DDA Chapter 14

So to compound Katie's misgivings about the impending move, she came home in tears yesterday. She hurt her arm at the cheerleading tryouts & did not perform as well as she wanted. Last night we found out she did not make the cheer team that she has been practicing for weeks for. I felt so bad for her. This has been a very crappy week for my baby. :sad2:

 for Katie. It's so hard to be a girl! Especially one that is that close to being a teenager! Give her a hug from me, and tell her it will get better. I promise!

I went to book club last night, and imagine my surprise to find myself the guest of honor at a surprise baby shower! It was so much fun! Peanut is going to be the best dressed baby!

I got up early this morning, because I woke up suddenly thinking about my dad's Christmas stocking. Mom always took care of that, and I know he won't think about doing it for himself. So, ladies, I'm going to take care of it. Ideas, please. What should I put in there? I know there will be a Barnes and Noble GC, but what else? All ideas welcome!

My kids haven't really started asking for anything for Christmas, yet, but we've already done most of their shopping.

The whole family is getting a Wii, with all the accessories being put in their stockings.

Katie is getting a DS
Jacob is getting a Wave skateboard (with helmet and elbow and knee pads)
Leslie is getting a pair of roller blades
Mary is probably getting a pair of roller blades, although she has an old pair right now. If Leslie gets some and she doesn't, it's just not fair!

Those are the big gifts from mom and dad.

I know that Jacob would like some Bakugan figures and a battle arena, but they are very hard to find. I'll probably get a DS game or 2 for Katie as well. Leslie will get a Barbie and I'm not sure what else Mary will get. It will be a pretty lean year for Peanut. We're just getting him enough to put in his stocking to preserve the magic for the younger kids. Alan and I are getting a swing for his big present, and Alan will take the kids shopping for him later in December.

Well, I'm off to get ready for bowling. I only have 2 more weeks of league play before my c-section, so I'm planning on enjoying them!

Good morning, DDA!

Debbie - I'm glad you finally got to feel the baby. :goodvibes:

Glynis - Mary is too cute! How fun that Peanut recognizes her voice.

Anne Marie - I hope that Katie's arm isn't bothering her too much. What a rough week for her. :grouphug:

Marci - Good luck with your weekend! Sounds crazy busy as usual.

Lindsey - Good to see you around this week! We've missed you.

That is terrific news about your shower!

My boys love Bakugan as well and they have been easy to find in Dallas. If you want me to pick up something and send it, I'd be happy to.

 I'm sorry she didn't make the team. :guilty:
This is a very weird time of year for try-outs. DS's school already has all of their cheerleaders. When would she have started cheering?
Hopefully she will manage to pull out of her funk. Can you find a couple of hours for the 2 of you to go have lunch or a pedicure or something?

YAY, it's Friday! :cool1:
But I still have to work so I better go get ready!

Cheering for football starts next week.

Thats a good idea, maybe we can have alittle girl time.

How fun that you had a surprise shower last night!!

For your Dad... anything for the DL trip that he would like? What about tickets to see a play that he is NOT involved with?

I never heard of these before last week..Sophie has been talking about Bakugan none stop!

Thank you. I am sure she wil be fine. :)

Thanks for the dittoable post Tia!! :goodvibes

Cheering for football starts next week.

Our school football season is just about over here. I thought maybe she was trying out for basketball cheering.

I'm sorry life has to be so rough sometimes.

Well Elizabeth, I see we are brain sharing today.

You will not come out on the better end of that deal, I am afraid! :rotfl2:

I was going to say what Beth said - football is over! How odd that yours starts so late, right when the weather is getting really horrible. :scared: There are still some high school games left, but middle school football is finished.

So I have been thinking about the "special deal". If you were staying in a value resort for $49 per night you would only save $150 getting 3 nights free. We would spend WAY more than $150 on food over the 3 extra days, so WDW wouldn't be losing anything. And you have to pay rack rate for the first 4 nights, right? So the first 4 wouldn't be $49, they would be more!

I read a post yesterday saying the OP was going to save almost $2000. That means their room would have to be nearly $700 per night. I bet those rooms aren't being offered for free. :rotfl2: Maybe they had more than one room booked. I didn't pay that much attention. I just don't think most people are going to save walloping amounts of money. You save some, just like with free dining. It sounds fabulous, but if you really look at the numbers you don't save as much as it sounds like you will.

Our '06 and '07 August trips were identical as far as the packages, but our '07 package was NOT the full cost of the dining plan cheaper than the '06 trip because we lost the room discount. Same logic here. You do save some money, but not THAT much.

Now I don't feel like I am missing something spectacular. ;)

what are your dates. I think for the 600 difference I will probably skip the DDP. I have a question about the refillable mugs. We bought some in Sept at POP. They do not say POP on them. Can we take them and use them in May?

I suspect the design will change as YOAMD is ending. That being said I'm not sure anyone actually checks. We used our mugs from this summer while we were at OKW and Vero a few weeks ago. I was actually surprised that Vero was using the same design.

  Maybe it's time to start virtually decorating that new room ;)

I'm so happy that you had a wonderful shower.
That was very thoughtful of them.
As for your Dad. Does he like to get a cup of coffee anywhere? We give my Dad coffee card at the convenience store that he gets coffee from. Maybe some designer coffees if he makes his own. Here we really just do essentials like toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, socks etc.

With 3 boys I'm surprised that I have never heard of Bakugan. Maybe they just aren't popular around here yet :confused3

I managed to finish up the ornament project that I was working on. They came out pretty cute. I am considering another project though. We'll have to see how much time I have.

Elizabeth, well my end of the brain sharing is no good. I just now noticed that my user name... the P is capitalized. :rolleyes1
Um when ever I clear my cookies and need to sign back in, I use the lower case p, I thought it was case sensitive?
