Well, we got to CA just fine. We almost got to bump from our flight in Dallas, but alas it didn't work. I was hoping for that $400 flight credit for a possible Disney trip next Dec. When we arrived we walked around DTD until Michelle could come pick us up. First thing we saw was Goofy hanging out at the
Disneyland Hotel luggage desk. We also got to meet Santa in a really nice set up. I have some PhotoPass pictures which I'll load when we get home.
Yesterday at DL started out misty and grey. Unfortunately, that turned to rainy and grey, but it finally cleared up around 11 or 11:30. The nice part was that the morning rain kept the crowds low. Even better, they didn't really appear even after it cleared. It was so nice to walk around without wall to wall people. Even Main Street at fireworks time wasn't horrible. Crowded, sure, but not really bad.
Thanks to the minimal crowds, we got to do a lot of stuff. In the morning we rode Peter Pan and Casey Jr before needing to find some gloves for Terra, coffee and hot chocolate for us both and a stroller. Terra's poor feet just can't handle too much. I'm not sure what we'll do after she out grows her Maclaren. So, we rented a stoller and headed over to CA Adventure at it's opening. We headed straight to Toy Story and rode it 4 times back to back. The line still hadn't gotten to be more than abotu 15 minutes by then, but we decided to head to Soarin' instead after riding King Triton's carousel. Soarin' was maybe a 15 minute wait and then we headed to Muppets 3D. After that, it was back to DL.
Next up was a visit to Santa, Mrs Claus and the reindeer at Canyon Ranch. Reindeer Pluto and Clarabell were back there too. Terra took a million pictures and then we went to Pooh before lunch. We rode the ride and then visited with Pooh before heading to the Blue Bayou. Lunch was really good! Terra had salmon and I had the Monte Cristo. Yum! After lunch we went to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. We were headed to Pixie Hollow when we realized that 2 minutes before the parade would come by there were still curb spots. So, we stopped right by the Pixie Hollow entrance and watched the Christmas parade. It was cute as always.
After the parade we turned into the Pixie Hollow entrance and then were 2nd in line to see Rosetta and Tink. They were just too cute! Next up was the princesses where we saw Minnie dressed as a princess, Belle in her yellow dress and Jasmine. We missed Ariel in her dress by one family. From there, we headed into Toontown where Terra checked out the million and one interactive things. We visited Goofy's House, Minnie's House, Mickey's House and Chip 'n Dale's Tree House. We also saw Mickey in his Band Uniform from the cartoon where he conducts in the tornado.
It got dark enough for the Christms lights to come on while we were in Toontown so we got to see everyone's houses lit up in lights. Then, it was time for Holiday Small World. It was so nice and the rehab was beautiful. They have all new boats that are great. While we were in line, we got to see the whole video and dancing lights thing on Small World. I don't know when they added that, but I hadn't seen it before. From there, it was back to Fantasyland for Tea Cups and Alice in Wonderland which had finally dried out enough to open mid-afternoon. We also did Dumbo and the carousel before heading over to Nemo Submarines. Even that line was only about 10 minutes! By now we were starving so we grabbed a pizza slice to share at Redd Rocket's. Then it was Astro Orbiter. By now Terra was getting tired, but she really wanted to see the fireworks. So, we went to do Haunted Mansion before that. Unfortunately, Terra was tired and it was too overwhelming. She totally lost it between the stretching room and the doom buggies. So, we took the exit and I decided I also wouldn't make her do Fantasmic. She's doesn't care for the Villians scenes, but does it just for me. Instead, we did Jungle Cruise were we got the pleasure of haning out with our guide on the backside of water waiting for a tow. It was actually pretty fun and a whole new experience.
We made it back to Main Street in time to get some coffee (free refill from my morning coffee at the Main Street coffee/kitchen store!) and get a spot for the fireworks. We finished the night with some pictures of the castle, as stop for a Mickey Rice Krispie treat and a present for me at the Emporium. They had great weekly calendar that I loved. It's one of those magnetic ones that you tear the sheet off each week. I loved, though, that it had a section for dinner plans, divided places for different people and a place for appointments. Plus, the price was right at $6!
Anyway, so I meanered out of the park enjoying the ambiance and made our way to DTD for my friend to come pick us up.
Overall, it was a great day! My feet may not have dried out until almost the end of the night, but it was never crowded and we got to do lots! I'm so glad I gave Terra her camera ahead of time as she took over 300 pictures. She loved taking pictures of the little stuff all around us and I can't wait to see some of them. She's got pictures of me with characters, flowers, decorations, line queues, rides, everything! I'll definitely post some from both of our cameras when we get home.
