DDA Chapter 14

this is not funny...but they laugh about it now.....some friends of ours were going through a rough patch...they had seriously contemplated divorce....they decided to give it another go....so they had to make copies of the necessary legal documents.... they went together to Kinkos.....They got into a huge fight at the xerox machine and both announced "that's it" and by golly they got divorced.

My DB and family were able to have ME pick them up at FW rather than POP since they spent their last day at the campground with us. I think it can be done, but not sure how difficult it would be on the arrival end :confused3

Elizabeth I totally screwed up my diet and ate 5, yes 5 rasberry filled sugar cookies :sad2: :scared: They were calling out to me and I must admit that I am a bit stressed today.

I am finding that being too big to fit in my jeans is a powerful motivator! Momboss has a box of chocolates, pumpkin bread, cookies, all sorts of goodies that she has encouraged me to help myself to. But I am not, because I really am too wimpy to wear shorts in the cold. :rotfl2:

I never did understand why the Feds don't have dental insurance...:confused3

Uncle1 was saying his insurance isn't that great anymore. We were talking about that HUGE chunk we owe on the colonoscopy. Uncle1 is a gov't employee.

I still haven't gone to pick up DS's shirt. Princess needed to go potty after cooking class, and she was looking terribly sleepy, too. I was afraid if I put her back in the car after we came home to use the restroom that she would fall asleep, so I figured we would wait until after her nap. I hope she wakes up soon!

Theresa- Many, many 's coming your way. Prayers for strength and peace.

Deb- Lots of :wizard: for your MIL, Chris and you. I hope she doesn't take it personally. Good luck with the subbing.

Elin- Good thoughts headed Kathrin's way. :wizard: :wizard:

Steffy- I hope you are feeling better.:wizard:

Elizabeth- Are you saying I am a horrible mom?!?!:goodvibes I hope cooking class calms down a bit.

Kristine- I hope Bill survives the trip to the dentist, yikes on the $$

Heidi- Blech, the snow is pretty but not in October. Hope you're warm now.

Anne Marie- :wizard: for a quick sale.

Jennifer- Hope the twins all had fun today!!

Debbie- Hope your lunch went well. Brandon is such a cutie. I loved those Mousekeeping designs you posted.

Terry- I'd much rather eat at the Crab Trap, but honestly I didn't notice the typo. I guess I knew what you meant!

care to elaborate?

I found Abi's lunch on the counter as I was getting ready to leave for work (aforementioned pb&j and chips...she doesn't eat much) and I asked Jim to make sure to take it to her as soon as he was done dropping me off to work as she is also out of lunch money.

When I talked to him again and asked about it....he said he didn't get it to her because he chose to go do something else and thought he had until 11:30 (she eats at 10:40) and oh well. When I got upset because it didn't bother him one bit, he asked why it bothered me that this happens every once in awhile. The thing is, it's not every once in awhile it's constantly and the fact that he had such a nonchalant attitude about it made me disgusted at myself. Because I've enabled that attitude. I asked him if he wanted to know what I see when I look at him..he didn't, I told him anyway and I ended with that I pity him because he lost out on me and the girls with his selfishness.

Robyn - NO!!! You are a FABULOUS mom! Like I said, in NORMAL households kids cut their hair off when Mom (or Nanny) turns her back. I told you I had a charge cut his bangs off, and one of Princess's classmates (who has a lovely mom) had her hair lopped off by her brother a day or so after Molly cut her hair. IF I wouldn't have seen this mom in action I would have given her the benefit of the doubt, but since I had the chance to observe her I can guarantee it was NOT a case of turning her back for a minute. It also doesn't look like she has been to the salon to have it fixed. It was like that last week, and I didn't think much of it because kids cutting their hair off seems to be in the air lately. This week it all sort of made sense. :sad2:

I think I've managed to put most of the stuff away from our trip. It seems to always take so long or maybe it is just that I procrastinate :confused3 The pictures are uploading to my laptop now.

I gave it a try, way to nice of a picture to have a "butt" in it.

TammiGroupcopy.jpg

Tammi, that is a beautiful picture!

Debbie, great job removing the butt! :rotfl:

Alyssa and I were looking at the We B Toys add the other day and she commented on how horrible Baby Alive looks. She said "those eyes creep me out!"
A little girl in my class today went on and on about a doll she has that freaks her out (her words). I couldn't quite tell what doll it was, but I know that it has hair, cheeks, a nose, a mouth, arms, legs, eyes...

Well, I have started my "healthy" eating again. So far, I haven't had any snacks today, I've had about 60 oz. of water and only one bottle of pepsi (24 oz). I think I will make it through the day.

I will start eating breakfast every morning again, will try to drink 60-80 oz. water, and only one bottle of pepsi every day. I'm not making any more commitments than that right now.
Best wishes to you!!!! I could use some of that motivation!

So Elizabeth,

Are you sitting down? We leave in 11 days and I haven't even started packing, I still have to make a list and I have to go shopping, I only have two pairs of jeans that I can wear. I also don't have a lightweight jacket to wear.

I had better get it in gear this weekend.

11 days! Yay! I am sure that the packing will all come together for you. I packed the night before we left (yes, seriously), and I don't think there was anything that we forgot. Good luck with the shopping!

we have snow, 3" and its still coming down. :headache: :sad2:

YUCK!!!! They were predicting snow for us (1"-3" in the valleys and 4"-6" in higher elevations). So far, we've had thick, cold rain but no real snow. (Maybe in the higher elevations...) If you look at the weather map, you can see that the wintry mix is in the areas along the rivers and the snow is all around us. I guess the river is keeping the snow away. I am so depressed by this weather, though.

We had a few people interested in our house this weekend & we have another open house coming up. We had an home inspector, appraiser, & oil tank inspector come..oh & a broker open house too...I have been cleaning closets & donating alot of the kids clothes. (sad to see them go but just because I keep their baby clothes doesn't mean I can keep them babies right? :sad1: )
I have still managed to keep the house spit spot for any showings. :thumbsup2

4am we had the LOUDEST thunder storm I have ever heard..The thunder shook my house several times.:scared:

Halloween is supposed to be nice...Katie is a bee, Daniel is Obi Wan Kenobi, & Sophie is Minnie Mouse.

Have a beautiful day.
:flower3:
pixiedust: that your home sells quickly and easily at a great price!

It is supposed to be nicer here by Halloween, too. Miles is a skeleton pirate. Matthew and his friends are doing something about the food chain complete with a song they wrote, but I don't completely know what it is. Laura and her friends tie dyed yesterday so that they can go as "hippies." Her hands were all shades, but no blue ****s as far as I know. :rotfl:

Tom,

I missed it on the other thread, but I wanted to be sure and tell you how AMAZING Leighanna's costume is!

I went back to the thread to take a peak. Definitely AMAZING!

Noooooooooooo way!!! :rotfl2: I hate snow! The only time I want to see snow is Christmas time. If I didn't have to drive around in it maybe I would like it.
Ditto!

While in the middle of typing my last post I received a phone call from MIL. Apparantely the boyfriend of 18 years that she just moved out on, has died. She was crying and didn't have many details. All that she knows is that he was coughing up blood last night, but wouldn't let anyone call the ambulance, when they checked on him at 6:30 am he was dead on the couch. I suspect that he drank himself to death as he has had liver problems in the past and he was told that if he didn't stop drinking he would kill himself. He stopped for many years before starting up again on his latest binge which is why she left him. I just hope he didn't OD on something other than alcohol as MIL will blame herself for leaving. We will head over tonight after Chris comes home to check on her.
I am so sorry to hear this.

About a year ago I heard the term "tipping point" and had it explained to me.

I truly believe there are tipping points in all aspects of our lives. I had my tipping point at work back in February when I KNEW I couldn't keep working here and it gave me the kick in the pants to REALLY look for another job. While that job hasn't shown up yet, I have faith.

Unless something miraculous happens in my marriage it had it's tipping point yesterday. While I am legally still married (and probably will be until I can fund a divorce), I just can't even look at Jim. As I told him it was the small piece of the puzzle still missing and he put it there to finish it. It was not the tipping point I was hoping, praying for but it happened just the same.

 I'm not quite sure what to say. I am so sorry, but I am hopeful that you are on a path to happiness and contentment. I'm not sure that I can offer any insight, but feel free to let me know if you need to just vent to someone.

Speaking of Kathrin... some PD and good thoughts would be much appreciated by this old Mom.

She has her root canal done tomorrow and they will check the teeth on either side to be certain there is no further damage to them.

On Monday she has an interview with The Princeton Review. That would be the perfect match for her since the position she had in Richmond was in marketing colleges and universities. The only drawback is that she would have to drive to get to work. But her room mate is willing to let her use her car for the time being. :)

Lots of pixiedust: for her (and you)!

Theresa....

In very simplistic terms...all I can tell you is that for me, getting divorced was best thing that I could of ever done. Jeff wasn't and isn't a bad guy....but it was a marriage that was not filled with any joy. If you find a way to put any fears and doubts in the back of your mind....the road that lays ahead for you will be a wonderful one...so I for one, am happy for you!!

Hang in there...it gets easier

I have a couple of friends who say exactly what you are saying.

I am finding that being too big to fit in my jeans is a powerful motivator! Momboss has a box of chocolates, pumpkin bread, cookies, all sorts of goodies that she has encouraged me to help myself to. But I am not, because I really am too wimpy to wear shorts in the cold. :rotfl2:

I am sorry about your "huge chunk" that you owe. I hate medical procedures and their costs! On top of the $1300 that we owe for my CT scan, we owe $375 on the mammogram and echocardiogram. :scared1: And then I need the repeat mammogram in 6 months when we will be responsible for the $700 deductible (+20% of anything over that) again.

I have a cold, and my sinuses are killing me. I wish I could just curl up under the covers right now.

When do our exchange ornaments need to be mailed? I have to get working on a few things.

When do our exchange ornaments need to be mailed? I have to get working on a few things.

Before December 1st....or to the recipients house by December 15th:lmao:

(in other words...I am a little lax in the rules this year)

Deb, I'm not sure that I ever said, "WELCOME BACK!!!" It sounds like you had a great extra vacation! I can't wait to see the pictures. I think I probably would have waited for the restaurant, but there would have been a mutiny, and the rest of my family would have been at McDonald's.

I am sorry for Abi.
If DS didn't have any lunch I would be in tears. I imagine his friends would take pity on him and give him some odds and ends from their lunches, but he doesn't have a lunch account and he doesn't ever carry money with him. He has admitted he only eats his sandwich and drinks his juice pouch, but I always put raisins, chips, granola bar, etc. in there in case he miraculously wants more OR if he wants to share with his friends. I know there was a day when one of the boys didn't have any lunch and DS gave him some of his "extra" stuff.

The fact that Jim was baffled that you were bothered by your DD not having lunch is very peculiar. How can he NOT be bothered by her not having anything to eat? That is such a basic thing - you have to make sure your children have food to eat!

and that is when I realized he was a self centered, self absorbed, I used the b word, and he wasn't going to change, because he doesn't want to. Why should he when I've covered his butt for this long??

Beth- Yikes! Your insurance sounds about like ours! The colonoscopy is costing us $700. The cost before insurance was $2600, which is ludicrous for a 30 minutes procedure. :sad2:

I am pleased to announce that I paid my LAST EVER payment to my former OB/GYN yesterday. :thumbsup2

It will be interesting to see how much a Depo shot costs at the new Dr. in December. I noticed they have a code on their billing sheet for "Nurse Visit". My former Dr. just billed for "Brief Office Visit"! :scared1: My last shot was given by a medical assistant! She wasn't even a NURSE!

Did you find someone to send that extra exchange?

no I didn't....I was thinking of doing it myself...then forgot about it...my brain hasn't been completely around for a long time.

Ridiculous, isn't it? The echocardiogram was not even a 30 minute procedure, and there is nothing "messy" about it. The billed charges were $2248! The "allowed amount" was less, and we were responsible for 20% of that. I know that there is another plan that we can get through dh's employer, but the monthly charges for that are even more than what we pay now. I guess we need to see how much more. Then it's a gamble as to whether we'll have medical expenses above that or not.

I was just giving you a hard time!! I knew it wasn't directed at me.

You all are the best ladies (and gentlemen) on the planet and I thank you for your support.

If I could I would giggle over what was my tipping point...it was a damn pb&j sandwich.

I'm so sorry to hear this Theresa, I was just talking with a co worker yesterday. I told her I was in one of those moods that everything ticked me off, and it was the little stuff that set me off.

I also have a first husband, and the divorce was definitely the right thing to do, but I think I would have run out of the courtroom if we had not been first on the docket.

Beth- I'm sorry you are having sinus issues too. I am right there with you on the back in bed, covers over my head.

Tom- I knew I was forgetting something. Leighanna is the cutest Bo Peep ever. Great job Daddy!!

That's EXACTLY like ours. Our deductible is $500 per person, or $1000 family, then 20% after that. There is another plan that is (I think) $250 deductible and 10% after that but the premiums are WAY higher. I think it would cost us $1700 more per year, and we probably wouldn't ever owe $1700 OOP on the plan we have now since we don't go to the Dr. all that often. Kind of like having the Deluxe Dining Plan - the stupid plan costs more than paying for the product outright. Now if we knew there was something expensive coming up we could switch, but it isn't common to have advance notice of things like that so we could time the switch for open enrollment and then plan the procedure for after the change took effect.
