I was the first one in line this morning-got there around 5:50am. I got flannel to make some Christmas gifts, some fleece too. I found the Pooh Toile that I used to make Lizzy a top this summer in fleece. I got a piece a little over a yard as a remnant. I'll use that to make Lizzy a raglan PJ top (haven't tried that pattern yet) and probably make the sleeves white. Maybe I'll have enough to make her a hat for our January trip ensuring that we'll have warm weather. I also got a few fabrics to make some more American Girl Doll things and I got Lizzy's Girl Scout leader some flannel so she can make her kids some PJ pants. I'm going to help her make them Wednesday. I did end waiting in the cutting line twice but the check outs had no lines at all so it really wasn't too bad.Our JoAnn's was crazy last year. The line for fabric was at least 15 people long and the line to pay, twice that. I didn't get there until mid-morning though so that could have made a big difference. Also, we have a pretty small store. I'm excited though cause I think it is moving to the location Bed Bath and Beyond just moved out of. Even the higher ceilings there would make a difference, but the place is at least twice as big.
I agree that it makes more sense to plan US from the start of your planning. We did mini golf last year and it was fun. We still haven't done a water park yet. My DH wanted to try horseback riding if he went again.Bernadette - I read your suggestion about going to WDW earlier with DS. The thing is, I only get 10 days of vacation. This year only half of the days counted as "mine" because the other week my bosses were gone. I really want to go in December next year so I want to save some of my days. I also don't want to mess with redoing the flights and booking more hotel nights. DH said he wants to see something different. I told him we can go to a water park and play mini golf at WDW because he has never seen those before.![]()
WOW! How exciting! Welcome baby Timothy!!!!Hi Theresa! He's here, and Glynis wouldn't let me do another things until I let you know.
7 lbs 10 ounces, 19 inches, happy and healthy.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Alan
I have sent them a congratulatory note and asked for the official name!!
ETA: On facebook Alan has written that they have welcomed Timothy Locke
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
My morning went like this...
Got up, showered, dressed, computer time.
Eat breakfast, brush teeth, get ready to put hand cream on, phone rings.
Answer phone, Happy Thanksgiving tell your mom Happy Thanksgiving I called but got no answer, also tell her Elwood (their brother with the cancer) had a stroke, they don't think he will make it till the weekend.
We got Mrs Smith's frozen pies. You should try her pumpkin pie-I found it a bit too spicy.Oops. The pie we bought yesterday that we thought was pumpkin is actually sweet potato. Haven't tasted it yet. The one DH bought at Sam's that really is pumpkin is not that good. I was pretty sure we bought pumpkin pies at Sam's and the grocery store last year and we didn't like either one. We really like the apple pies at Super Target, so we thought we would try a pumpkin form there. Only it isn't pumpkin. It is sweet potato.![]()
The Sam's one doesn't have enough spice, so the filling tastes like plain pumpkin. The filling is also too dense or something - the texture is off. It wasn't too bad with Cool Whip, but we need to remember NOT to buy pumpkin pie at Sam's again.
I finished the new Wally Lamb book today. "The Hour I First Believed". It is over 700 pages. I really liked his first 2 books, this one, eh. It was kind of odd. I didn't DISlike it, but it wasn't fabulous.
How tragic! Prayers for his family. Can I ask for some prayers and pixie dust please? I just found out that one of Emma's friends from preschool dad committed suicide yesterday. Eric and him coached the girls soccer team one year. Please say a prayer for Emma's friend, her little sister and their mom. I cannot imagine the hell they are going through right now.
WOW! You did great! Our Black Friday was pretty much the best ever!
Kyle and I hit 9 stores, NINE, and were back to my parents' house before 7am!![]()
We didn't opt to try for a new computer because I am just too picky for the ones that were offeredbut we got everything else we needed, as well as 90% of what my mom needed. I got a GORGEOUS $220 Cashmere-Wool Blend pea coat for $49 that fits beautifully (and I was in desperate need of a new coat!). We got a $600 HDTV (only 22" as an extra) for $250, and a $100 digital frame for $30. We got the maximum of 8 Lil' Kinz for only $3.50 each! We got lots of smaller things like nice photo frames, some board games, a few DVDs, some accessories for the Wii, etc for absolute steals.
All this between about 3am and 6:30am, AND we got gas for $1.59 to boot right before the station jumped up to $1.80 like the surrounding ones!
I haven't slept in about 28 hours, so I'm hoping that's a good enough excuse to go to bed early with the girls, instead of socializing at my inlaws![]()
We're off to Ottawa shortly ... enjoy the rest of your weekend!
He will love that! It will be interesting to see what he sees from his perspective!I ended up buying this for Colby

It's the little camcorder in the add. I think he'll like it and it wasn't too expensive. It also uses an sd card which is the same as all of our other electronics.
Congrats on your deals!Shopping went well for me. I got Alyssa a pair of $50 boots for $16, the Ugg type but different, and I got Bob a $400 leather coat for $160. Those were my main goals. Other than that I wandered around aimlessly. There didn't seem to be any great deals on clothes, and I didn't need any major electronic purchases. Elin called me when I was in my last check out line asking if I wanted to have lunch. She had perfect timing because I was starving. So we had met at Panera and had yummy food and good conversation, and we are meeting again tonight at her favorite wine place. I don't know when I'm going to pack!!!!
Now I'm going to lay down for a bit.
Same thing in this house! All 3 kids woke me one a time while I was trying to nap and then DH did. When I told him I was tired he told me to take a nap.I got a very SHORT nap because DS and DH feel compelled to speak to me while I am sleeping. My throat doesn't feel too bad now. Maybe it was just all the perfume at the mall.![]()
Congrats on your deals! Have fun making the blankets and PJ pants! I'm tempted to go back tomorrow for more fleece.I started the morning at JoAnne's.....2 hours laterI got out with enough great fabric for 2 blankets, 4 pairs of pj pants and the patterns needed to make the pants
for $35.
8 stores and 5 hours later(and not a lot of stuff) we came home exhausted, napped and now just watched Nebraska beat the Buffs in the last minute of the football game.
We will go to our towns tree lighting tonight.
I went back and read our 2006 trip report to remind myself why I said we would never travel in a group again.Ah, yes. Now I remember. I like meeting up with DDA friends at WDW. Group travel is a whole other thing. DH, DS and I are discussing our dining preferences and trying to come up with some sort of touring plan. We have to come up with a way to balance things out so this trip is better than the '06 one.
Now for somenews.
Yesterday at 2:15 pm. a fire broke out at a local chocolate store, said store was connected to a chinese restaurant and a pizza parlor. I have a cousin that is a volunteer fire fighter and his company was called out. Well he and another guy went into the chinese restaurant to try and keep it from catching fire.
Well they were inside when the place exploded. My cousin was thrown into the air and landed on his back/side on the counter, then rolled off. He told his partner to grab hold of his boot they were going out the window. Both men were assessed and then sent home, both are sore but fine.

Good luck with that planning!!!

I still need to contact IPO about my May trip!!!!! And need to decide if I should try to change my Jiko reservation that I have for January to something else since we aren't staying at AKL but Terry will have her car so it wouldn't be too bad.![]()
YIKES!!!! Glad they are going to be OK.
Good luck Elizabeth![]()
Polar Express is coming on, I have to watch it!
Now you're probably 20 miles past since it's later on now...
I'll be closer to our friends and family in the UP tomorrow - we'll be in Holland MI.
ETA: Clock is off in the DIS...you must be right by the Streetsboro/ St Rt 14 Turnpike exit right now!![]()
Santa never wraps gifts that come to our house, Jennifer! He never wrapped those that came to my house when I was growing up either. Makes things much easier!
does anyone still have the ads. I threw mine away and then found out that my wireless mouse got broke. I thought I saw one for 9.99 somewhere.
Office Depot had one for $5 but you had to mail in for a $25 rebate, so I guess it was $30.
