DDA Chapter 15

So it's cold outside (20 degrees) and snowing and I am going to go with my grandparents to their toe clinic (:scared1: ) and lunch. I am a glutton for punishment!!

Good morning...I have been following along but just not in a really great mood.

I do have a favor to ask of all of you though. The other moms from preschool and I are trying to come up with a few ideas on something that we can do to help the other family. Since Emma's friends birthday is Dec 23rd and then Christmas is right then we thought we'd ask our friends and family to purchase a small gift for each of the girls and/or mom. We also thought some gift cards to the grocery store might be helpful as well. We also wanted to get toghether and prepare a few meals for them to stock their freezer. We have no idea what the financial situation is but I imagine it's not going to be great. The mom does not work and I don't know if the life insurance, if they had any, would become available any time soon.

Is there anything that you all can think of that might be better for us to do? I know you all will have some ideas that I just can't see. Thanks.

I think you've gotten some great ideas already. I also wonder if she needs resume help/networking, someone to watch the kids if she needs to do something while they are out of school, someone to offer to take them to a holiday event or somewhere to help distract them all for a little while, or just an adult to talk to.

Mom's appointment for her "mega dose" started at 9 AM. If you have some good thoughts to send her way that would be fabulous! :)

Absolutely! Let us know how she does.

Good afternoon, DDA!!

I thought that I had marked things to multi-quote, but nothing came up so who knows what my brain was doing.

Elizabeth - :wizard: for your mom this morning!

Marci - I hope the shot helps your shoulder.

Janet, Anne Marie, Chanon - Hope you all arrived safely and are having a great time.

Stephanie and Terry - Almost time!!!! :dance3: Such fun!

Deb - Glad your decorations are coming together. I was hoping to get our tree up and lit this week as we're decorating on Sunday. Looks like it may not get done until then. Maybe during Chase's nap time tomorrow.

Tom - Love the bow in your blog! You make it sound so easy and the pictures are a big help. If I can find the ribbon cheap enough, I might have to try it out.

Everyone else - :wave2:

My day has been made! I hadn't remembered that the Disneyland castle got the icicle treatment last year as well. So, while not as impressive as Cindy's I'm sure, I do get to see this in a few weeks:

Ick! I never want to go to a toe clinic. I actually feel queasy now.

Thanks for the good thoughts for Mom. She is supposed to have her lunch lady Christmas party at 5 PM so I don't know if I will be able to get ahold of her. She typically doesn't feel bad the day of the treatment, but since she has never had this drug before I am nervous.

Tia - I think the castle is beautiful! :goodvibes

Glynis, all of your children are adorable! Timothy is absolutely precious! :cloud9:

Thanks, Amy! I love the pictures in your signature. I can't believe how big your kids all are!

Tia how is Terra feeling now?

She's doing much better, thanks! I'm glad that we went to the doctor yesterday morning and had the medicines ready to start since she broke out the 103.7 fever yesterday evening. I was already prepared since I had been sick, but when she mentioned her ear hurting a little and her voice "being quiet" at 4pm Tuesday, I went ahead and called the doctor to get her in first thing.

The fever broke sometime during the night and she says that her ear and throat feel a little better already. I figure that by morning she'll be as good as new.

I think your ideas are great. Meals are very appreciated. Another thing you might do is get some gift certificates for a local movie theater. With money so tight for them, they won't want to spend on something like that. However, sometimes, just a night away from all the problems can work wonders. Just a thought.

So I'm not the only one who was tihnking that, huh. ;)

I am really excited to see the castle. That is the one thing I was really missing from not going to WDW in Dec this year and last. Particularly this year since that had been the original dates I'd picked. Getting to see DL all Christmasy was helping, but the castle really makes it for me. I'm so excited! Terra asked the other day if we could eat at the restaurant that is inside Pirates and I told her I didn't know if it would be fall. I called Monday thinking it would be a long shot, but for a party of 2 I had my choice of times. So, now we get to do the Blue Bayou for the first time too. I really think the sit down meal will help with an otherwise really crowded and long day.

Elizabeth - You might appreciate one of Terra's most anticipated things - Jack Skellington Haunted Mansion! Apparently, that's the only way she'll ride it anymore, or so she tells me.

I'm more excited about Holiday Small World. Sooo many lights!

Thankfully I didn't have to spend too much time in the clinic...it's at my old job and my buddy was in her office in the next room (away from the main office) so I talked to her for the majority of the time.

That sounds terrific!

I would LOVE to see the Nightmare overlay at the HM! She is a lucky girl! ;)

I don't care who was there or how long I had to stay, I NEVER want to go to a toe clinic. Ick, ick, ick! :scared:

Thanks for the card Deb

Have a wonderful trip Terry and Steffy

I'm going to try and make Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup tonight, I couldn't find aged white cheddar though, I'm going to use mild cheddar so I hope it comes out.
