DDA Chapter 15

Things change drastically in 15 years, my friend. What is important now might not be then. Put up the tree. Enjoy it sans ornaments if you want, but enjoy having the tree up with your DH and DS.

I agree. I invested in some nice looking plastic ornaments, so we could have a decorated tree with our little ones.

I couldn't quit thinking about prime rib, so I put an order in for one today, I will pick it up on the 24th(this way I don't have to freeze it). It was on sale for $6.99 a lb., I just couldn't resist.

Thanks for the suggestions though!

Prime rib sounds really good!

I'd forgotten that nursing really makes you hungry! Everything sounds good to me!

I am really happy though, that I'm back to wearing my size 12 jeans. My size 10's are in the closet just teasing me. I will get back in to them, this I promise!

 Hi, all! Sorry I'm not around too much at the moment.

Elizabeth, I hope that your cats surprise you and don't mess with the tree. Ours used to bat at the lower ornaments when they were kittens, but they've never done any damage. Between kids and cats, the "good" ornaments have been at the top of the tree for a long time around here.

Vicki - did you get my PM?

Yes. Thank you very much! You didn't have to do that though. We really did have a ball getting them for you all. We were just talking about it today. We really missed our winter trip to Disney this year.

Tammi and I met at Bonefish Grill for an early dinner. We had a wonderful time (as usual). I consider myself very lucky to have found a close-by friend through you all. :goodvibes
Me too! :goodvibes It was delish, and we had a very nice visit. So then I went downtown. The Christmas store was open and they didn't have what I was looking for. The Sportswear store was closed. Then back over to the mall. They were all out of the football ornament. A shipment comes in on Thursday. I felt like I was going in circles for nothing.

Now I'm home and it's time to do more laundry and wrap!

I am always hungry & size 12 is a good size to me ;)

You're very welcome!

Elizabeth - I agree with everyone else. Put the tree up and enjoy it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Kristine - Yes, you should be annoyed. I also think it was meant to be a stab at you.

the brunch I went to was nice (I went to the UMW Christmas Brunch). They surprised me with a wonderful card and check. It was a bit sad to see how badly my favorite volunteer has moved into the horrible grasp of alzheimers. The rest of ladies were so very, very sweet to me.

We then headed to Hammond's Candies and that was a pretty big bust....it was so crowded that we could only get on the last tour of the day (almost 3 hours later) so we tried finding something nearby to entertain us. No go!! We went by Barnes & Noble on the way home and I spent my gc on a 50% off hardcover of one of my favorite authors new books:banana:.

Tonight I am going to make tuna noodle casserole and watch Hallmark channel holiday movies...I love the cheesy& predictable!!

I agree 100% with Elin. My aunt loves yellow glass dishes. She has some wonderful pieces. They hide in the cabinet because she is saving them for a "special" day. In my opinion, she is special and they should be used at every meal just because of that.

That's one thing I've always loved about my parents. They filled their house with beautiful objects, and encouraged people to enjoy them. They eat at least once a week off their wedding china, and since my grandparents died they inherited that china as well. When we visit it's not unusual to eat pizza off china.

Mom and Dad both are firm believers that you should enjoy your beautiful things now, and not save them for "the future."

Great price and sounds yummy! We usually have filet mignon on Christmas. We can get away with 2 steaks for the 5 of us. Laura doesn't eat steak. Of course, Matthew eats more than he used to, so maybe 3 if they are small. It is something I look forward to all year.

We have been extremely busy the past few days and there is no end in sight!! Thursday was scouts night and I had to pick up one of the girls at her daycare as her dad got stuck in traffic on the way home. I brought her back her to feed her dinner as we were all meeting at Wal-Mart to shop for the family we adopted. I picked up my girlfriend and her DD and then we swung by and picked up the 1st girls dad. Drove through the torrential rain and thankfully we managed a quick shopping trip. Back to 1st girls house for cocoa and cookies with all the girls and parents.

Friday was busy with the usual stuff. Eric dropped Em and Mo off at his parents for the night. Once the daycare kiddos left Eric, Lu and I headed out to shop. We got almost all of Christmas Shopping done in about 2 1/2 hours. Came home, put sleepy Lu to bed and then sat down and watched White Christmas.

Got up this morning was out the door by 8:40am to deliver and wrap the Scout presents. One of the other girl's mom came with me and we had a great time and thankfully only spent about an hour there. Came home and then headed back out to finish up the rest of our shopping. I have only a few things left, mostly gift cards and Eric's parent's gift (which he'll get Friday).

Once I got home and Lu was down for her nap, Em, Mo and I started decorating our tree. I really want to head into the kitchen once the girls are in bed and mix up a few batches of cookies. We'll see how that goes!!!

Tomorrow is church and then Dana, her girls, my mom, sister, niece and nephew are coming over to decorate gingerbread houses. Which reminds me I need to assemble those tonight so they'll withstand the girls decorating!! There goes the cookie dough! After the houses are done it's cookie decorating time.

Monday is Emma's concert at school. Tuesday afternoon one of my girlfriends and I are delivering some presents to the family whose dad died over Thanksgiving. I am sure that will be pretty emotional. That evening I have to meet up with one of the scout's parents to rework our schedule. Our "scout" dad is having surgery on his ankle the end of Jan and we need to accommodate that as he will be recovering what could be 10 weeks. Wednesday night is Mo's Preschool concert and then Thursday is our last scout meeting before the holidays. Next weekend is just as busy with a sleepover on Friday night, cleaning Saturday, and Christmas breakfast with my mom's family here on Sunday morning, then church and then Hanukkah with Eric's parents Sunday night! :faint: No rest for the weary!!

I am sure that everyone else is just as busy. But if I don't get on much this week you know why!

Have a great night DDA!

Elin glad you & Tammi had good time tonight :goodvibes

I still need to put our tree up, but I promise it will be done before Christmas! Gary is going to add more shelves to the cabinets in the kitchen & then I can get everything out of the dining room. I will then have room for a tree :thumbsup2

You are busy! Thanks for reminding me...we want to do gingerbread houses tomorrow, too, so I need to assemble them tonight. I wonder if I have any meringue powder...

I am always hungry & size 12 is a good size to me ;)

I'm very happy with it. I was really worried about the weight gain. I just didn't want to go back to my pre-surgery body. I think that I can get the rest of the weight off (10 pounds now) fairly quickly once my doctor gives me the ok for exercise again.

Great job, Glynis!

Has anyone else received their photo book yet?

Walgreens has 25% off photo calendars, so I made one for mil. I hope it turns out ok.

Wow! I'm exhausted just reading this!

We're not that busy, thank heaven!

I spend my mornings making goodies for our neighbors while Timothy sleeps. That helps a lot! Next week is the last week of school for the kids. I have Jacob's 3rd grade Christmas program on Wednesday, the 6th grade gingerbread Festival on Thursday, and the school's Christmas sing on Friday. Friday night, Alan and I are taking Timothy to our old neighborhood to see some friends, and then he's made reservations for us to eat at an upscale restaurant. He says it's his "thank you" for Timothy. That should be fun!

Saturday, we'll do Christmas cookies, and the kids will deliver plates to our neighbors. We'll spend the afternoon putting together presents for the kids friends. That evening we'll drive to a nearby town to see the Christmas light display.

Wow! Maybe we are busier than I thought!

Leighanna and I have had a day of baking cookies and making candy. I am tired and would like to quit, but Leighanna is full of energy and wants to keep going!
We've made sugar cookies, buckeyes, rocky road candy, dipped cherry shortbread cookies, and have a recipe for homemade marshmallow.
I am out of powdered sugar, so I will have Angie bring some home after work so that we can at least ice these sugar cookies.

Our tree has been up a few days now.
Our one cat Patches has been in it, up it, sleeping in it, and batting at it. So far no chewing of the wires!
Midnite doesn't touch the tree, she is our good kitty!

So far no broken ornaments, and we are enjoying the tree!
Elizabeth, go ahead and put up your tree! I am sure that your DS and DH love the tradition of it, and find that a very important part of Christmas!
