DDA Chapter 14

Did he take it with food? My sister must always eat a little something befor she takes medicine.

He had a slice of cheese and most of a bottle of water when he took the pills, and he was eating lunch when he said his stomach hurt. He says it still hurts. And he is mad at me for making him work on his math. DH is on his way, and DS put his pencil down and started to walk away as soon as he heard that. EXCUSE ME? Homework time is not over just because DH is headed this way!

It is REALLY windy here today. DH said one of the trucks at work tipped over from the wind. I don't really have any other details about that - not sure if the guy was driving or what. DH said he doesn't think the driver was hurt.

I have been kind of following a thread on the Coping and Compassion board.

The mom has a son DS's age. On Halloween he stayed at a friend's house. The next day the friend's mom went to work and left 3 boys at the house alone. They had a campfire the night before, and the boys wanted to light it again. The kid who lives there poured GASOLINE on the fire pit, the flames roared up, he dropped the gas can and the gas splashed all over one of the other boys (the son of the mom who is posting) and his leg caught on fire. :scared1:

He tried "stop, drop, roll" but it didn't work. He jumped in a swimming pool, then he moved inside to the bathtub. He was taken to the hospital where they first said he wouldn't need skin grafts, but then it was decided that grafts were necessary.

I just read more today. It turns out the boy's "friends" convinced him the burns weren't that bad and they waited about an HOUR before they called for help! They were so worried that they would get in trouble for playing with the gas that they delayed getting help for him! The mom is trying to deal with her injured son, a ton of medical bills, filing claims with the people's homeowners insurance, etc. :sad2:

I told DS about the thread after I first read it. With this new info I need to talk to him more, and make sure he knows if somebody catches on fire you call 911 RIGHT THIS MINUTE!

Elin - Was it you that ordered some flowering teas? If so, what did you think? I'm always at a total loss for the majority of my in-laws, but saw these the other day and was thinking about them for MIL. She drinks tea quite often, but I didn't know much about these. If you liked them, what kind did you order? Thanks!!

They were a gift, Tia. I like them just fine. They are all white and/or herbal teas which are not my favorite, but as those teas go they are nice. If you have someone to buy for who likes herbal or white teas I think it would be a fine gift.

Mine are from http://fullbloomtea.com/index.html

Does anyone have something cheesy that I can put on a gift for the pound auction we are going to tonight? We have one idea for one gift - that is a box of pound cake mix - I'm going to put on the outside of the wrapped box "Recipe for Success Inside!!!" and I'll include a recipe for the pound cake.
The one I'm drawing a blank on is a bag of animal crackers.

I was thinking about something along the lines of the circus is coming to town, but Kristin and I haven't gotten any further than that!

Elin - Bob took your idea and decided that there are wild animals at the circus. So now it's "It might be a little wild inside!". :teeth: little. wild. animal crackers. Thanks!!!

Yep! The original animal crackers come in circus train boxes so that is what started me thinking along those line. WTG, Bob! :woohoo:

Thanks everyone!

Elin, I agree on all counts about facebook. I use the wall and messaging, sometimes comment on status updates.... the rest I just don't usually bother with ()
Me too--i use the wall, messages, comment on status, pictures and flair (because of you!)

So today was supposed to be my house party...but I woke up with a headache and it never went away...thankfully the one guest I knew for sure was coming called and said she had a headache also. We were running out trying to figure out what still needed to be done...instead I called my other friend and she said "good, we couldn't stay long anyway" and we've been chilling out deciding where to put our Christmas tree.

We will put the tree up after we get the ice cream we didn't get yesterday because we didn't get out of HSM3 until really late. It's a little strange to put up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving...but it feels right!!

Happy Birthday, Jennifer!! Hope your day was wonderful!!

Yay for an end in sight! I can remember going to a sleepover in middle school where one of the girls ran into a tree. (An indoor tree.) It happened right before I got there - I think they were playing hide and seek or something. Her throat was covered in DEEP scratches. It looked HORRIBLE. If my child came home like that I think I would be very upset! :scared:
Yay for Emma's friend lasting all night!
I hope you can get the scout stuff squared away so you can get some sleep! :wizard: Hopefully Eric will get over being mad once everything is in place.

Thankfully her mom was here!! The girl was hilarious, she said that the "rampaging children were responsible for her injuries, not me! No worries, Miss Robyn!"

We got our checking account opened. I've learned to block out his petty crap when there is nothing I can do to change the situation. 3 of the 5 parents work shifts that would not allow us to hit the bank at any other time other than a Saturday. We needed 3 signers so it had to be Saturday and I wanted it over and done with so we can get our cookie money.

That's one heckuva a party you threw, Miss Robyn!

Nah. It's not REALLY a party until you send the kids to Dollar Tree in the dark. :rolleyes1

And THEN slam them into the wall! ::yes:: :rotfl:

NOW it's a party! :dance3:

I was never in scouts. Ms. Selfish was in scouts for awhile. My mom was the cookie woman or something, because our entire formal living area was full of cases of cookies. But we moved when Ms. Selfish was 9 and I don't think she was in scouts after that. I can't remember if Diva was in Brownies or not.

OMG! :rotfl2: Then I guess I'll have to try again next year as I've failed miserably this time.

I loved Brownies as a little girl. We had so much fun and I can still remember all of it pretty vividly.

Sounds like quite the party! I'm glad that all of the Scout stuff is coming under control. It sounds like you're almost there. Just get some meeting plans in line and get going and you'll be good. I know that it took me a few weeks to really get a handle on what I wanted to do for the year, but now it's a lot easier. Of course, I still need to plan Monday's meeting, but that's as easy as looking at my spreadsheet of plans for our requirements, choosing what we're doing this week and getting the supplies. I found a lot of ideas for our projects through the links on this site: http://www.scoutingweb.com/scoutingweb/index.htm if you guys need any help getting started.

Thanks for the link Tia. When we met last week we let the girls sort of occupy themselves while we gathered our thoughts and such. Near the end of the meeting we sat down with the girls and told them what we were expecting out of them and got their input on how they want to do things as well. We came up with an opening, a middle and an end to the meetings so they know exactly where they stand. In the last troop there were none of the traditions of GS's and that's why we did what we did. Most of us felt that the girls just thought it was social hour.

We are beyond excited to get to do things with the girls that we couldn't do before. There is a whole world out there for them to explore.

Here are a few party pics....

This was the 1st half hour or so with them running around and when the injury was sustained.
