DDA Chapter 15

Has anyone heard from Bernadette lately? Seems like it's been quite a while since she last posted. :confused3

You are right... and she is not in the part of Massachusetts that got the ice.

Deb and family are fine. They lost power for 16 hours on Friday. It warmed enough on Friday so that the ice could be cleared off the cars. They did lose heat because it requires power but it only got down to about 64. She worked yesterday. There are still some people that don't have power and may not until Thursday. She hopes to be on later if the internet is up.

I had just looked at the maps and figured they did get hit. It is also possible that Bernadette did too.

Kathrin said nothing to me about ice when I talked to her the past couple of days, but since she had power and does not drive, I suppose it didn't matter to her!

It sounds like a fun and productive day! We make Buckeyes, too, though we haven't yet this year. Do you use paraffin in the chocolate when you dip them?

Our one cat is named Midnight, too. The other is Blackberry. Though we usually call them Middie and Blackie.

What is a buckeye?
I don't use paraffin in my chocolate anymore. They seem to do fine without it.

I see that you already got the answers for what a "Buckeye" is!
Some of our favorite candy!

I am so undecided as to if we are driving or flying to Florida!

I had it in my mind that we were driving, but my wife said that we should just fly. She doesn't want me tired on vacation from driving all that way.

So, I just checked Southwest, they don't charge for checked bags, so I am thinking we might book with them.

So all you seasoned Southwest travelers, any tips I should know about?

How easy will it be for all of us to sit together? I know that you can't reserve seats in advance, and that kind of scares me. I guess I need to make sure I online check in as soon as I can so that I get a "good" number!

Just so long as you check in at the 24 hour mark prior your flight, you'll be fine at getting seats together. For your flights home, any guest service (at a hotel or in a park) will print them for you with ID for everyone and the confirmation number.
Also, fly on odd days (I don't remember your travel days) and you might get lucky...My flights were only a third full and that was was a Wed. and Mon.

Thanks Chanon!
We will fly out on a Wed. and back on a Thursday. So hopefully those are "odd" enough of days!:goodvibes

Here is the tree. Look quick while it is still vertical!
We put less than half of our ornaments on this time. I have strings of beads I usually use but DH hates them so he "can't find" them in the storage unit. :rolleyes1 I decided I don't like our topper, so for now the top is naked. I also need a new wreath, but the one I like is $50 so that can wait!

The baking is done, presents are all wrapped and mailed, programs for tomorrow's recitals are ready to print. Now I can think more about packing.

I have WAY too many clothes laid out to put in the suitcases. The highs while we are there are mid 70s (one day is 65 :upsidedow ) and lows range from 50-65 (so far, anyway). So, I know I need jeans and things to layer. So my turtlenecks and long-sleeved Ts ought to be fine. We each have a Lands End fleece jacket and gloves.

I also have some short-sleeved Ts and capris. Do you think I will get enough use out of the capris to take two pairs since I am taking no shorts this trip. I don't think I need any tank tops, do you?

Elizabeth - I LOVE your tree!! :goodvibes

ETA: I think we have the same entertainment center you do!

Elizabeth, I asked John to get the suitcase down and he hasn't done it yet. He has been reading the boards lately, send him a pm telling him how I need my suit case so I can start packing. His DIS name is mmexpress

Thanks. :teeth:

Glynis - just in case you missed it, that kids sail free deal is only available on 3 night cruises. But 3 nights is better than no nights, right?!

I did see that. While that seems really short, I might be able to talk Alan into a few days at WDW if we have to be there to get on the boat, anyway!

I like the way you think. :thumbsup2

I'll try anything to get a WDW trip. If his "need" for a cruise feeds into some time at WDW, so much the better! We'll see if it actually happens. Who knows. He gets these notions every so often, but then nothing comes of it.
