivia!

Robyn - I am glad Emma was able to get things worked out with the scout dad! Good luck getting all of your stuff done! :wizard:

Princess has her re-scheduled admissions interview this morning. I hope she isn't too shy. She is SOO smart, but I am worried that she will clam up and refuse to demonstrate her skills for the interviewer.

Marci - I think I might have heard a story about a certain little girl you know hiding under the chair during an admissions interview. She got in anyway, and now she is a big girl! :rotfl2: I will not tell that story to Princess. I don't want to give her any ideas. :rolleyes1

Sounds like a very busy day Robyn, hope it is a good one for you!

:rotfl: See, around here , college isnt a big thing so i dont have a favorite team to root for --always more fun with a team!

That does make sense.... just pick one, though! I love hockey and we most certainly have no NHL interest around here, so I chose a team at about 6 years old and stuck with it! :rotfl:

See previous post :rotfl:

Yeah, yeah.... I already called you a blasphemer! :teeth:

Poor Button! I hope all goes well :wizard: Take a treat with you! :goodvibes

Chanon - how about something like "happy bday to my mvp"?

That's a great idea!

Randy always signs the flower cards or greeting cards with to my DW from your DH. A nod to the DIS...

Oh my -- the drama. How is your knee?

I had a call from one of the parents of a girl in Andrew's class. I was initially freaking out, because he asked me if Andrew has a friend named Jack. I thought maybe Jack was harassing his daughter via text or phone because one night all the boys that were at my house were texting each other's friends, and Jack and Arielle hit it off and had been "going together". Then Jack broke up with Arielle, but evidently they are talking again. The parent was just checking to make sure that Jack is indeed a friend of Andrew's, and not just some random stalker. I assured the parent that Jack is a friend, and that I know Jack's Mom and went to school with her, so if they have any problems to let me know. Whew!

Yep -- and that same girl has done well at H and is about to take her SAT. I was there the day she was born -- I feel old!

Jennifer -- I hope Olivia is feeling better and no one else gets sick.

Janet -- I also hope you are feeling better.

Lots to do this weekend. I need to pick up Jake's birthday cake today, get the boys some new shoes as theirs are wearing out, return a couple of gifts, go to a family visitation tonight for my Mom's best friend's mother, the burial tomorrow, two basketball games, and a trip in to Dallas to pick up Jake's best friend for a sleep over. Sunday is Church, and then Jake's party. I also desperately need to get to the mall to get Randy's birthday present, but I don't see how I can work that in. I have made dinner reservations for next weekend for his birthday, and he finally told me what dessert he wants, so I can order that.

Amy -- I hope you guys have a MAGICAL trip!

Have a good weekend everyone! :)

School is delayed for two hours, so instead of going back to bed, I think I will Dis for a little while.

Tammi, there is a new law that is supposed to go into effect Feb. 10th, that will put a stop to the resale of used clothing, and any boutique children's clothing that is made for resale.
This law was to stop the infiltration of lead and deadly toxins that overseas toy manufacturers put into their products.
But since the law states that it is for all products for children under the age of 12, alot of businesses will go bankrupt.
They cannot afford the thousands of dollars that it will take to make sure that each and every product that goes into their creations is determined safe.
I understand the need for a law like this, but alot of small mom owned businesses (Dad owned too) are going to suffer.
You can read more about it here.

Hey guys! I can't seem to get caught up this morning, but wanted to make sure to post on this in case it hadn't been posted yet. There was a clarification that came out late yesterday, I think it was, that says resellers can still sell without the testing. The info is here: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09086.html
I know that our reseller was happy with this clarification and will continue to operate as usual, but ymmv, of course.

Good morning, DDA! Guess I'm just going to have to skip a day's pages or so as I can't get caught up. This house hunting is taking up my other computer time and I'm behind on emails and list mail. For good reason, at least, so I'm good with it.

For now, though, I've got to go get dressed as we're headed to the mall for some Chick Fil A breakfast, the good part, and bra shopping, the not so good part. Why is bra shopping such a pain! Grr.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to hop on later when the baby is sleeping. She rarely sleeps when we go to the mall or something else exciting like that so she should sleep really well this afternoon.

:wizard: and :grouphug: for all of the hovering job and money issues for everyone. We'll all make it through in the end, I know, but it's tough going in the middle.

Robyn, you exhaust me!

Thanks Tammi! I think this will work! :teeth:
Great! I was mulling over ideas this morning, and it came to me while I was drying my hair. Another one I had was 'happy bday to my home run'.

Maybe that's what Chris and Deb were trying to get to in last night's comments. :teeth: Thanks again!

Hmm. I saw some electric drums at Bed, Bath, & Beyond back at Christmas and thought about going back to get them for DS. BUT I just looked at them online and they are designed to be used with a PC. :headache: That won't work. Back to the drawing board.

Princess is a bit snarky today. That does not bode well for an 11 AM interview. :scared: I told her she may play for 10 minutes before I put her in the bath.

I am kind of bummed that I have things I HAVE TO go to both days this weekend. I am babysitting Saturday night and we have Princess's party Sunday afternoon. That means on Monday I will feel like I had no weekend. I have to go to the grocery store at some point. Maybe Sunday before the party.

I haven't heard from the cake lady so I am not sure when the cake is being delivered. That would be useful information.

On the home page of the DIS, it says Disney ticket prices have increased. I can't figure out for the life of me WHERE the ticket increase is though...the list isn't updated on the DIS or on Mousesavers, so I printed off the "new" list from Disney. They are telling me that a 5DB ticket is 225.00 plus tax (at 6.5%) we are at 236.43. That's the same that is on the DIS and Mousesavers so have tickets not been updated??
