At our school there is a policy that must be signed by every parent. It states very plainly that all classes up to a certain point are parent participatory and that a parent or another adult must be present at all times. We have had to ask families to leave the school before who tried to "skip" this part of our curriculum requirements. We have also had parents argue up and down that it is not fair to them because they are "so busy, have other children, have a DH who works, commute to work," etc. As Tammi and many of you can attest.... it can still be done if it is important enough!

Oh, she is inside the building, she is just sitting on her pampered little tush not paying a whit of attention to her child.
I can't figure out why she doesn't have a domestic employee come to class with the child so she can go do something else. I am betting her domestic employee (I promise she has one) is an illegal and doesn't drive. She could always drop them off at class and go have a latte or something. But then there wouldn't be anyone at home scrubbing the toilets, so I guess that wouldn't work.

Good morning! I've got to get Alan out of bed so he can go vote before work. If he doesn't get it done then, he won't be able to vote at all. Being in the news business, this is the busiest day!!!! He'll be at work from 7:30 a.m. until about 2:00 tomorrow morning. No lunch or dinner break, but since he's covering election results, he'll get to eat at one of the parties.

I'll go vote as soon as I get the kids out the door. Since it's raining cats and dogs here now, I'll probably drive them to school instead of having them stand out in the rain, waiting for the bus. The polling location is at the jr. high, just down the street from their school, so it should work out!

My dad used to work in radio news. I remember how crazy election days (especially Presidential elections) were.

I took Leighanna to school and spoke with her teacher this morning. Leighanna has tested well enough that her teacher is recommending Leighanna to start the "accelerated learning" or gifted program. (I think that is what she called it. )
Hopefully this will also help her not to be so talkative in class too. Leighanna always finishes her assignments earlier than most of the others, and gets bored and starts to act up.
I am proud of her for doing so well. I just hope that she can handle the extra work, and that she continues to do well in her studies.

Great for Leighanna! Our elementary schools don't have much of a gifted program here. There is a pull-out one day out of every six that you can test into. Laura absolutely hated it, because it just meant more projects, and the teacher wasn't particularly engaging. Miles has a different teacher, so we'll see how it goes.

Sounds like most voting hasn't been too bad so far. I'm waiting for the baby to get here and then we'll head to the polls. Kristi voted earlier and it was just under and hour from when she called me leaving her house to go there until she called me already halfway to Chick Fil A for breakfast afterward.

Some Chick Fil As are doing a free chicken sandwich.

Of those, we only have Starbucks here, and I don't like coffee. Oh, well!

My cats cannot tell time either
They want to say hi every time I wake up or come home and you would think they were dogs too!!!!!!

We feed our cats in the evening. They were more than ready an hour "early" the last two nights.

so I finally had my last straw with one gentlemen (I use the term loosely) at work yesterday and since his official superior is a wonderful man but like talking to a dense brick wall in reprimanding this man, I took it to the next step which is SPRC. I just got their response......take it up with Richard next week. Not that I needed another reminder of why I am looking for another job but when the Staff Parish Relations Council...the hiring, firing arm of the church is so ineffectual it just makes me want to cry out of frustration.

Hi gals and guys....

I've been reading here and there when I get a chance. Between painting and all of the activities, meetings, church and ,oh yeah, those kids that I get paid to watch I haven't had much DIS time.

My painting is almost done. My LR only needs 1 1/2 walls left. My DR has 2 walls and then the wall above the plate rack. It looks so nice and I can't wait til it's all finished.

Sunday evening we had our Girl Scout pow wow. We had a ton of fun together, there are 4 moms and the 1 dad (the dad who returned from Iraq in the spring). We all are on the same page and are looking forward to all that we can accomplish with the girls. It was very enlightening to say the least. The dad and one of the other mom's is meeting with the leader Wednesday night to finalize what will be said to the girls on Thursday. The spent 2 hours on the phone with her last night so the groundwork has been laid. The cookie money was a sore issue, the leader said "Well I don't have to give it to you because it belongs to Troop 105, but I wouldn't feel right" She is a nut case. We should once we've split off have close to $600 in start up funds.

Last night Dana and I took the girls to see HSM3. Everyone enjoyed it although it was a bit cheesy. Emma starts hand bell practice tonight. And at some point I need to vote.

Anyone know when HSM3 is supposed to be released to DVD? I don't think we'll bother going to the theater for it.

I would love to go cooking with Princess...unlike you I love the kitchen...my job not so much. But it just wouldn't work out...I wouldn't wish my job on my own worst enemy.

Cooking with Princess sounds fun except for a certain mother.

We only had a 20 minute wait to vote! My vote at 8:25 a.m. was #417. I remember times when our entire polling place had less than 500 votes at the end of the day! I believe at the last presidential election there were about 800 votes, so this will be very good to see.

We had enough time for me to take Kristin out to breakfast and the best part of it was that she picked up the tab!

Our district is small. At around noon, I was voter #392. There are just over 900 registered voters in our district. At just before 7 am, dh was voter #47. Of the 4 districts at our polling place, ours was the only one with a line. Even then, I was done in about 10 minutes.

We already know where NYS electoral votes are going anyway.

If one more %*#@&*#$ person comes to my door telling me I need to vote or hanging a map of my polling place on my door or asking me who I am voting for or calls the house to tell me how important it is to vote I may go out and buy a gun!

That sounds fun! We were going to do it on our last day of our last trip, but we had already spent so much time at AK that we decided to just do the other three parks.

Now I blame the instructor for enabling Shallow Mom's behavior. If I were the instructor that certainly would NOT have been the case.

It's not always that easy, unfortunately. Sometimes for the sake of the school, you need to bite your tongue.

There is a very squirrelly dynamic in classes like this. The instructors really can't say anything to the parents who refuse to follow the rules. They just grit their teeth and deal with it. I used to teach Gymboree and it was the same thing. The instructor who was doing the craft is a college student, but the OWNER of the cooking school was there. I will say the owner looked REALLY irate the whole time, but I don't know if Shallow Mom was WHY she looked irate. It is easy for me to say I would tell her she has to supervise her child if I owned the facility, but in reality it is nearly impossible to have that conversation. Shallow Mom would immediately go badmouth the cooking school to all of her shallow friends, so it is easier to just leave her alone and mutter about her when she's not around.
